2 Getting Started Key Functions 1. Speaker: The speaker allows you to hear the other caller and the different ring tones and sounds offered by your phone. 2 . Signal Strength Indicator: This icon represents the signal strength by displaying bars. The more bars displayed, the better the signal strength.

Getting Started 7 Once your phone is ON, it displa ys “Looking for Service” which indicates that your phone is search ing for a signal. When y our ph one finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – t he phon e’ s i dle state. At this point, you are ready to begin making and receiving calls.
8 Getting Started Using the Batter y Battery Capacity Y our phone is equipped with a standard Lithium Ion (LiIon) battery . It allows you to recharge your battery before it is fully drained. The standard battery provides appr oximately 3 hours of continuous digital talk time (1.
Getting Started 9 Removing the Battery T o remove your batter y , follow these easy steps: 1. So that no stored messages or numb ers are lost, power off your phone by pressing and holding the key . 2. Push the battery release la tc h down completely .
10 Getting Started Charging the Battery Y our phone comes with a rechargeab le battery . Y ou should charge the battery as soon as possible so you can begin using your phone. Keeping track of your batte ry’ s char ge is important. If your batter y level becomes too low , your phone automatically turns off.
Getting Started 11 When the flip is open, an animat ed battery icon is displayed on the screen. When th e battery is completely charged, a green light is displayed continuously . Displaying Y our Phone Number Just in case you forget your phone number , your phone can remind you.
12 Getting Started Answering Calls 1. Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to voic email). 2. Press to answer an incom ing call. (Depen ding on yo ur phone’ s settings, you may also answer incoming calls by opening the phone or by p ressing any digit.

14 Getting Started Using One/T wo/Three T ouch Speed Dialing With this feat ure, you can automatica lly call Speed Dia l entries using one key press for locations 1-9, tw o key presses for locations 10-99, or three key presses for locations 100-300.
Getting Started 15 Abbreviated Dialing Abbreviated dialing allows you to enter a six-digit prefix for commonly used phone numbers. When abbreviated dialing is On, you can enter the last four digits of any phone number that matches the six digit prefix, and the number is dialed using the prefix numbers with only the last four entered.
16 Getting Started Dialing Options Dialing options are displayed wh en you enter numbers using the keypad. T o selec t an option press and the numbe r on the keypad that corresponds with the desired choice. • Ta l k is used to dial the phone number .
Getting Started 17 In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays menu options in addition to the main menu. T o select an option, hi ghlight it and press . • (1) Mute or UnMute: Select Mute to mute your phone’ s microphone. Select Unmute to reactivate the microphone.
18 Getting Started Saving a Phon e Number Y our phone can store up to six phone numb ers in each entry for a total of 300 Internal Phone Book numbers. Each entr y’ s name can contain 20 characters. Y our phone au tomatically sorts the Internal Phone Book entries alphabetically .
Getting Started 19 Finding a Phon e Number This feature allows you to sear ch for phone numbers saved in your address book by entering 1-4 numbers of the last four digits saved. When sear ching, you must ente r the digits in sequential order starting from the last number .

Settings 25 Selecting a Key T one Y our phone offers a number of options for selecting the audible tones accompanying a key press. (Longer tone leng ths may be better for tone recognition when dialing voicemail or other automated systems.) 30 Settings Location Settings Y our phone is equipped with a Locat ion featu re for use in connection with location-based services that may be avail able in the f uture. The Location feature allows the network to detect your position. T urning Location off will hide your location from everyone except 911.
Settings 31 Airplane Mode When your phone is in Airplane Mode, it cannot send or receive any calls or access online information. Y ou may still use the phone’ s other features, such as Games, Notepad, Voice Memos, etc., while you are in Airplane Mode.

Managing Call History 55 Managing Call History Viewing History Y ou’ll find the Call Histor y feature very helpful. It is a list of the last 20 phone numbers (or In ternal Phone B ook entries) for calls you placed, accepted, or miss ed. Call Histor y makes redialing a number fast and easy .

Voice Services 79 Voice Services Activating V oice Recognition Voice recogn ition allows you to say commands to perform common functions supported by your phone .
80 Voice Services • When saying a number , speak at a norma l speed and say ea ch digit clearly . There is no ne ed to pause between digits. • The phone recognizes the digits one, two, three, four , five, six, seven, eight, nine, zero, and oh. The phone does not recognize numbers such as "one eight hundr ed" for "1-800.
Voice Services 81 Note: In some cases, the phone might ask you to repeat a number . Make sure that the number is a valid 7 or 10 digit North American phone number , and then say the number again. If the number isn't valid , or if the phone still doesn't understand the number on the second try , it will not place a call.
82 Voice Services After you adapt Digit Dial, your phone will be customized to your voice. Other people will not b e ab le to use Digit Dial on your phone unless they rese t the phone to factory defaults. Important: ONL Y adapt Digit Dial if the system is frequently misrecognizing your spee ch.
Voice Services 83 6. If the recording sounds ok (no mistakes, and no background noi ses), say " Ye s ." If you need to re-record the digits to fix any problems , say " No ." The phone then prompts you to say the digits again. Wait for the beep, and then record the digit s again.
84 Voice Services Using Name Dial For best results with N ame Dial, en ter first and last names in your phone book, avoid using abbreviations , and make sure the names are spelled correctly . Name Dial automatica lly voice-acti vates ever y contact in your Phonebook without the need to record or "train" names before us ing them.

The Basics 89 The Basics Using Vo icemail Setting Up Y our Voicemail All unanswered calls to your phone are automatically transferred to voicemail, even if your phone is in use or turned off. Therefore, you will want to set up your Voicemai l and personal greeting as soon as your phone is activated.
90 The Basics New Voicemail Message Alerts When you receive a ne w voice message, your phone alerts you and prompts you to call your voicemail. T o call your voicemail, press and hold . T o display your Missed Log, press . Important: When you are roaming off the network, y ou may not receive notification of new vo icemail messages.

92 The Basics Responding to Call W aiting When you’re on a call, Call Waiti ng alerts you to incoming calls by sounding two beeps. Y our phone’ s sc reen informs yo u that another call is coming in and displays th e caller’ s phone number (if it is available and you are in digital mode).

If you initiate d the call and are the first to hang up, all three callers are disconnected. Tip : Y ou can also begin a Three-Way Cal l by displaying a phone number stored in your Internal Phone Book , Call History , or Messaging.
