Assembling 10 When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your personal identification number (PIN), av ailable optional services, and many other features.
11 3. Carefully slide the SIM card into the SIM card sock et until the card locks into place. Note: Make sure the card’ s gold contacts fa ce into the phone and t hat the angled upper- left corner of the ca rd is positioned as shown above. Note: If the card is no t inserted corr ectly , the phone will not de tect the SIM card.
Assembling 12 Installing the Memor y Card Y our phone supports the use of a memory card (microSD™) for data storage of such things as data, music, pictures, and video files. This type of memo ry card is designed for use with this mobile phone and other devices.
13 3. Push the memory card into the memory card slot until it locks into place. Note: Make sure the mic roSD’s gold contact p ins face upward and t hat the card is secure ly inserted. 4. If the battery is not properly installed and th e charger is conn ected, the phone mi ght power off and on continuously, preventing proper operation.

17 2. Slide the hand strap through the slot on the phone and hook it over the small projection. 3. Replace the back cover . Switching the Phone On or Off T o tur n your phone on: Press and hold to turn your phone on. An activation screen launches and the phone automatically searches for a network.

25 Using the T ouch Screen Y our phone’s touch screen lets you easily select items or perform functions. • T o avoid scr atching the touch screen, do not use sharp tool s. • Do not allow the touch screen to come into contact with other electrical devices.
Getting Started 26 • Drag and drop: T ap and hold your fi nger on an item and then drag your finger to move the item. • Double T ap: T ap twice quickly wit h your finger t o zoom in or out while viewing photos or web pages. Y our phone turns off the touch screen’ s backlight when you do not use the phone for a specified amount of time.

33 T o lock your SI M card: 1. In Idle mode, select Applications and then select Settings → Location and security → Set up SIM card lock → Lock SIM Card . 2. Enter your PIN and select OK . • Once the PIN lock has been enabled, you must enter the PIN each time you turn on the phone.
Getting Started 34 Enter text Y ou can enter text by selectin g characters on the virtual keypad or by inputting handwriting on the screen. T o enter text in a specific language, you need to change the writing language to one of the supported languages.

87 Section 8: Connectivity Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology capable of exchanging information over a distance of about 10 metres without requirin g a physical connection. Y ou do not need to line up the devices to beam information with Bluetooth.
