1A. Setting Up Ser vice 3 Activating Y our Phone v If you purchased your phone at a Sprint Store, your phone should be activated and r eady to use. v If you received your phone in the mail and it is for a new Sprint account or a new line of service, it is designed to activate automatically .

K ey Functions 1. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated pr ompts. 2. Display Screen displa ys all the information needed to oper ate y our phone, such as the call status, the Contacts list, the date and time, and the signal and bat tery strength.

2A. Phone Basics 11 Status Icons 1 Beep and Vibrate – 1 Beep and vibrate ar e set. Ringer and Vibrate – The v olume lev el is set to between 1 and 8 and vibrate is turned on. Speaker Mode – Y our phone is in speaker mode. Status Icons Battery – Y our phone’ s current battery charge lev el.
* Above icons will blink while your phone is communicating with a Bluetooth device. Bluetooth Icons Visible – Y our phone is disco verable b y (visible to) other Bluetooth devices. Connected – Y our phone is connected to a Bluetooth device. Enable – Y our phone’ s Bluetooth feature is enabled.
Others TTY – Y our phone is connected to a T TY device. Alarm Clock – Alarm clock or countdown is set. Notification – Y ou have e vents, call r eminders, alarm clock, or countdown notification, or y our Contacts list has been backed up to Sprint’ s website.
14 2A . Phone Basics T urning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On © Pr ess and hold . Once your phone is on and finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode – the phone’s idle state. At this point, y ou are r eady to begin making and r eceiving calls.
2A. Phone Basics 15 Battery Capacity Y our phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. It allows y ou to rechar ge your bat tery befor e it is fully drained.
16 2A . Phone Basics Charging the Battery K eeping track of y our bat tery’s char ge is important. If your bat tery le vel becomes too low, y our phone automatically turns off, and you will lose any information you wer e just working on.

2A. Phone Basics 21 Answering a Roam Call With Call Guard Enabled Call Guar d is an option that helps you manage y our r oaming charges when making or r eceiving calls while outside the Nationwide Sprint Network. Please see “Roaming” on page 110 for mor e information about r oaming.
