Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start usi ng your phone by activating your phone, inserting your SIM ca rd and battery , and navigating from the Home screen .

Getting Started 7 Char ging a Batte r y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li -ion batter y . Use the travel adapter to charge the battery, and use on ly Samsung approved batteries and chargers. Note: Y ou must fully charge the battery before using your phone for the first time.

Choose from Never , 10 second s, 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 40 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 5 minutes.
22 2. Select the profile yo u want. If you select Autom atic, the profile automatical ly switches between Norm al and Vibrate according to your calendar items. Note: Y o u can quickly change the profile with a short press of the key . Press and select the profile you want from the Quick List.
Understanding Y o ur Phone 23 Lockin g the Phone Y ou can protect your phone using th e Device Lock feature. On ce the feature i s enabled, your phone is automa tically locked af ter the specified period of inactivity . Note: Even if the phone is locked, you are able to receive calls.
24 Enabling the SIM PIN When SIM PIN is enabled, you m ust enter your PIN supp lied with your phone each time you turn the phone on or insert the current SIM card into another dev ice. Consequently , any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval.

30 Section 3: Sync hronization This section descri bes Using Microsoft ® ActiveSync ® , you can synchronize data on your deskto p computer with the data on your phone. Synchronization comp ares the data on you r phone with your desktop computer a nd updates both your phone and computer with the lat est data.

32 Connecting via Bluetoo th 1. On the Home screen , select Start ➔ ActiveSync and press the key . 2. Press the Menu soft key and select Connect via Bluetooth . 3. Press the Ye s soft key , when you are connecting to a computer via Bluetoot h for the first time.
Synchronization 33 Once the sync hronization is completed, the phone stays connected to the computer . If an y change is made, Microsoft ActiveSync automatically begins synchronization. T o begin synchronization, press the Sync soft key in Microsof t ActiveSync on your phone.

36 Section 4: Call Functions This section explains all of the ca ll functions provided by your phone. T ur ning the Phone Functions On and Off Y ou can choose to turn off the phone functions a nd just use the PDA functions at any time and th en turn it back on when you want.

When you insert your SIM card into the phone, it automatical ly detects and se ts as default the voicemai l center number of your mobile service provider .
Call Functions 41 Viewing call timers In Call History , you can view the duration of your calls. T his option is convenient fo r es timating your usage.
42 • Channels : This option allows you to set the cell broa dcast (CB) message receipt and set up broadcast channels from which you want to receive CB mes sages. Note: Not all networks support this option. – Enable channels : Select to enable th e receipt of CB mess ages.
Call Functions 43 Note: This menu is available only when your SIM card supports Service Dialing Numbers. V oice Command Voice Command TM transforms your device into your own virtual personal assistant, letting you use your voice to look up contacts, make phone calls, get calendar information, play and control your music, as well as start programs.
44 – Messaging – Phone – Start Menu – Status Video Share The Video Share featur es allows you to place a call and share live or recorded video while o n the call. Y ou can initiate or receive video by using the following steps. Note: Before using Video Share, make sure you turn off Wi-Fi if it has been enabled.

Menu Naviga tion Menus and sub-menus can be ac cessed by scrolling through them using the Na vigati on key or by using the shortcut keys.
Menu Navigation 47 Using Shor t cuts Numbers and letters ca n be used to access menu items, such as menus, sub-menus, and options quickly . FN Key Settings Setting up FN Key Sett ings is another way to access applications from the Home screen without navigating through the main menu icons and sub menus.
48 Section 6: Organizer The Organizer has many tools to assist you in daily activities. Alar ms Y ou can use the alarm clock to set a wake-up alarm or set a n alarm to remind you of an appointment. T o open Alarms: 䊳 On the Home screen , select Start ➔ More ➔ Organizer ➔ Alarms and press the key .

On the Home screen, press the Start ➔ More ➔ Organizer ➔ Search . 2. Enter the first few letters of t he item name in the Search f ield and selec t an item t ype in the Category field.

52 Tip Calculator With this fea ture, you can use th e phone to calculate the amount of money left as a ti p based on parameters such as: total bill amount, tip percentage, and numbe r of members in your party . 1. On the Home screen , select Start ➔ More ➔ Organizer ➔ Tip Calculator and press the key .

World Clock Y ou can set up the world clock with the time zones you want, and then check the curre nt time of the city yo u need at any time.
54 Section 7: Contacts & Calendar Contacts maintains a list of your friends a nd colleagues so that you can easily find the informatio n you are lookin g for , whether you are at home or o n the road. The calendar fea ture allows y ou to view the Month, Week, and Day layout views.
