5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first steps to operating you r phone. SIM Card Infor mation When you subscribe for 3G cellul ar network services, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Modu le) card loaded with your subscription details, such as yo ur PIN, and available optional services.
Getting Started 6 Inst allin g and Remo vi ng the SI M Car d Import ant!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card, and keep all SIM cards out of reach of children.
7 2. Press the batter y do wn until it clicks into place. Ma ke sure that the battery is properly installed and not obstructing the SIM card before replacing the cover . 3. With the batter y in position in the phone, hook the top of the batter y cover back on th e handset (1) and press it down (2) until it c licks.
Getting Started 8 Note: The previous illustration is the correct and incorrect method for connecting the charger . If the incorrect method is attempted, damage to the accessory port will occur therefore voiding the phone’s warranty . 2. Plug the adaptor into a standard AC wall outlet.

13 10. Clear key : Deletes chara cters from the display when yo u are in text entr y mode. Deletes items whe n in an application. When in a mai n menu, press to return to the previous menu. A quick press of the key displays the Calendar in Month view .

Headset jack/Adapter jack : Allows you to plug in the travel adapter (power), option al PC connection cabl e (data transfer), and optional he adset for safe, convenient, hands-free conversations.
15 Back View of Y our Phone 1. Camera lens : Used to take pictur es and shoot videos. 2. Volume keys/Menu Navigation : Used to adjust the ringer volume in standby mode, to mu te the incom ing call ringer , or to adjus t the voice vol ume during a ca ll.
Understanding Y our Phone 16 Icons Shows the received signal strength. The greater the number of bars, th e stronger the signal. Appears when the phone is accessing services in a GPRS network. When data is b eing transferred, this icon animates. Appears when the phone is accessing services in an EDGE network.
17 Note: The default phone profile is Normal, the profile is editable and the displayed icons may vary according to the setting. Back Light A back light il luminates the di splay and th e keypad when you press any key.
Understanding Y our Phone 18 menu and sub-menu allow s you to vi ew and alter t he settings of a particular function. If you select the Options soft key in Idle mode, the following di splays under the ti tle of My Menu: • YELLOWP AGES : allows you to perform a Business, Category , or Location search for listed phone numbers.
19 • T o move back to the previous function or o ption on a list, press the Up Navigation key or the key on the right side of the phone. • T o move back up one level in th e menu structure, press the Back soft key . • T o exit the menu structure without changing the settings, press the key .
Understanding Y our Phone 20 • Press to return to standby mode from any menu. Send Key The Send key is used to answer ca lls, dial calls, and to recall the last number(s) di aled, received, or mi ssed. • Press once to answer calls. • Press to power on your phone.
21 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer a ca ll. It also includes the features and function ality as sociated with maki ng or answering a call. Making a Call When the Idle screen displays, enter the a rea code and phone number , and press the key.
Call Functions 22 2. Use the Left and Right Navigation keys to scroll through the Recent Calls op tions. Choose from All Calls, Missed Calls , Calls Made , or Calls Received .

Call Functions 24 Video Share (In-Call) Y ou can begin a V ideo Share call during an existing call by pressing the Options soft key and selecting V ideo Share ➔ Live . Play a V ideo Sh are Recor ding During a call (while not in a Live Video Share session ) you can share a recorded video for the recipient.
25 Note: If there is a voicemail sent by the same number , associated icons are displayed and can then be selected. 2. T o scroll through the list of missed calls, press the Up or Down Navigation ke y . 3. T o move to another call ty pe, press the Lef t or Right Navigati on key .
Call Functions 26 Sending a Mess a ge to a Missed Ca ll T o send a text message or atta chment to a missed c all entr y: 1. Immediately after mis sing a call , press the View s o f t k e y. A list of missed calls is displayed with the most re cently missed call highlighted.
27 4. Press the Back soft key o r the key to cancel this operation. Data V o lume Data Volume refers to the amount of data (volume) to and fro m the phone. 1. From the Idle Screen, press the Menu soft key, then select My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Recent Calls ➔ Da ta Volume .
Call Functions 28 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Adjusting the Call V o lume During a call, if you wa nt to adjust the earpiece vol ume, use the Vol um e keys on the right side of the phone.
29 1. Press the Options soft key , then select End . 2. Select the call you wish to end. • Active Call : Only the c urrently a ctive ca ll is ended . • Held Call : Only the cur rently held call is ended . • All Calls : All current calls are ended and you ar e returned to the Idle sc reen.
Call Functions 30 Using the Spe ake r phone During an Activ e Call While in an ac tive call, it is possible to enable the spe akerphone feature. 1. Dial the nu mber and press . 2. Once the call is answered, press to ac tivate the speakerphone. 3. Use the Vol um e keys (located on th e right side of your phone) to adjust the volume.

Call Functions 32 In Silent mode, you r phone’ s speakers are m uted. An incoming call causes the phone to vibrate and light up, depending on the settings of the Silent Ph one Settings feature. T o exit and reactivate the prev ious sound settings, press and hold again until “Normal Profile on” display s.
33 Section 4: Menu Naviga tion This section explains the men u na vi gation for your phone. It also includes an outline of all the a vailable menus associa ted with your phone. Some menu optio ns are controlled by the SIM provided by your servic e provider .

37 Pause/Resume This feature allows yo u to toggle the state of the current video between being P aused or Resuming playback. Stop The feature stops the current media, exits the media pl ayer and returns you to the main CV homepage.

My Stuff 46 Alarms This feature allows you to: • set the alarm to ring at a specific time. • set the phone to switch on automatically and ring the alarm even if the phone is switched off. Y ou can access the Al arms menu by selecting My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Alarms and pressing the Select soft key or t he key .

51 Section 6: Entering T ext This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. This sec tion also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entr y system to reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
Entering T ext 52 T o change the text input m o de, use the following steps: 1. T o toggle the text input mode between T9 mode and ABC mode, press and hold the key . 2. T o toggle from All Ca ps to Initial Caps, to Lower Ca se, or to Numeric entries while in either the T9 Mode or the ABC Mode, short press the key .
53 Add a New W ord into the T9 Dictionary 1. After pressing the keys correspondin g to the word you want to add, press the ke y to display the alternative words. 2. When the last alternative word is displayed, Spe ll displays. Press the Spell so ft key .

When entering the same letter twice or a different letter on the same key, just wait for a few seconds for the cursor to move to the right automatically, and then select the next letter .

Using the navigation keys, highl ight the contact to assign to the Speed D ial number and press Select soft key or the key .

Messaging 64 Section 8: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive different ty pes of messages. It also includes the features an d functionality associated with messaging.
65 – Record Audio : allows you to temporarily ex it the message, record an audio clip using the phone’ s microphone, and then add it to your message. – Record Video : allows you to tem poraril y exit the message, re cord a video clip using the ph one’ s camera, and then add it to y our message.
Messaging 66 – Save as T emplates : allows you to s ave the current text m essage or multimedia message to the current lis t of preset message templates, such as (Out of the Office, I’m in a meeting). • Back : allows you to return to the ac t ive message or to the Options menu from a sub-menu.

Note: If you exit from this Vie w screen, you will need to go to the Messaging ➔ Inbox screen, the Recent Calls screen, or you will need to dial your Voicemail contact to access your messages.

75 – Call Alert T ype : allows you to select the way in which the se lected ringtone is played w hen a call comes in on the phone. • Melody : the phone sounds the se lected melody . • Increasing Melody : the phon e sounds the selecte d melody, which in creases in volum e until th e call is answered , rejected, or goes to voice mail .

83 – Busy : allows you to forward Voice Calls to a designated number instead of your vo ice mail number if yo u are on another phone call. Press the Select soft key and either ente r the phone number or press the Options soft key to select a number from your Address Book.
Changing Y our Settings 84 Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-ra nge wireless communi cations technology capable of exch anging informati on over a dis tance of about 30 feet without req uiring a physical connection. Un like infrared, you don't need to line up the devi ces to beam in formation with Bluetooth.
85 • My Bluetooth Info : shows information and settings your phone uses to communicate with other Bluetooth devices. – Device Name : allows your phone to iden tify itself using the name entered into this te xt field, when your p hone’ s Bluetooth visibility is turned On.

Shop T ones The Shop T ones menu option allows you to shop for audio tones using the built-in browser .
MEdia Mall 92 1. When the Idle screen displays, press the Menu soft key , then select MEdia Mall ➔ Shop Graphics to launch the built-in browser and select an image to download. 2. Follow the on-screen options. The downloaded files can be stored in the Gr aphics folder found within the My Stuff (On phone) loca tion.
