5 Installing the Batter y Note: Y our phone comes packaged with a partially charged rechargeable standard Li-Ion battery and tra vel adapter . Important!: Y ou must fully charge the battery the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the batter y .
Getting Started 6 Remo ving the Batter y 1. Push down on the battery cover (1). 2. Slide the battery cover down. 3. Lift the battery cover off of the phone (2), bottom en d first. 4. Lift the battery up (1) and away from the phone (2). Char ging t he Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable standard Li-Ion battery .
7 2. Insert the smal ler end of the T ravel Adapter into the charger/accessor y connector at the bott om end of your phone. Important!: Y ou must unplug the adapter before removing the battery from the phone during charging to avoid damage.

Call Functions 30 Dialing Emer gency Numbers T o place an emergency call: 1. With the phone on, enter 911 using the keypad. 2. Press to place th e call. Y ou can specify other numbers as emergency numbers using the Emergency # settings. For more information, refer to “Emergenc y Numbers” on page 123.

Messaging 42 Note: There is a 160-character limit for text messages. If you send a text message with more than 160 characters, the message is truncated after the first 160 characters and the remaining characters are then sent in consecutive messages until the entire message text has been sent.
