Assembling 11 Install the SIM or USIM card and batt er y When you subscribe to a c ellular ser vice, y ou will receive a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, with subscription details, such as y our personal identification number (PIN) and optional ser vices.
Assembling 12 When you insert two USIM cards for a UM TS network into y our device, the car d in the secondary slot will be used for a GPRS network. SIM card 2 SIM card 1 The antenna is loca ted in the upper area on the back of the device. Do not r emov e the protective tape co vering the antenna, as this can damage the ant enna.
Assembling 13 Charge the ba tter y Before using the devic e for the first time , you must charge the battery . Y ou can charge the device with a trav el adapter or by connecting the device to a PC with a USB cable. Use only Samsung-appro ved chargers and cables .
Assembling 14 Plug the large end of the tra vel adapt er into a pow er 2 outlet. Y ou can use the device while it is charging, but it ma y ● take longer to fully charge the batt er y . While the device is charg ing, the t ouch screen ma y ● not function due to an unstable power supply .
Assembling 15 Charge with a USB cable › Before char ging , ensure tha t your PC is turned on. Plug one end (micro-USB) of the USB cable into the 1 multifunction jack . Plug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on a 2 PC. Depending on the type of USB cable you are using , it may take some time bef ore charg ing begins .
Assembling 16 Remove the back co ver . 1 Inser t a memor y card with the gold- coloured c ontacts 2 facing down. Push the memory card in the memor y card slot until it 3 locks in place. Replace the back cov er . 4 Remov e the memor y card › Before r emoving a memor y card, first unmount it f or safe remov al.
Assembling 17 F ormat the memor y card › F or matting your memory card on a PC may cause incompatibilities with y our device. F ormat the memor y card only on the device. In Idle mode, select → Settings → SD card and phone storage → Unmoun t SD card → OK → F ormat SD card → F ormat SD card → Erase ev er ything .

Getting star ted 40 Enter t ext Y ou can enter text by pressing keys on the QWERT Y keyboard, by selecting characters on the vir tual keypad, or by inputting handwriting on the screen. Y ou cannot enter text in some languages. T o enter text, you should change the writing language to one of the suppor ted languages.

Communication 52 Set call waiting Call waiting is a network f eature t o aler t you of an incoming call while you ar e on a previous call. This featur e is available only for calls . Communication 53 Messaging Learn to cr eate and send t ext (SMS) or multimedia (MMS) messages, and view or manage messages y ou have sen t or receiv ed. Y ou may incur additional charges for sending or receiving messages while outside y our home ser vice area.
