Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to start usin g your Samsung SCH-r350 phone by activating your service, setting up your V oicemai l, or getting an understanding of how this manual is pu t together .
5 Important!: Y ou must fully charge the ba ttery the first time you use your phone, otherwise you could damage the batter y . 1. Insert the top end of the battery first, matching the gold contacts on the inside of the batter y to those on the phone. 2.
Getting Started 6 Use th e Trav el Adap ter The travel adapter included with your phone is a convenient, light-weight charger that rapidly charges your phone from any 120/220 VAC outlet. 1. Plug the large end of the T ravel Adapter into a standard 120 V AC or 220 V AC wall outlet.
7 T ur ning Y our Phone On 1. Press and hold the key until the display lights. Note: As with any other radio-transmitting device, do not touch the antenna while using your phone as this can affect call quality and can cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than is necessary.

While in Standby mode , press and hold the Fn (Function) key ( ) to activate/dea ctivate Vibrate Mode . Entering T ext Y our phone has a QWERTY ( ) keypad to support quick and easy text input.
15 2. The Info Panel contains the Clock display (showing the time, day , and date) and thre e icons that indicate how many Missed Calls records, unread Incoming messages, and Voicemail messages you currently have. Y ou can select these i cons to acce ss your call records and messages.

When you press any key or open t he phone, the backlights come on. They go of f when no keys are pressed within a period of time set in the Backlight menu.

19 Section 3: Call Functions This section provides procedures for making and answering calls. This section also describes features, such as call logs and call timers, that help you make calls and ma nage your call time. Making a Call 1. With the phon e on, enter the number you wish to call using the keypad.

21 Note: End Calls Before relaunching the VoiceSignal voice recognition software — When you use Voice Dialing to make a call, you must end that call before you can use other Voice Commands.

33 Add Pauses to Contacts Number s Calls to automated systems such as banking services often require a password or account number . Instea d of manually entering these numbers, you can st ore them in a Contacts entry with the phone number and with special characters called pauses, up to a maximum of 32 digits.

35 Saving a Number After a Call Once you finish a call, you can st ore the caller’ s number to your Contacts list. Note: If the call was incoming and Caller ID information was unavailable, then the Save option is also unavailable. 1. Press to end your call.

Messages 42 Section 7: Messages This section explains ho w to send or receive different types of messages. This section also describes the features and function ality associa t ed with messaging. Note: Although the procedures in this section are written for the phone keypad, you can also perform these procedures using the QWERTY keypad.

49 Messages and Lock Mode Y our phone can still receive me ssages while in Lock Mode. The time and date of the messa ge appear in the display , but you cannot access the message unti l you enter the lock code. Managing Inbox Messages 1. In the Messages menu, select Inbox .
Messages 50 Select an option to p erform its function. Draft Bo x Messages in the Draft Box are t hose that ha ve been composed but never sent. Y ou can return to the Draft Bo x at any time to view , edit, or send a draft message. Create a Dr aft Message 1.

Messages 52 Voicemail Messages in your voi ce mailbox ar e logged in the Voicem ail box of the Messages menu. Open the Voicemail box to view the details of the Voicemail messa ge.

V oice SV C Opti ons Y our Samsung SCH-r350 includes Nuance Vsuite, state-of-the- art voice recognition software that lets you use your voice to dial numbers, access your Contacts li st, and open T ools.

Changing Y our Settings 96 TTY Mode Y our phone is fully T eletypewriter (TTY)/ T elecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) compatible. Y ou connect TTY/TDD equipment to the headset connector on the top of your phone. Note: TTY Mode must be enabled ( TTY Full selected) before you can use your phone with TTY/TDD equipment.
97 Phone Settings 䊳 From the Settings menu, select Phone Settings . The following menus appear in the display: Airplane Mode When set to On , Airplane Mode disables all radi o functions o f your phone.
Changing Y our Settings 98 Lock Phone Locking the phone blocks all outgoing calls except those to 911 and to the three user -program med emergenc y numbers.
99 Note: Emergency number 911 is hard-coded into your phone. Y ou can dial this number any time, even when the phone is locked or restricted. If you call 911 an audible tone is heard and an Emergency prompt appears in the display for the duration of the call.

Restrictions Restrictions let you re strict the use of you r phone for outgoing calls/messages/data, incoming ca lls/messages/data, and calls/ messages placed by/to your Contacts.
