Introduction 1-1 Chapter 1 Introduction This Command Line Inter face Commands Refer ence contains infor mation on the syntax and use of the Command Line Inter face for the Motor ola Netopia ® router family . It provides infor mation r equired to configure the router fir mware and tr oubleshoot problems using the Command Line Inter face.
1-2 Command Line Interface Commands Reference Syntax Notation The command descriptions use for matted text to indicate various attributes of each command. The syntax is as follows: ■ Required keywor ds and commands that must be typed literally are in boldface .
Introduction 1-3 Interface Naming Conventions A number of commands described in this document requir e you to identify the router inter face to be af fected by the command. This requir es specifying both an inter face type (denoted intf-type ) and an inter face index (denoted id ).

Prefer ence settings persist across r estar ts, and are specific to the user name, if any , you used to authenticate yourself before issuing the pr eferences command.
