10 2. Hardware Installation 1. Connect the A DSL line. Connect the line p ort of the router of the device t o the mode m interface of a splitter using a telephone cable. Connect a telephon e to the Phone i nterface of the splitter usi ng a telephone cabl e.
11 3. Connect the power adap ter to the r outer. Plug one end of t he po wer adapter into a wall outlet and conn ect the other end to the 12 V interface of the devic e.
12 Configuration 2 0 sho ws the correct connecti on whe n a telephone set is installed before the splitter. Figure 2 - Connecti on diagram (Connecting a telephone set b efore the spl itter) Note : When Configurati on 2 is used, the filt er must be installed close to the telephone cable.
13 5. Firewall settings. Please turn off all personal fi rewalls before you con tinue the setup – firewall s can block communi cation between your PC and router. Note: You must us e the power adapter included in t he package wit h the router, do NOT att empt to use a third -party power ad apter.
14 3. Locate the “Netw ork Connections” i con and dou ble-click to open network connection sett ings. 4. Select the “Local Area Connectio n” icon an d right-cli ck it to open the sub-menu, then sel ect “Properties” .
15 5. Select “Internet Protoc ol (TCP/IP)” and t hen click “Properties” 6. Ensure that “Obtain an IP ad dress automatically” an d “Obtain DNS server address auto matically” are selected and then p ress “OK” .

IP Address Setting To use the router t o access the In ternet, the PCs in the n etwork must have an Ethernet adapter inst alled and b e connected to th e router either directly or through a hub or s witch. The TCP/IP protoc ol of each PC must be i nstalled and the IP Address of e ach PC has to be s et in the same subnet a s the router.
18 2. Click the Network icon and then select Op en Network a nd Sharing Center to open th e Network and Sh aring Center win dow. 3. Click Ethernet to open the Et hernet Stat us window , an d then select Properties . The Local Area Con nection window will appe ar.
19 4. Check your list of Network Components. Select I nternet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and clic k the Properties button. 5. In the In ternet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4 ) Properties window, s elect Obtain an IP a ddress automatically and Obtai n DNS server address automatically as shown on the foll owing screen.
20 6. Click OK (shown above) to confirm the sett ing. Your PC will now obtain an IP address automat ically from your r outer’s DHCP serv er. Note: Please make sure t hat the router’ s DHCP server is the only DHCP ser ver available on your LAN. 3.2.

In the In ternet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP v4 ) Properties window, s elect Obtain an IP a ddress automatically and Obtai n DNS server address automatically as shown on the foll owing screen. 5. Click OK to confi rm the setting. Your PC wil l now obtain an IP a ddress automatically from your r outer’s D HCP server.
