20 Preparations This chapter desc ribes basic oper ations, such as navi gating the menus, and first time settings to help you learn more about your camcorder . Charging the Battery Pack The camcorder can be powered with a battery pack or di rectly us ing the compact power adapter .
21 1 Slide in the direction of the arrow and hold i t pressed down. 2 Slide the battery pack down and then pull it out. Preparations 22 Preparing the Wireless Contr oller and Accessories First, insert the supplied lithium button battery CR2025 into the wireless controller . 1 Press the tab in the dir ection of the arrow and pull out the battery holder . 2 Place the lithium button battery with the + side facing up.
23 Accessories Fasten the grip be lt. • Adjust the grip belt so that you can reach the zoom lever with your index finger , and the button with your thumb. • Y ou can remove the grip belt and replace it with the supplied wrist strap. 1 Lift the padded handgrip's flap and detach the stra p from the Velcro pad.
Preparations 24 Pass the ends of the s houlder strap through the strap mount on the grip belt and adjust the length of the strap. Y ou can also remove the grip belt and attach the shoulder strap di rectly to the rear brac ket on the camcor der . 1 Pass the end of the strap through the rear bracket on the camcorder.
25 NOTES About the LCD screen: The screen is produced using extremely high-pr ecision manufacturing tec hniqu es, with more than 99.99% of the pixels operatin g to specification. Less than 0.01% of the pixels may occasionally misfire or appear as black, red, blue or green dots.
Preparations 26 Press the button again to return to the flexible recording mode (the button's light is off). Y ou can access the menus and change settings to your prefer ence. Even in flexible reco rding mode, the camcorder can help you with the settings.
27 Joystick and Joystick Guide Use the joystick to o perate the camcor der's menus. The joystick can als o be used in combination with the joys tick guide to operate additional f unctions. Pres s to display/hide the joystick guide. The functions that appear on the joystick guide will ch ange depending on the operating mode.

45 Cinema Mode: Giving a Cinematic Look to your Recordings Give your recordings a cinemati c look by using the [ CINE MODE] recor ding program. Combine this recor ding program with the 24 fps progr e ssive fra me rate [ PF24] to get the enhanced effect of the 24p Cinema Mod e.
Video 46 NOTES • [ NIGHT] - Moving subjects may leave a trailing afterimage. - Picture quality may not be as good as in other modes. - White points may appear on the screen. - Autofocus may no t work as well as in other modes. In such case, adjust the focus manually .
47 Changing the Shutter Speed and Aperture Use the automatic exposure (AE) program to use functi ons like the whit e balance or imag e effects, or give priority to the expo sure value o r the shutter speed.
