4 Safety Pr ecautions The precautions noted within this guide are intended to instruct you in the saf e and correct use of the products and to pre vent injuries or damage to yourself , other persons and proper ty . Please read and ensure that y ou understand them before proceeding to other sections of the guide.
5 Read This First About the Manuals This user guide describes how to connect the printer to your computer and print images. CP-300/CP-200 User Guide Provides printer handling notes, safety precautions, printer preparation, names of parts and other information necessary for operating the printer.
6 Printing Flow Diagram F ollow the steps outlined below to prepare the printer and install the necessar y softw are to enable printing. Prepare the printer . Insert paper cassette and ink cassette. See the CP-300/CP-200 User Guide. Install the necessary software .

8 Installing the Softwar e from the CP Printer Solution Disk Canon CP Printer Solution Disk contains software required f or pr inting from your computer . Installing 1 Close any pr ograms that are running. 2 Place the Canon CP Printer Solution Disk in the CD-ROM drive.
9 6 Read the software license agreement. If you agree to all of its conditions, clic k the [Agree] button. Y ou m ust agree to the software license agreement bef ore you can install the software . 7 V erify the installation destination by clic king the [Choose] button.
10 Installing the Printer Driver This section describes how to install the printer dr iv er on your computer . Installing 1 Close any pr ograms that are running. 2 Place the Canon CP Printer Solution Disk in the CD-ROM drive. 3 With Mac OS 9.0 - 9.2, double-c lick the [Canon CP Printer Installer] icon in the [Mac OS 9] folder on the CD-R OM.
11 6 Select [Easy Install], and then clic k the [Install] button. 7 Click the [Contin ue] button to automatically c lose any applications other than the installer . 8 Follow the messa g es on the screen to pr oceed. 9 When installation is completed, clic k the [Restar t] button.

13 T o uninstall the printer driver , use the installer . Important Be sure to follow the procedures described in this section to uninstall the printer. 1 Close any pr ograms that are running. 2 Place the Canon CP Printer Solution Disk in the CD-ROM drive.
14 6 Select [Uninstall], and then clic k the [Uninstall] button. 7 Click the [Contin ue] button to automatically c lose any applications other than the uninstaller .
15 ■ With Mac OS X T o continue , you m ust do the follo wing: 1) Double-clic k the hard disk icon where Mac OS X is installed. 2) Double-clic k the [Applications] folder . 3) Double-clic k the [Utilities] folder . 4) Double-clic k the [Print Center] icon.
16 T ur ning On the Printer Ref er to the abov e figure dur ing the f ollowing procedure (the numbers in the figure correspond to the steps in the procedure). 1 Place the printer on a flat surface. When printing, the paper temporarily projects out from the rear , so allow a clear space of at least 10 cm (4 inches) at the back.
17 Connecting the Printer to Y our Computer ■ Notes about connection • Using the USB cable, be sure to connect the printer directly to your computer.
18 1 Connect one end of the USB cable to the USB port on the printer , and the other end to a USB port on your computer . • There is no need to turn off the pr inter or your computer . • When connecting the printer to your computer , make sure the connectors on the ends of the USB cable match the terminals on the printer and your computer .
19 Printing This section describes how to use ImageBrowser to print images with the printer . ImageBrowser is an application included on the Canon CP Printer Solution Disk. This application makes it easy to print. The screen e xamples and descr iptions given in this section are f or the CP-300.
20 With Mac OS 9.0 - 9.2 Selecting a Printer with the Chooser 1 Open the (Apple) menu and select [Chooser]. 2 Click the [CP Printer Driver] icon. If the printer is connected, it appears in the [Destination] list. 3 Click the printer in the [Destination] list, then close the Chooser dialog by c licking in the upper left-hand corner .
21 Selecting an Image for Printing 1 Select an image you want to print fr om the browser area. Click the (PRINT) button to displa y a menu. From the menu, select [Lay out printing]. The Print window and La yout Options window appear . Browser area When the CP-200 or CP-300 is selected, you cannot select [Index printing].

23 4 After returning to the Lay out Options window , select “ Bordered ” or “ Bor derless ” , then clic k the [OK] button. If you select “ Bordered ” , the image is automatically resized to fi t within the print. The la yout settings are re fl ected in the Print window .
24 Setting the Printer Driver for Printing This section describes pr inting with modi fi ed printer dr iver settings . 1 Click the (PRINT) button. 2 Select [Color]. 3 T o adjust image quality , select [Custom]. Custom Click the [Adjust] b utton to adjust image quality freely .
25 4 After selecting [Custom] and clic king the [Adjust] button, adjust the brightness and color of the print result, then clic k the [OK] button. F or details, check the balloon help . 5 Select [Backgr ound Printing] and select a printing method. Adjust the brightness and contrast of prints.
26 6 Select [General], set the various options, and then clic k the [Print] button. V erify that the CP-300 or CP-200 is selected in [Printer]. For [Destination], y ou can select the f ollowing types of output. - Pr inter : Output is directed to the printer .
27 Y ou can sav e [Color] and [Background Printing] settings as [Pro fi les]. ■ T o register a pro fi le 1 Make [Color] and [Backgr ound Printing] settings. 2 Select [Add Pr o fi le]. 3 In the Add Pr o fi le window , type in a name and a comment for the pro fi le, and then click the [OK] b utton.
28 Printing Duplicate Images on an 8-Label Sheet ImageBrowser allo ws you to print duplicate images. This makes it possible to print multiple copies of the same image on an 8-label sheet. 1 In the Lay out Options window , select “ Photo printer multiple printing ” , and then clic k the [Next] b utton.
29 4 After returning to the Lay out Options window , clic k the [OK] button. Images are resized to fi t the label dimensions and are displa yed in the Print window . 5 Click the ima ge and select [Copy Image] on the ImageBro wser [Edit] menu. 6 Enter 7 and clic k the [OK] button.
30 7 Click the (PRINT) button to start printing. Printing Different Images on an 8-Label Sheet Y ou can also print a combination of different images on an 8-label sheet. 1 In the Lay out Options window , select “ Photo printer multiple printing ” , and then clic k the [Next] b utton.
31 3 For [P aper Size], select [CP_C size(L)], select the orientation, and then clic k the [OK] button. 4 After returning to the Lay out Options window , clic k the [OK] button. 5 From the br owser area, drag and drop the images to be printed onto the Print window .
32 Printing P ar t of an Image (T rimming) Y ou can select and then print a por tion of an image (trimming). This is useful when you only w ant to print par t of an image, or if the par t you are most interested in is not at the center of the image. 1 Click the ima ge you want to print, then select [Clipping] on the ImageBro wser [Edit] menu.
33 2 Select the portion of the image to be printed, then c lose the Clipping window . The Clipping window closes and the selected area appears in the Print window . 3 Click the (PRINT) button to start printing. After selecting the portion to be printed, this closes the window.
34 Printing with Image Quality Correction ImageBrowser has a function that supports Exif 2.2 (referred to as Exif Print) , allowing y ou to automatically optimize print quality and print clearer , better- looking images. 1 Click the ima ge you want to print, and select [Preferences] fr om the ImageBro wser [Edit] menu.
35 2 Select [Print] in the Preferences windo w, set image quality correction, and then clic k the [OK] button. 3 Click the (PRINT) button to start printing. Camera information such as scene and photographic conditions are embedded in images captured with cameras compatible with Exif 2.
36 With Mac OS X Starting ImageBrowser 1 Double-c lick the [Canon ImageBr owser] icon on the desktop. If the [Canon ImageBrowser] icon does not appear on the desktop , double-click the [Canon Utilities] f older , [ImageBrowser] f older , and [ImageBrowser] icon.

42 6 Select [Copies & P ages], and set the various options. When printing in the background, printing cannot be resumed if the printer runs out of paper while printing. To avoid this, load more sheets of paper than required for the number of images to be printed.
43 7 Click the [Print] b utton. Printing star ts. T o use a registered setting, select [Custom]. For Mac OS X v10.2, select the name you entered after selecting [Sa ve As] in [Presets]. You can save data as a PDF file by selecting [Output Options], selecting “ Save as File ” and then clicking the [Save] button.
44 Printing Duplicate Images on an 8-Label Sheet ImageBrowser allo ws you to print duplicate images. This makes it possible to print multiple copies of the same image on an 8-label sheet.

57 Error Messages If an error occurs while printing is in progress, an error message appears on the screen of your computer .
