Installatio n 14 En This section describes a suitable installation locat ion to install this unit using a metal w all bracket, a rack or a stand. Depending on your installation en vironment, connections with extern al components can be done before installing this unit.

19 En Connections PREP ARA TION English This unit is equipped with 2 HDMI input jacks and 1 HDMI ou tput jack. If your TV and other components ha v e HDMI jacks, use HDMI cables for simpler and easier conne ctions, and you can skip the connection procedures from page 20 to 23.
20 En Connec tions For audio connection, connect the analog audio output jacks on you r TV to th e TV/STB A UDIO IN jacks on this unit. If your TV has an optical digita l output jack, connect the opt ical digital output jack on your TV to the TV/STB OPTICAL DIGIT AL IN jack on this unit.

27 En Connections PREP ARA TION English Connect the supplied D AB antenna to the ANTENN A jack on this unit and secure the D AB antenna vertically in an unobtrusi ve location. y It is recommended that you use TUNE AID ( see page 54) when connecting the D AB antenna in order to maximize DAB reception capability .

GETTING STARTED 29 En SETUP English 1 Press and hold the mark on the battery cover and then open the cover . 2 Insert the two supplied batteries (AA, R6, UM-3) into the ba ttery compartment. Make sure you insert the batteries according to the polarity markings (+/–).
Getting started 30 En 1 Press ST AND BY/ON to turn on the po wer of this unit. The volume le vel appears in the front panel display , and the current input sour ce and beam mode are displayed. 2 Press ST A NDBY/ON again to set this unit to the standb y mod e.
USING SET MENU 31 En SETUP English This section describes how to display the OSD ( on-screen display) of this unit on your TV screen and to set the parameters for your listening room. Once this is complete, you can enjoy real surround sound while watching TV in the comfort of your o wn home.

CHANGING OSD LANGUAGE 33 En SETUP English This feature allo ws you to select the language of your choice that appears in SET ME NU of this unit. 1 Set the operat ion mode selector to YSP. 2 Press MENU. The SET MENU screen appears on your TV . y • The control buttons used for SET MENU are displayed at the bottom of the screen.
AUTO SETUP (INTELLIBEAM) 34 En This unit creates a sound f ield b y re flecting sound beams on the walls of your listening room and by broadening the cohesion of all the channels. Just as yo u would arrange the speaker position of other audio systems, you need to set the beam angle to enjoy the best possible sound from this unit.
AUTO SETUP (I ntelliBeam) 35 En SETUP English The supplied IntelliBeam micro phone collects and analyzes the sound that th is unit produces in your actual listen ing en vironment.

USING THE SYSTEM MEMORY 41 En SETUP English Y ou ca n sav e the current settings adjusted in SET MENU in the system memory of this unit. It is handy to sa ve certain settings according to the v arying conditions of your listening en vironment.
Using the system memory 42 En 5 Press / to select MEMORY1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3 and press ENTER. The following screen ap pears on your TV . 6 Press ENTER again. The new parameters are sa ved as MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3. Once the parameters are saved, the display returns to the SE T MENU screen.
Using the system memory 43 En SETUP English 4 Press / to select LO AD and press ENTER. The follo wing screen appears on your TV . 5 Press / to select MEMOR Y1, MEMOR Y2, or MEMOR Y3 and press ENTER. The follo wing screen appears on your TV . 6 Press ENTER again.
PLAYBACK 44 En Y ou can play back sound from the components connected to this unit simply b y pres sing INPUT on the front panel repeatedly or pressing one of the input selector buttons (TV, STB, D VD, A UX1, A UX2, or A UX3) on the remote control.
45 En Playback BA S I C OPERA TION English Press A UX1 (or A UX2) to p l ay ba ck a c om p o ne n t connected to the A UX 1 (o r A UX 2) ja ck on the rear panel of this unit. Press A UX3 to play bac k a component connected to the A UX 3 input jac k on the front panel.
46 En Playback Press V OLUME +/– to increase or decrease the volume level. The numeric value of the volume lev el appears in the front panel display . Control range: MIN (minimum), 01 to 99, MAX (maximum) • The volume lev el of all inpu t sources (including multi-channel as well as stereo sources) changes at the same time.
DAB (DIGITAL AUDIO BROADCASTING) 47 En BA S I C OPERA TION English D AB (Digital Audio Broadcasting), also kno wn as digital radio, is a ne w wa y of ra dio broadcasting. D AB is broadcast using digital signals instead of analog signals, resulting in near CD-quality sound.
48 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) Before tuning into D AB serv ices, you must perform the initial scan. 1 Press D AB repeatedly to select D AB. “Initiate Scan” appe ars in the front panel display .
49 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) BA S I C OPERA TION English For D AB tuning, you do not t une in by station frequenc y (like FM/A M), b ut tune in via the channel label instead. There are fi ve D AB tuning modes: ALPHANUMERIC, A CTIVE, ENSEMBLE, F A VOURITE, and PRESET.
50 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) The PRESET MEMOR Y mode is used to assign up to 99 preset numbers to D AB services. 1 T une into the D AB service you would like to assign a preset number to. 2 Press MEMOR Y. The MEMOR Y indicator flashes for about ten seconds.
51 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) BA S I C OPERA TION English ■ PRESET tuning W ith PRESET tuning, you can t une into D AB services by entering the assigned preset D AB service number . 1 Switch to D AB recepti on and select PRESET as the tuning mode by follo wing step s 1 through 3 as described in “D AB tuning” on page 49.
52 En DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) The DISPLA Y key sho ws v arious information about the service currently being broadcast. y A letter that cannot be displayed in the front panel displa y is displayed as “_” (underscore). Up to 16 characters can be displa yed in the fr ont panel display at one time.

USING IPOD™ 57 En BA S I C OPERA TION English This unit has the DOCK terminal on the rear panel that allo ws you to connect the Y amaha iPod uni versal dock (such as YDS-10, sold separately). PLAYING BACK SOUND CLEARLY (MY BEAM) 67 En BA S I C OPERA TION English Y ou can improv e listenability in a noisy en vironment b y changing the beam mode to My Beam, which o utputs sound beams directly tow ard the liste ning position in a single channel.
68 En Playing back sound clearly (My Beam) Y ou can adjust the beam a ngle manually while playing back an input source . This function is also ideal if the listening position is out of th e operation guarantee range of the auto-adjust function. 1 Set the operation mode selector to YSP.

The CINEMA DSP indicator lights up in the front p anel display when one of the CINEMA DSP programs is selected.

USING TH E SLEEP TIMER 76 En Use this feature to automatic ally set this unit to the st andby mode after a specif ied period of time. The sleep time r is useful if you are going to sleep after a certain amount of time while th is unit is still playing back a source.

84 En MANUAL SETUP HORIZONT AL ANGLE (Horizonta l angle) Use to adjust the horizontal angle of sound beams fo r each channel. By adjusting the horizontal angle of the sound beams, you can optimize the so und beam path s. A test tone is automatically output.
85 En MANUAL SETUP AD V ANC ED OPERA TION English FOCAL LENGTH (Focal length) Use to set the distance from the front of t his unit to the focal point of output for each channel t o achiev e an expansi ve feeling for each channel. The focal points except for the center channel should be set near the reflection points on the w alls.
86 En MANUAL SETUP ■ IMA GE LOCA TION (Image location) Use to adjust the direction from which the front left and right channel sound is heard so that each sound can be heard closer to th e center channel.
87 En MANUAL SETUP AD V ANC ED OPERA TION English B ASS OUT (Bass out) Lo w-frequenc y (bass) signals can be directed to the subwoofer and/or the front le ft and right channels. This setting also determines the routing of LFE (lo w-frequency effect) signals found in Do lby Digital or DTS sources.
