SELECTING AND EDITING PR OGRAM P ARAMETERS WHA T IS A SOUND FIELD? In order to e xplain the impressiv e functions of the DSP system, we need to first understand what a sound field really is . What really creates the rich, full tones of a live instrument are the multiple reflections from the w alls of the room.
English In addition to the “TYPE” parameter which selects the sub- programs within each sound field prog ram (e.g. “Hall A in Europe” and “Hall B in Europe” f or program 1, “CONCER T .
DESCRIPTIONS OF THE DIGIT AL SOUND FIELD P ARAMETERS Not all of the f ollo wing par ameters are f ound in e v ery program. ● ROOM SIZE How it Aff ects the Sound: Changes the apparent size of the m usic v en ue . The larger the v alue , the larger the simulated room will sound.
English ● LIVENESS How it Aff ects the Sound: This parameter changes the apparent reflectivity of the w alls in the hall. The early reflections from a sound source will lose intensity (deca y) m uch f aster in a room with acoustically absorbent w all surf aces than in one which has mostly reflectiv e surf aces .
● REV . DELA Y (Reverberation Dela y) This parameter sets the time diff erence between the beginning of the direct sound and the beginning of the re v erberation sound.
English ● P . INIT . DL Y (Presence Initial Delay) Adjusts the dela y betw een the direct sound and the first reflection on the presence side of the sound field. The larger the v alue , the later the first reflection begins. Control Range: 1 – 49 milliseconds ● P .
The remote control unit, in addition to controlling the most commonly used functions of the main unit and other connected Y amaha audio and video equipment, has a sophisticated “lear ning” function that allo ws it to control other equipment in your system or other household appliances equipped with infrared remote control receiv ers.
English NO TE : The originally preset function of a ke y is still av ailable in the USER position if the ke y does not lear n a ne w function. NO TE : If there is no more room in the memor y area f or a function to be lear ned, the TRANSMIT/LEARN indicator will flash on and off eight times.
PROBLEM Power does not come on. Hum. No sound. No sound from the effect speakers. No sound from the front effect speakers. No sound from the center speaker. Poor bass reproduction. The sound suddenly goes off. The volume level cannot be increased, or sound is distorted.
English PROBLEM The sound is degraded when listening with the headphones connected to the compact disc player or cassette deck that are connected with this unit. The remote control unit does not function properly. The remote control unit cannot learn a new function from another remote control unit.
