Preparing Y our Phone For U se 1 Pr epar ing Y our Phone Fo r U se Inser t ing a SIM Card 1. T urn the phon e ov er , and release the battery latch. Lift the batt ery off the phone. 2. S lide the SIM card into the SIM card slot, with the SIM card's metal contacts facing down and the cut corner at the top right.
2 Preparing Y our Phone For Use Installing a Battery an d Charg ing the Phone 1. With the batt ery's metal contacts facing down, align the protruding tabs on the end with the holes in the battery bay of the phone. Then push the batt er y to ward the e nd of the bay to insert the batte ry's tabs into the holes .
Preparing Y our Phone For U se 3 2. Plug the charger int o a power outlet. 3. Insert the charger c onnector deep into the ph one until the c onnector clicks int o place. M ake su re y ou insert the connector in the correct orientation (the side showing "UP" faces y ou).

Once the pho ne is fu lly char ged, remove t he char ger from bot h the powe r outlet and the phone. • Charging requir es approximately 4 hour s. • When the battery is o ut of power , the phone will play an alert sound to remind you to recharge it and then will automatical ly turn off.

Using Y our Phone 37 T ur ning Off the Ring T one for an Incoming Call When the flip is c losed, you can temporarily mu te the ring t one for an incoming call to av oid disturbing others. T o do this, long pre ss the low er portion of the vol ume key on the left sid e of the phone.

Using Y our Phone 41 Phone Book Adding C ontacts to the Phone Book The phone book in your phone's memor y can store up to 500 contact s. The capacity of a phone book on your SIM card depends on the particular service provided by your network vendor .
42 Using Y our Phon e Used to select a caller group for the cont act. Press to select a group and then press . When there is an inco ming call from this cont act, the ring ton e assigned to this group will sound and th e display will show the image associated with the group.

The cur rently active call w ill automatically be plac ed on hold. H owev er , if there is already one acti ve call and another on hold, this action will fail.
Using Y our Phone 49 DTMF On/ Off When the phone is connecte d with other dev ices or services, y ou can send DTMF (Dual T one Modulation Fr equency) strings. DTMF strings are keypad tones that can be sent via the micro phone as you dial another n umber .
