C H A P T E R 1 I NTRODUCTION Product Description The 1529L is a retail terminal designed to present inf ormation to the operator a nd the customer . The 1529L is availa ble in seri al a nd USB versions or combo touch monitor . The 1529L consists of a 15.
The credit card rea der rea ds all three stri pe s on a sta ndard credit card or drivers license. The credit card is rea d by sliding the credit card, stripe side toward the display through the credit card rea der forward or ba ckward. There is a USB credit card rea der only .

V ideo ca ble Connect one end of the video ca ble to the rear side of computer a nd the other to the LCD. T ighten by turning the two thumb screws clockwise to ensure proper grounding.
Speaker ca ble Connect one end of the speaker ca ble to the speaker port in the computer a nd the other end to the port in the monitor. 2-15.
USB ca ble Connect one end of the USB ca ble to the rear side of the computer a nd the other to the LCD monitor. The USB ca ble is f or optional touch, MSR, CD a nd Finger Print Rea der . Only one USB ca ble is needed because the device contains a self powered USB 1.

Replace the Cable Cover Ca ble cover li p ca bles Then you have attached all the ca bles to the monitor , gently bring all the ca bles toward the sta ndard so they fit under the cover li p.
Optimizing the LCD Display T o ensure the LCD display works well with your computer , configure the display mode of your gra phic card to make it less tha n or equal to 1024 x 768 resolution, a nd make sure the ti ming of the display mode is compatible with the LCD display .
Magnetic Stri pe Re ader No device are needed. T e sting the USB MSR Keyboard Emulation 1 Plug in the device. 2 Open MS W ord. 3 Slide the card through the MSR to view the data. T e sting the USB-HID Cla ss MSR 1 On the CD, browse to T ouch Monitor Peri pheralsM agnetic Stri pe Card ReadersDe mo.
Convert MSR from keyboard e mulation to HID 1 T o convert from Keyboard Emulation mode to HID mode 1.1 Double-click on the “MSR Cha nge Mode” icon on the desktop. The following will a ppear: 1.2 The di m box will indicate the current setting. Click the “HID Mode” to switch to HID mode.

Installing the USB T ouch Driver In stalling the USB T ouch Driver for W indows XP , Windows 2000, Me a nd 98 1 Insert the Elo CD-ROM in your computer’s CD-ROM drive. If W indows XP , W indows 2000,W indows 98, or W indows Me starts the Add New Hardware W izard: 2 Choose Next .
C H A P T E R 3 O PERA TION About T ouchmonitor Adjustments Y our touchmonitor will unlikely require a djustment. V ariations in video output a nd ap- plication may require a djustments to your touchmonitor to optimize the quality of the display.

Power-Save (No In put) • The LCD pa nel background is cut when there is no signal input (AC line power consumption of 4w or less). Power LED Display & Power Saving General Power Saving Mode When the power switch are switch on , this LED lights in green .

C H A P T E R A N A TIVE R ESOLUTION The native resolution of a monitor is the resolution level at which the LCD pa nel is designed to perf orm be st. For the Elo LCD touchmonitor , the native resolution is 1024 x 768 for the 15.0 inch size. In almost all ca ses, screen images look best when viewed at their native re solution.
As a n exa mple, a SV GA resolution LCD pa nel ha s 800 pixels horizontally by 600 pixels vertically . Input video is also repre sented by the same terms.

7 SECTI ON 3. OPE R A TION C AR D RE AD A card may be swiped past the rea d head at an y time. The ma gnetic stripe must face toward the head and may be swiped in either direction. If there is data encoded on the card, the device will attempt to decode the data and then send the results to the host via a USB HID input report.

Section 4. USB Communications 15 RESUL T CODE This one-b yte field conta ins the value of the resu lt code. Th ere are two t ypes of resu lt codes: generic result codes an d command-sp ecific result codes. Generic result codes alwa ys have t he most significant bit set to zero.

This propert y is stored in no n-volatile EEPROM memory so it w ill not change when the unit is power cycled.
