18 2.4 - Tips on Insta lling Motherboard in Chassis Before inst alling yo ur mother board, make sure y our ch assis has the necessary motherbo ard sup po rt studs ins tall ed. The se stud s are usual ly metal and are gold in color. U sually, the cha ssis manufact urer w ill pre-install the support s tuds.
19 2.5 - Inst alling the Pr ocessor(s) Your T empest i5000VS S53 72-LC supports th e latest processor te chnologies from Intel. C heck the TY AN website for latest processor support: http://www.tyan.c om Processor Instal lation The process or should be installed carefully.
20 3. Lift the metal cov er to ex pose the socket interior and place the soc k et i n as show n. 4. C lose the cov er and return the loc k ing lever to its locked position. 5. 21 8. R epeat this pro c edure f or the second proc essor. Cooling Fan Installat ion After you hav e instal led the proce ssor, the heatsi nk should be installed to ensure th at the proce ssor runs efficie ntly and does not ov erheat. Us e the heatsin k supplied for best results.
22 2.6 - Inst alling the M emory Before inst alling me mory, ensure that th e memory y ou hav e is com patible w ith the motherboar d and processor. Only DDR2-667/5 33 Fully Buffer DIMM (FB DIMM) modules are req uired. Check the T YAN W eb site at : www.
23 Memory Installation Procedure Follow the se instr uction s to ins tall me mory mo dules into the Tempest i50 00VS S5372-LC. 1. Press the locking lev ers in the direction show n in the fol lowin g illustr ation. 2. Align the memory modul e with the socket.
24 2.7 - A t taching Drive Cables Attaching IDE Dr ive Cable Attaching the ID E drive cable is simple. T hese cables are “ keyed” to only allow them to be conn ected in the corre ct manner. T YAN motherboards have tw o on-board IDE c hannels, each supporting tw o drives.

26 2.8 - Inst alling A dd-In Cards Before installing add- in cards, it’s helpful to know if they are fully compa tib le with your moth erboard. For thi s reason, w e’ve provided the d iagrams below, showing th e slots th at appear on your moth erboard.

28 2.10 - Installing the P ower Supply There are tw o power con necto rs on your T empest i5000VS S5372-LC . T he Tempest i50 00VS S5372-LC requires t hat you have an EPS 12V power supply that has a 24- pin and an 8-pin power connector . Please be a ware that AT X 2.
29 Chapter 3: BIOS S etup 3.1. A bout the BIOS The BIOS is th e basic input/ output system, th e firmw are on the motherboard that enables y our hardware to interface w ith your soft ware. The BIOS determine s what a comput er can do w ithout a ccessing programs from a dis k .
30 3.1.3 In Ca se of Problem s If you have tr ouble booting yo ur computer after making and saving the change s with the BIOS setup progra m, you can restart th e computer by holding the power button down unti l the c omputer s huts off (usually w ithin 4 seconds); resetting by pressing CTRL-ALT -DEL; or clearing the CM OS.
31 3.2 BIOS Main Menu In this sect ion, you can alter general feature s such as the da te and time, as well as acces s to the IDE configur ation options. N ote that the options listed below are for option s that can directl y be change d within the M ain Setup screen.

This translation may be done in the same way that it is done in Extended C HS or large mode, or it may be done using a different alg orithm called LBA-assist translation. 34 3.2.2 M emory Cache This set ting allow s you to tweak the various cache s ettings fo r optimal performance o f your system. P ress Enter to disp lay the v arious cache settings .
