One bobby pin, metal or plastic toy , nail or sharp object in a load can catch laundry and cause tears . F acial tissue left in a pocket will produce extr eme “lint”.

Mix lar ge and small items in a load to get the best washing r esults . • Load items loosely into the wash drum. The bulk of the clothes r at her than the weight will determine load size.
-8- 801989 W ash T emperature Guide Energy Y ou can save ener gy when washing by following a few guidelines: 1. Heating water accounts for the gr eatest ener gy expense when washing. Sav e on heating water by using warm or cold washes as well as cold rinses .

Make sur e the washer hoses ar e connected to the hot and cold wate r faucets , and that the faucets are turned on.

-12- 801989 T o Change Cycles If the selected cycle is not the corr ect cycle for the fabric being washed, you may change the cycle selection at any time un til the first wash fill is complete. Once the washer has filled for the first part of the cycle (the wash portion), the current cycle must be aborted and a new cycle must be started.

Use low sudsing, high efficiency (HE) powd ered or liquid deter gents that ar e recommended for use with frontload washers .
-16- 801989 Liquid Bleach Compar tment The bleach compartment is located in the left front corner of the dispenser dr awer . Refer to compartment 2 of illustration. It has been designed to pr event the dispensing of undiluted bleach onto the clothes load.

Bedding • Warm wash and warm rinse, if av ailable. • Use PERMANENT PRESS cycle. • P retr eat heavily soiled areas befor e washing. • When washing an electric blanket, protect the plug by stitching the edge of the blanket over the plug.

-20- 801989 Clothing Concerns T o keep clothes looking white or br ight, use good washing pr actices at all times to prev ent a gr adual build-up of soil or water har dness minerals on them. If you notice that your clot hes ar e not as bright as they should be, take corr ectiv e measur es immediately .
-21- 801989 Laundr y Products Laundr y Aids Use Comments Soak/P retr eat Pr o d u c t s • Use a pr etreating agent and soak ov ernight to r emove stains and soils . • Always follow manufactur er’ s instructions with any pr etreat pr oduct (Spray ‘N Wash, Shout*, etc .
-22- 801989 Stain Removal • Many soils will not become stains if tr eated promptly . Older stains may be difficult or impossible to r emove . Hot water will set some stains , par ticularly protein based stains . Use cold or warm water on these befor e washing in hot water .
-23- 801989 Chocolate or Cocoa Rinse with cold water . Rub deter gent into stain and soak in cold water . If greasy stain r emains , sponge face down on paper towels wi th a pre treat pr oduct. If traces of the stain r emain, wash in hot water and chlorine bleach (if safe for fabric).
-24- 801989 Ketchup , T omato-Based P roducts Scr ape off excess . Soak in co ld water 30 minutes . Rub deter gent into the stain and, if safe for fabric, wash in ho t water and chlorine bleach. Lipstick Rub dampened stain with bar soap and wash. Lotion (Hand, Body , Suntan) Scr ape off excess .

-26- 801989 Maintenance Lubrication • All moving parts are sealed in a permanent supply of lubricant or ar e equipped with oilless bearings . Additional lubrication will not be necessary .
