13 Hookup s and Settings Step 3 : Conn ectin g the A udio C ords Select one of the fo llowin g pattern s, A or B , according to the input jack on your TV monitor, projector, or AV amplifi er (rec eiver). This will enable you to l isten to s ound. * Th e yellow p lug is u sed for video si gnals (page 11).

This will c ause u nwanted noise to com e from your TV’s speakers. • With conne ction B , do not connect t he LINE IN (R-AUDIO-L) and LINE 2 OUT (R-AUDIO-L) jacks to your TV’s a udio output jacks at the same time.
15 Hookup s and Settings Step 5 : Prep aring the Remote You ca n contro l the recor der using t he supplied r emote. Inser t two R6 (size AA) batteri es by matc hing the 3 an d # ends on the batt eries to t he markings in side the batte ry comp artment .

17 Hookup s and Settings 4 Selec t “Others, ” and pr ess ENTE R. 5 Select “C omm and Mode ,” and press ENTE R. 6 Selec t a C ommand Mode ( DVD1, DVD2 , or DVD 3), and pre ss ENTER . 7 Set th e Command Mode fo r the remo te so it matches the Command Mode for the reco rder you se t above.

19 Hookup s and Settings Connec ting a VCR o r Simi lar De vice After disconn ecting the record er’s mains lead from the mains, conne ct a VCR or similar recording device to the LINE IN jacks of this re corder. For detail s, re fer to the instruct ion manual s upplied wi th the conn ected equipme nt.
20 Connect a VCR or similar r ecording devic e to the LINE 2 IN jacks of this re corder. If the equip ment has a n S-vide o jack, you c an use an S- video co rd instea d of an audi o/video cord. z Hint When the connected eq uipment outputs only monaural sound, conne ct to just the L(MONO) and VIDEO input jacks on the front of the recorde r.

For DVD +RWs, yo u can free up disc s pace by erasi ng tit les (page 54). • A djust the rec ording pictur e quali ty and pict ure size if necess ary (pag e 41).

41 Timer Rec ording You can set the record er to recor d in 30 minute increments . Press z RE C repeated ly to s et the duration. Each pres s adva nces the time in 30 min ute increments. The maximum duration is six hours. The time counter dec reases minute by minu te to 0 :00, th en the reco rder s tops re cord ing (t he power does not t urn off).
