Connecting a Power Source 9 Connecting a Power Source Y ou can use either AC power or a r echargeable battery pack as a power source. Using the AC Adapter 1 Slide the LCD lock leve r in the dir ection of the arr ow as indicated below , and lift the cover .

(See “Using Power Saving Modes” on page 42.) Additional battery packs are available as a separate option.

Using the Floppy Disk Drive 31 T o use as an internal drive 1 If another device is in the multipurpose bay , remove the de vice. See “T o remove the floppy disk drive” on page 32 or “T o remove the second battery pack” on page 45. 2 Insert the floppy disk drive into the multipurpose bay with the V AIO logo facing up.

When using an external drive, choose, “Remove external FDD” instead.
Using the DVD-ROM Drive 33 Using the DVD-ROM Drive Y our computer comes with a DVD-ROM drive. Y ou can play both DVDs and CDs. T o insert a disc 1 T urn on the computer . 2 Press the E ject button to open the DVD-ROM drive. The tray slides out. 3 Place a DVD or CD in the tray with the label side facing up.

When you use a T ype III PC card, you need to remove bo th the top and bottom PC car d slot pr otectors. 3 Insert the PC card into the PC car d slot, fr ont label facing up. Gently push the car d into the slot until the car d is fixed into the connector .

Using Smart Connect 39 Using Smart Connect The pr einstalled Smart Co nnect softwar e allows you to use an i.LINK cable (not supplied) to connect your V AIO notebook to another V AIO computer that also has Smart Connect. Y ou can then use one computer to copy , and edit files on the other computer .

Using Power Saving Mode s 43 System Suspend Mode The computer saves the cur r ent state of the system in RAM and switch es of f power to the CPU. The r ed power indicator light flash es in this mode. T o activate System Suspend mode Press Fn +Esc, or pr ess the power button and release it immed iately .

Connecting the Mini Docking Station 49 Connecting the Mini Docking Station Y ou can use the PCGA-PSX1 Mini Docking Station (optional) to connect peripheral devices such as a printer or external d isplay .

When a charg ed battery is inserted in your computer , you can attach and detach the Mini Docking Station without turning of f the computer .

The message DV equipm ent seems to be disconnected or turned off appears. ❑ Check that the DV device is turned on and that the cables ar e properly connected. ❑ If you are using multiple i.LINK devices, the combination of the connected devices may cause unstable operation.

In Sony Notebook Setup, select the Printer tab. If the printer port mode is set to ECP , change it to bi-dir ectional.
