Connecting a Power Sou rce There are two battery indicator lights on the computer: Battery Indicator Meaning 1 Indicates the status of the battery pa ck in the battery bay on the left side of the computer . 2 Indicates the status of the battery pack in the multipurpo se drive bay on the right side of the computer .

Using the Keyboard ' Combinations and Functions with the Fn Key Combinations/ Feature Functio n Fn+ (ESC) System Suspend Puts the system into System Suspend mode , a power - management state . T o return the system to the active state , press any k ey or press the power button on your computer .

Using the Floppy Disk Drive ! Using the Floppy Disk Drive The computer comes with the flopp y disk dri v e in the multipurpose dri v e bay . T o insert a diskett e Hold the di skette with th e label side fac ing up. Gently push the diskette into the drive until it clicks into pl ace.

Using t he CD-ROM # Using the CD-ROM Y our computer comes with a CD-R OM. T o insert a disc T urn on the compu ter . Press the Eject button to open the CD-ROM drive. The tray slides out. Place a CD-ROM in the tray with the label side fa cing up.
Notebook User Guide $ Close the tray by pushing it gently . Be sure to seat the disc firmly over the hub fingers . If you do not seat the disc firmly , you could damage your CD-ROM drive and you may not be able to open the tray . When you finish using a disc, wait until the LED indicator ligh t turns off .
Using PC Cards % Using PC Cards Y our computer includes two PC card slots. PC cards allow you to connect portable external de vices such a s another har d disk driv e, or to conn ect to a network. T o insert a PC car d Use the lo wer slot for T ype III PC cards.

Y ou can use this port to communicate with other infrared-equipp ed de vices with compatible pro tocols, such as a di gital still camera or other comput ers.
