1 NO TE FOR USERS IN THE U .K. The mains lead of this product is fitted with a non-rewireab le (moulded) plug incorporating a 3A fuse. Should the fuse need to be replaced, a BSI or AST A appro ved BS 1362 fuse marked or and of the same rating as abov e, which is also indicated on the pin f ace of the plug must be used.

10 SOUND CONTR OL ■ V olume (Main unit operation) When the VOLUME contr ol is turned clockwise, the vol- ume will increase. When it is turned anti-clockwise, the volume will decrease. (Remote control operation) Press the VOLUME button to increase the v olume and the V OLUME button to decrease the v olume .

12 MINIDISC OPERA TION 1 Press the ON/ST AND-BY button to turn the po wer on. 2 Press the MD ■ button. 3 Load a MiniDisc in the direction indicated b y the ar- ro w on the MiniDisc, with the labelled side facing up. ● The disc name will be displa yed only when it has been programmed.

19 ■ Differences fr om tape recor dings Y ou cannot record music on the re verse side of a Mini- Disc. MiniDiscs are single sided and should only be inser ted with the correct side up. Y ou don't need to search f or the star ting point at which to record.
20 (Continued) ■ Recording fr om a CD onto a MiniDisc (One-T ouch Editing) A CD can be recorded to a MiniDisc, star ting from the first trac k, with one-touch operation. T o cancel the operation: Before pressing the CD 0 MD EDIT ST ART b utton, press the CD ■ button.
21 ■ T rack editing fr om a CD onto a MiniDisc Y ou can record sev eral consecutive trac ks, star ting from the first track of a CD , to a MiniDisc. 6 Press the CD 0 0 0 0 0 MD EDIT ST ART button. 0 REC ● The CD loaded will be recorded in order , star ting from the first trac k.
22 ■ APMS recording fr om a CD onto a MiniDisc 1 Select tracks f or APMS playback (page 14). 2 Load a recordable MiniDisc. 3 Press the CD 0 0 0 0 0 MD EDIT ST ART button. ● APMS playbac k will star t, and recording will star t auto- matically . ● Programmed trac ks will be recorded in order.
23 ■ Recor ding from the built-in radio onto a MiniDisc 1 T une in to the desired station (pages 17 - 18). 2 Load a recordable MiniDisc. 3 Press the ● REC button. ● The unit will enter the recording stand-by mode . 4 Check the recor dable time by pressing the DISPLA Y button.
24 ■ T o create a disc name 6 After entering all of the characters in the name, press the NAME/T OC EDIT button. ● The disc name will be recorded. T o erase a disc name: After perf orming steps 1 to 3. Press the TIMER/DELETE button f or 2 seconds or more.

27 ■ Divide ■ Combine 1 Play the trac k which you want to divide into tw o, and press the MD 06 06 06 06 06 b utton at the point where y ou want to divide the track. 2 Press the NAME/T OC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "DIVIDE" using the jog dial.
28 ■ Move 1 Whilst in the stop mode, select the track you want to move using the jog dial. Or start playing the track to be mo ved, and then press the MD 06 06 06 06 06 button. 2 Press the NAME/T OC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "MO VE" using the jog dial.
29 ■ Erase T o erase all of the tracks at once: 1 Press the MD ■ button. ● The total number of trac ks and the total pla ying time on a MiniDisc will appear . 2 Press the NAME/T OC EDIT b utton, and within 10 sec- onds, select "ALL ERASE" using the jog dial.
30 TIMER OPERA TION ■ Timer playbac k/Timer recording 6 T urn the jog dial to set the minute to star t, and then press the MEMOR Y/ENTER button. I If the ending time is not set manually , it will automatically be set f or one hour after the star ting time.

34 The disc is stored in a car tridge. Y ou can handle it easily with- out worrying about dust, finger prints, etc. Howe ver , dust en- tering the opening of the car tridge, dir t on the car tridge, warp- ing, etc. may cause malfunctions . Please note the following.
35 ■ If a problem occur s If this unit functions abnor mally during operation, first check the f ollowing items. If the unit continues to function abnormally , or if an abnor mality appears other than listed belo w , set this unit to the stand-by mode and disconnect the AC po wer plug, then consult your SHARP dealer or ser vice personnel.
