Key Features 1. Earpiece lets you hear the caller and automated prompts. 2. Main LCD (display) displays all the information needed to operate your phone, suc h as the call status, the Contacts list, the date and time, and the signal and batter y strength.
15. Side Volume Key allows you to adjust the ringer volume in standby mode or adjust the voice volume during a call. T o mute the ringer during an incoming call, press the volume key up or down. The volume key can also be used to scroll up or down to navigate through the differ ent menu options.
Viewing the Display Screen This list identifies the symbols you’ ll see on your display screen. indicates your current signal strength. The more lines you hav e, the stronger y our signal. means your phone cannot find a signal. indicates the call is on hold.
indicates the handset is discover able by another Bluetooth device. indicates the handset is communicating with a Bluetooth device. indicates your access to a secure site. shows the level of y our batter y charg e. The more black you see, the more po wer you ha ve left.
T urning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On 䊳 Press and hold . Once your phone is on, it displa ys “Looking for service... ” which indicates that your phone is searc hing for a signal. When your phone finds a signal, it automatically enters standby mode.
Using the Battery Installing the Battery 1. Insert the batter y into the opening on the back of the phone and gentl y press down. 2. Place the batter y cov er into the position as indicated in the diagram, and slide it until you hear it snap into place.
Charging the Battery Y our phone comes with a rechargeab le batter y . Y ou should charg e the batter y as soon as possible so y ou can begin using your phone.
Navigating Through Phone Menus The navigation key on your phone allows you to scr oll through menus quickl y and easily . T o navigate through a menu, simply pr ess the navigation key up or down.
11 Displaying Y our Phone Number 䊳 Select > Settings > Phone Info > My Phone# . (Y our phone number and other information about your phone will be display ed.) T ip: Y ou can also display your phone number through the Contacts menu. Select > Contacts > My Name Card .
Dialing Options Dialing options are display ed when you pr ess (right softkey) after enter ing numbers in standby mode. 䢇 Abbrev . Dial to use the Abbreviated Dialing featur e. (See “Setting Abbr eviated Dialing” on pa g e 43 and “Using Abbr eviated Dialing” on pa g e 21.
Answering Calls T o answer an incoming call: 1. Make sure your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go to v oicemail.) 2. Press or to answ er an incoming call. Y our phone notifies you of incoming calls in the follo wing ways: 䢇 The phone rings and/or vibrates.
Setting Answer on Hold This featur e allows you to hold an incoming call when y ou cannot answ er immediately . T o set Answer on Hold: 䊳 When you receiv e an incoming call, press (right softkey) > Answer on Hold . (The caller hears a messa g e while waiting f or you to ans wer .
Calling Emergency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 911 (dial and press ), even if your phone is loc ked or your account is restricted. Once the connection is established, press (right softkey) to display 911 options: 䢇 Speaker On to activate speakerphone mode.
In-Call Options During a call, your phone displays menu options by pressing (right softke y). 䢇 Flash to answ er an incoming call while putting the current call in Call W aiting or connect a third party for a Three-W ay Call. 䢇 Mute or Unmute to mute or reactivate y our phone’ s microphone.
End-of-Call Options T o display the follo wing options, press (right softkey) within 10 seconds after disconnecting a call. 䢇 Call Again to dial the phone number . 䢇 Call:Speaker On to dial the phone number in speakerphone mode. 䢇 Send T ext to send a te xt message.
Saving a Phone Number Y our phone can store up to seven phone numbers in each of 200 Contact entries with up to 500 total number s. Each entry’s name can contain 32 characters. Y our phone automatically sorts the Contacts entries alphabetically . (For more inf ormation, see “Using Contacts” on page 59.
Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With Pauses Y ou can dial or save phone numbers with pauses for use with automated systems, such as v oicemail or credit card billing numbers. There are tw o types of pauses available on y our phone: 䢇 Hard Pause to send the next set of numbers when you press .
Dialing from the Contacts List 1. Select > Contacts > Find/Add Entry . 2. Select the entr y y ou want to call and press . 3. Highlight the number you wish to call and pr ess . Note: The icon next to each entry represents the labels (for example, Mobile, Home, W ork, etc.
Using Abbreviated Dialing Abbr eviated Dialing is similar to speed dialing. Y ou can use either of the following ab breviated dialing f eatures. 䢇 Contacts Match to retrie v e any desir ed number saved in y our Contacts by entering only the last three to six digits of the number .
22 Entering T ext Selecting a Character Input Mode Y our phone provides convenient wa ys to enter words, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenever you are prompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding a Contacts entry or when sending te xt messages).
23 T ip: Before entering text, press to change letter capitalization style : Abc > ABC > abc (Alphabet Mode) : T9w > T9W > t9w (T9 T ext Input Mode). Entering Characters Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input lets y ou enter text in y our phone with just one keypress per letter .
Customizing the T9 Settings 1. Press (right softkey) > T ext Options > T9 Settings . – or – From standby mode, select > Settings > Others > T ext Entry > T9 Settings . 2. Select an option and press . 䡲 Word Prediction to automaticall y display the w ord that may f ollow the current te xt input.
Charact ers scroll in the f ollowing or der: In Fr ench mode, char acters scr oll in the follo wing order: See pages 22, 42 f or changing Frenc h entr y mode. After a character is enter ed, the cursor automatically advances to the ne xt space after two seconds or when you enter a c haracter not on the same key .

Setting Up Key Press Echo With this f eature, y ou can hear a voice sa y the numbers when you press the keypad. This feature is av ailable when you ar e in standby mode. 1. Select > Settings > Sounds > Others > Key Press Echo . 2. Select On or Off .
3. Select a setting and press . T ip: Y ou can select Once or Repeat Alert if you select 10-4 Calls, 10-4 Missed, V oicemail or Messaging. Repeat Alert sounds an alert every two minutes for twenty minutes. (For 10-4 calls, an alert sounds continuously .
Display Settings Changing the Phone’ s Menu Style Y our phone allows you to choose how the main men u appears on your displa y screen. 1. Select > (right softke y) > Change V iew . 2. Select Grid View or List View . 䡲 Grid View to view each main men u item as an animated single-screen icon.
Power Save Mode This featur e helps conser v e your battery power by setting the Main LCD backlight to “Dim Only , ” the keypad backlight to "Always Off" and the Main LCD sleep mode to “after 5 sec. ”. 1. Select > Settings > Display > PWRsave Mode .
Changing the Contrast Y ou can adjust your screen's contrast (brightness) to suit your surroundings. T o adjust the display ’ s contrast: 1. Select > Settings > Display > Contrast . 2. Select an option ( Highest , High , Medium , Low , or Lowest ) and press .
Changing the Clock/Calendar Display for Standby Mode Select from among a variety of items to be display ed in standby mode. T o set the clock/calendar display f or standby mode: 1. Select > Settings > Display > Clock/Calendar . 2. Select a display option and press twice.
Location Settings Location Services This cell phone is Assisted GPS Ready f or services such as: 䢇 Finder Services 䢇 Seek & Find TM 䢇 Business T r acking Services 䢇 e9-1-1 This cell phone is not intended to operate as a GPS satellite receiver .
Settings The settings allow you to turn the Assisted GPS chipset in the cell phone to “ Allow” or “Deny . ” Setting location to On lets the networ k detect the cell phone’ s geog raphic location using Assisted GPS, making some featur es easier to use.
37 Messaging Settings Setting Message Notification Display Y ou can set your phone to display an icon and message notification or just display an icon notification when y ou receiv e a te xt message, picture message, v oicemail, or W eb Aler t. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Notification .
T o erase a canned message: 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Canned Msgs . 2. Select the message you w ant to erase and select (r ight softkey). 3. Select Erase > Ye s . T o change the languag e of the canned messages: 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > Canned Msgs .
Setting Y our Signature This featur e allows you to send a te xt message with y our signature. 1. Select > Settings > Messaging > T ext > Signature . 2. Press , and then select On . 3. Select T ext and enter your signature. 4. Press (left softkey) > (left softke y).
TTY Use A TTY (also known as a TDD or T ext T elephone) is a telecommunications device that allows people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or who have speec h or language disabilities, to communicate via a telephone. Y our phone is compatible with select TTY devices.
Phone Setup Options My Favourites Y our phone of f ers you the option of assigning a shortcut to a fav ourite or often-used function. Pressing the navigation key left (by default) will launch y our user-defined shortcut. T o assign your shortcut: 1. Press the navigation key left.
Setting the T ext Entry Options 1. Select > Settings > Others > T ext Entry . 2. Select an option and press . 䡲 Auto-Capital to set the auto-capital on or off. 䡲 My Words to add a word to or edit a wor d in the T9 database (see page 23). 䡲 Inpt Language to select the langua g e (English or Frenc h).
Setting Abbreviated Dialing T o activat e Contacts Match f eature: 1. Select > Settings > Others > Abbrev . Dial . 2. Select Contacts Match > Enable . 䡲 T o deactivate this featur e, select Disable . T o set your pr epend number: 1. Follow step 1 abov e.
Headset Mode This featur e allows you hands-free phone use. Check the T urbo Button (the operation button) on the headset to activate or deactivate. T o connect the headset: 䊳 Simply plug the headset into y our phone’ s headset jack. T o set T urbo Butt on of the headset mode: 1.
Setting the Current T ime 1. Select > Settings > Others > Set T ime/Date . 2. Set the current time and date and press . Changing the Menu Language 1. Select > Settings > Others > Language . 2. Select English or Français . Setting Key Guard This featur e enables you to lock the keys in order to pr event accidental key presses.
3. Security Accessing the Security Menu Y ou must enter your lock code to view the Security menu. 1. Select > Settings > Security . 2. Enter your lock code. T ip: If you never changed the lock code number and you can’ t recall your lock code, try using the last four digits of your phone number .
Unlocking Y our Phone 1. From standby mode, press (left softkey). 2. Enter your lock code. Changing the Lock Code 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu” on page 46), select Others > Change Lock . 2. Enter and re-enter a new loc k code.
Restricting Calls Y ou can restrict phone number s y our phone dials or receives. (This setting does not apply to 911 or Customer Service.) 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu” on page 46), select Others > Limit Use .
Erasing Phone Content 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu” on page 46), select Erase/Reset . 2. Select an option and press . 䡲 EraseContacts to erase all of your Contacts entries. 䡲 Erase Content to erase all items you hav e downloaded to your phone.
Resetting Favourites 1. From the Security Menu display (See “ Accessing the Secur ity Menu” on page 46), select Erase/Reset > Reset Favourt. . 2.
Using the Parental Control Feature This featur e allows you to restrict outgoing and incoming calls, access to services such as Internet and 10-4, as well as use the Edit Contacts function. Most menu options for the Limit Use, Change Loc k, and Lock Services menus in Parental Contr ol are the same as the options for the Security menu.
T o add or replace a special number: 1. Select > T ools > Parental Ctrl . 2. Enter your lock code to displa y the P arental Control menu. 3. Select Special #s .
4. Roaming Understanding Roaming Recognizing Icons on the Display Screen Y our phone’ s display screen alwa ys lets you know when y ou’ re off the home network.

6. Managing Call History Viewing History Y ou’ll f ind the Call Histor y f eature very helpful. It is a list of the phone numbers (or Contacts entr ies) f or calls you placed, accepted, or missed. Call Histor y makes redialing a number fast and easy .

Prepending a Phone Number from Call History If you need to make a call from Call History and you happen to be outside your local area code, y ou can add the appropriate prepending by following these steps: 1. Highlight your desired Call History entr y and press (right softke y).

T o find Contacts entries b y voice dial tag: Note: T o use this feature, you must have stored entries for voice dialing. See “Using V oice-Activated Dialing” on page 76. Finding Speed Dial Numbers 䊳 Select > Contacts > Speed Dial #s . See “Using Speed Dialing” on page 20 for how to use speed dialing.
Contacts Entry Options T o access a Contacts entr y’ s options, from the Contacts list display , select an entr y and press . Then highlight a phone number and press (right softke y). 䢇 Edit to edit the selected entr y . 䢇 Call to dial the selected phone number .
Editing a Contacts Entry’ s Phone Number 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the Contacts entr y you wish to edit the phone number to and press . 2. Highlight the number you wish to edit and pr ess (right softke y) > Edit . 3. Press again to edit the number .
Assigning Speed Dial Numbers With this f eature y ou can dial Contacts Directory entr ies with one key press for locations 2-9. (For details on how to make calls using speed dial numbers, see “Using Speed Dialing” on page 20.) T o assign a speed dial number: 1.
Assigning an Image to a Contacts Entry Y ou can assign an image to a Contacts entr y . The image is display ed when the entr y calls you. T o assign an image for an entry: 1. From the Contacts list displa y , select the entr y for whic h you want to assign the image and press .
Secret Contacts Entries Y ou can hide an entr y’ s phone number(s) by making them secret, which r equires your loc k code to edit the entr y . The entr y name is still displa yed, but the entry’s inf ormation replaced by “<Secret>”.
8. Personal Organizer Using Y our Phone’ s Calendar Use the Calendar to remind you of ev ents or important calls you need to make. Y ou can schedule up to 100 events, 15 Call Alarms and 20 T o Do Items. Displaying Y our Calendar 䊳 Select > T ools > Calendar .
Adding an Event to the Calendar 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the day to which you want to add an event. 2. Press (right softkey) > Add Event > Schedule . 3. Select the following items y ou want to edit and press . 䡲 Description to enter a description for the event.
Adding a Call Alarm to the Calendar 1. From the Calendar displa y , highlight the day to which you want to add a call alarm and press (right softkey). 2. Select Add Event > Call Alarm . 3. Enter the phone number directl y or press (r ight softkey) for the follo wing options: 䡲 From Contacts to select the number from your Contacts.
Adding T o Do Items Y our phone can store and manage 20 T o Do items. 1. From the Calendar displa y , press (right softkey). 2. Select T o Do List > (right softke y) > Add Item . 3. Enter the description and press . 4. Select Priority to edit the T o Do’ s prior ity .
Event Alerts There are sev eral ways y our phone alerts you to scheduled events. 䢇 By playing the alert tone (depending on the ringer type and ringer volume setting). 䢇 By blinking the LED . 䢇 By lighting the LCD backlight (depending on the backlight setting).
Erasing Events T o erase a day’ s sc heduled events: 1. From the calendar displa y , select the day for whic h you would like to erase events and pr ess . 2. Highlight one of the events and press (right softke y) > Erase Event > Y es . Note: Y ou can erase registered Call Alarms if you select a Call Alarm event in step 2 above.
Using Y our Phone’ s T ools Using the Alarm Clock T o set the alarm cloc k: 1. Select > T ools > Alarm Clock . Note: T o set the alarm clock in a no-service area, set the actual time and date after turning off and on your phone. 2. Select a number and press .
Using the Stopwatch T o start the stopw atch: 䊳 Select > T ools > Stopwatch . 䡲 Press (left softkey) to star t the stopwatc h. 䡲 Press (left softkey) to stop the stopwatch.
Using the Calculator 1. Select > T ools > Calculator . 2. Enter numbers using your keypad. Press the left softkey to insert a decimal point. 3. Press the appropriate navigation key for an arithmetic option. ( Up for addition, Down f or subtraction, Left f or multiplication, Right for division.
9. V oice Services Using V oice-Activated Dialing Y ou can use a voice dial tag to automatically dial a phone number in your Contacts. Y our phone can store up to 30 voice dial tags. Note: Please set the V oice Prompt feature (see page 28) to On before using the V oice-Activated Dialing so that you can hear the voice instruction from the phone.
V oice Dial T ag Options 1. Select > T ools > Voice Services > V oice T ag . 2. Select Review or Rev .:Speaker . 3. Select the desired option and press (r ight soft key). 䡲 Play to play the selected v oice dial tag. 䡲 Speaker On / Speaker Off to play the tag in speakerphone mode.
78 Managing V oice/Call Memos Y ou can use your phone’ s voice services to record brief memos to remind you of important events, phone numbers, or grocery list items. T ip: If 10-4 is set to Disable and the 10-4 service is locked, you can use Memo (left softkey) as a key to access V oice/Call Memo menu in standby mode.
Reviewing V oice/Call Memos 1. Select > T ools > Voice Services> V oice Memo > Play or Play:Speaker . – or – Press (l eft softkey) > Play or Play:Speaker . 2. Select a memo from the list and press . 䡲 Press (left softkey) or (right softkey) to change the playing speed.
Setting Up Screen Call This featur e enables you to screen incoming calls by using a recorded announcement, either one that is pr e-recorded or one that you hav e recorded.
Recording a Customized Announcement 1. Select >T ools > Voice Services > Screen Call > Announcement . 2. Highlight Custom and press (right softkey) > Record . 䡲 If your announcement has alread y been recorded, select Ye s or No for ov erwriting.
10. 10-4 10-4 allows you to enjoy quick, tw o-way , “walkie-talkie-style” communication with your friends, famil y , and co-workers. Y ou can make 1-to-1 or 1-to-many calls (up to 5 others on the same call) to any other 10-4 user , anywhere on the Networ k.
Making and Receiving a 10-4 Call Displaying the 10-4 List 䊳 From standby mode, press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List. T ip: The first time you access the list, the 10-4 Help message will appear . Press (left softkey) and (left softkey) to read a brief introduction of 10-4.
Making a 10-4 Call (1-to-1 Call) Y ou can place a 1-to-1 10-4 call by selecting a Contacts entr y from the 10-4 List. 1. Press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List. 2. Press (left softkey), and select the list from which you want to place a call ( Company List , Personal List , 10-4 Outgoing , 10-4 Incoming , or 10-4 Missed ) and press .
Making a 10-4 Call (Group Call) Y ou can make a 10-4 call to all member s in a Group entry , which you hav e in your 10-4 List. Y ou can communicate with up to five members at a time. 1. Press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List. 2. Press (left softkey), and select the list from which you want to make a Group call ( Company Grps.
3. Enter the 10-4 number you want to dial. 4. Follow steps 2-4 of "Making a 10-4 Call by Entering a Number" on the previous page. Missed Call Notification for 10-4 Calls When an incoming 10-4 Call is not answ ered, the Missed Call Notification is display ed on your screen.
Receiving a 10-4 Call 1. Make sure your phone’ s 10-4 mode is enabled (see “Setting 10-4 Mode” on page 82). 2. When you receiv e a 10-4 call from a Contacts entry , “10-4 Call, ” the entr y’ s name, and the 10-4 number appear on the display .
10-4 Options When you use 10-4, sever al user options are availab le by pressing (right softkey). 䢇 Edit to edit a 10-4 number and/or name. (See pa g e 92.) 䢇 Send T ext to send a te xt message. (See pa g e 98 for details.) 䢇 Copy to Prsnl to cop y a 10-4 last call or a 10-4 Contacts entry in the Personal Grps.
Adding and Editing 10-4 Contacts Entry Copying an Entry to your Personal List , Personal Group List, or Contacts List Y ou can copy an entr y to your P er sonal or P ersonal Group List, or Contacts from several diff erent sources. 1. Press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List.
3. Press (left softkey) > (left softkey). Note: If the number is already stored in the Personal or Personal Group lists, the “Save” option does not appear . Finding an Entry in the 10-4 List Y ou can find your desired entry b y entering a fe w letters.
Adding a New Group to Y our Personal Group List Y ou can add new groups to the P ersonal Group List. Each gr oup can include up to fiv e members. Y ou can enter a group member directly , or select the member from the Company List or Personal List. 1. Press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List.
Editing a Contacts Entry in Y our Personal List 1. Press (left softkey) or to access the 10-4 List. 2. Press (left softkey) > Personal List . 3. Highlight the entr y y ou want to edit and press (r ight softkey) > Edit . 4. Select the field you want to edit ( Name or 10-4 Number ) and press .
