Getting Started 5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to get started wi th your phone by installing and charging the batter y , installing th e SIM card and optional memo ry card, a nd setting up your voice mail.
6 Installing the SIM card: 1. Carefully slide t he SIM card into the SI M card socket until the card clicks into place. Ma ke s ure that the card’ s gold contacts face into the phone and that the upper -left angled corner of the card is positioned as sh own.

8 R em o ving the Batter y 䊳 Grip the battery at the top end (1) and lift it up and out (2). Charging the B atter y Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li -ion battery . A wall charger , which is used for charging the batter y , is included with your phone.

Locking a nd Unlock ing the Phone By default, the phone locks when the backlight turns off. 䊳 Swipe the gl ass on the front of the screen to the right to unlock the phone. Note: Y ou can choose to configure lock settings to prevent unauthorized use of your phone.

28 Messaging This application allows you to use the Short Me ssage Service (SMS) to send and re ceive short text messages to and from othe r mobile phones. Y ou can als o use the Multi Medi a Service (MMS) to c reate multimedia messages to send and receive from other mobile phones.

Call Functions and Contacts List 43 Prefix Dialing When acti vated, this fe ature au tomatically prepends a string of numbers (such as an area code ) to any dialed number . This feature is usef ul for in ternational dia ling, or di aling withi n an area code where a ll the c alls you mak e for a peri od of tim e use one prefix.
44 Using the V oice Dialer V oice dialer is a voic e recogni tion soft ware used t o activate a wide variety of functi o ns on your phone. 1. From the Home screen, tou ch ➔ V oice Dialer . 2. When the Voice Dialer displays the “Listening” prompt, say one of the fo llowin g commands: • “Call J ohn D oe” • “Call John Doe at home,.

Call Functions and Contacts List 51 Viewing Missed Calls When you are unable t o answer a ca ll for an y reason, you can find out who is calling you, if th is service is a vailabl e, so that you can call the person back. The number of calls you missed displays on the home screen immediately af ter a call is misse d.

Contacts 59 Finding a Contact Y ou can store phone nu mbers a nd their corresponding names onto either your SIM card or phone’ s built-in memory . They are physically separate but are use d as a single entity , called Contacts.

Assigning Music Files Y o u can choose to assign music files as a ringt one, Individual ringtone, or Alarm tone. Songs used for these types of assignments must be copie d to the phone.

96 Buddies Now When you add contacts using the Buddies now screen the contacts are marked as Favorite s and display on this screen. Any updates made to their priv ate networking applications displays here, and you ca n comment or cal l them with one t ouch.
