Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section allows you to star t using your phone by activating your service, setting up your vo icemail, inserting yo ur batter y , and naviga ting from the To d a y screen. Underst anding this User Manual The chapters of this gu ide follow the order of the menus and sub menus.

Getting Started 10 Activating Y our Phone If you purchased your phone at an A T& T Store, it is probably activated and ready to use. If you upgra ded your phone or received a new phone by ma il, it probably require s activatio n before you can use it.

Understanding Y our Phone 15 Send Key Press at the To d a y screen to display the phone screen, or press it to dial a call a fter you ente r a telephon e number . End K ey Ends a call or exits a program. Press and hold this key for two seconds to lock the keypad.

Setting Up a Pass wor d Hint One way to make sure you don’ t accidentally forget your password is to use the Hint feature. 1. Understanding Y our Phone 19 Using a microSD Stor age Car d Y ou can insert a microSD™ card into the st orage ca rd slot and use the c ard to add add itional memo ry to your phone, or to back up and transfer files and data. This type of card is designed to use with ultra-small mobile phones and other devices.
20 4. With the card now securely installed, replace the plastic cover over the mic roSD slot on the pho ne. Note: Storage cards with a storage capacity of over 16 GB will not work with this phone. 24 Section 4: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answer calls. It also includes the features and function ality associated with using your phone, as well as explaining the voice command feature built into your Samsung SGH-i907.

W hen the mouse is inactive for th is period of time , the mouse deac tivates on screen. – Mouse cursor shape : Allows you to select a cursor icon (shape) from a selectable list. 3. 38 Section 6: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into your Samsung SGH-i907. Built-in QWERTY K eypad Y our SGH-i907 has a built-in sta ndard typin g keypad, commonly called QWERTY , below the di spla y .
Entering T ext 39 Changing th e Input Me thod T o change the text input method from wi thin a text entr y field: 1. Select the keyboard icon ( ). A touch-se nsitive keyboard displays. 2. Select the Up arrow beside the keyboard icon ( ). The following options display in a pop-up: • Options : Displays th e Settin gs Input scre en.
40 T o select larger or sm aller keys, simply select the button nex t to the desired opt ion. The gestures feature allows you to repla c e keys used on the keyboard for space, backspace, shift+key , and enter by drawing a gesture or motion. The l arge key option must be selected for this option t o display .

T o enable thi s feature, select the Suggest words when entering text box. A checkmar k appears in the box, indicating Word Completion is enabled.

Contacts 43 Section 7: Contacts This section describes how to ma nage your daily contacts by storing someone’ s name and number in y our phonebook. Underst anding Y our Contacts This feature i s used to sa ve importa nt informatio n about your friends, coll eagues, or business acquaintances.
44 Add a New Co ntact 1. From the To d a y screen, press the Start key ( ) to activate the Start menu. 2. Select Conta cts ( ) to display the Contacts screen. 3. Press the New soft key , then select Outlook Contact . The Contacts in formation screen displays.
Contacts 45 Del ete a Cont act 1. Find the desired contact. (F or more informatio n, refer to “Find a Contact” on page 44.) 2. Press the Menu soft key and select Delete Contact . 3. Select the Ye s button from the Delete Contact pop-up to confirm the deletion.

Adding Notes to Contacts Notes allo w you t o attach either a recorded audio file o r attach a written note to a sav ed contact entr y . When you vie w the summary scre en on the contact, you c an view or listen to any notes that are associat ed with the conta ct.
Contacts 47 Speed Dial Contacts Speed dial can be used to dial co ntac ts that you ta lk to the most. Speed dial allows you to press up to two numeric keys to dia l to the contact. Memory location s 2-99 are available for speed dialing. Note: Location 1 is pre-configured to dial your voicemail and can not be altered.

62 • Drafts: contains all messages that were not comple ted and saved to send at a later date. • Inbox: all incoming messages arrive and are stored in the Inbox until deleted. If memo ry is full, new messages are re jected. Delete older messages to free up space for incoming messages.

De vice Settings Menus The Settings menus for your S GH-i907 phone allow you to configure o r change how many of your phone’ s features or functions appear or work.

Select th e icon located at the to p of your screen. A menu displays with sliders to adjust both the PDA and phone ringer volumes.
78 4. Select the Notifications tab to assign specific audio files (or vibrate) to play for specific applications or actions. Sounds can be set for ea ch of the follo wing events: • Phone : Incom ing.

Select the Ring type field and select the type of desired ringer/vibration combination from the drop down menu. • The available no tification options for t his type of even t are: Ring , Increasing ring , Ring once , Vib r at e , V ibrate and ring , Vi b r a t e the n ri ng , or None .
80 • Strong alphanumeric : This password must be at least seven characters in length and contain at least three of the following: uppercase/lowercase letters, numerals, a nd punctua tion. When a password is configured, there is a “Pro mpt if devic e unused for” o ption th at allows a length of time range from 0 minutes - 24 hours.

Y ou can view different document formats with the document viewing tool, acce ss word processing and spreadsheets documents, and even instan t message others using the preloaded applications on your Samsung SGH-i907.
