Getting Started 4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes the first steps to op erating your phone. SIM Card Infor mation When you subs cribe for 3G cellular network services, you receive a plug-in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN and availa ble optional services.
5 Inserti ng and R emo ving the SIM card Important!: The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending. Use caution when inserting or removing the card, and keep all SIM cards out of the reach of children. 䊳 Make sure the gold contacts of the card are face down, then slide the SIM card into the socket .
Getting Started 6 Cautio n!: For connection to an electrical supply not located in the U.S., you must use an adaptor of the proper configuration for the po wer outlet. Use of the wrong adaptor could damage your phone and void your warranty . 1. Plug the connector of the travel ada ptor into t he jack on the side of the phone.
7 3. T o remove the card, a quick pr ess releases the card from the slot. Note: The handset supports micro-SD cards of up to 8GB. Low Batter y Indi cator When the batter y is weak and only a few minut.
Getting Started 8 Note: If your phone is in Silent Mode, the Low Batter y Indicator defaults to Vibration (see “Other Available Profiles” on page 116.). If you change the alert from Vibration to Mute, you will only see a flashing messag e indicating a low ba ttery.
9 Changi ng th e V oic e Mail Name an d Number The SIM card gives yo u the default se rv ice number of the Voice Mail center . However , you may ne ed to change the number . Understanding Y our Phone 16 Bac k Light A back light il luminates the displ ay and the keypad when you press any key . It turns off wh en no keys are pressed within a given period of time, and/or di ms the light, depending on the settings in the Backlight Time menu.
17 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phon e offers a set of functi ons that can be customized for your ease and specific needs. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, access ed us ing the two s o ft keys. Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular f unction.

Call Functions 20 Section 3: Call Functions This section describes how to make or answe r a call. It a lso includes the features and functional ity associated wi th making or answering a ca ll. Making a Call 䊳 At the I dle screen, ent er the ar ea code and phone number , and press the key .
21 Only the All Calls , Missed Calls , Calls Mad e , and Calls Received have the abili ty to dial back or redial. 3. Highlight the number to select, and press the key . - or - 1. In Idle mode, press the key to display a list of the most recent numbers used in the order yo u dialed or received th em.

23 6. T o stop the video sh aring, press the Options soft key and select the “Video Share End ” option. Either pa rty in a Video Share call may te rminate the Vide o Share. A pop-up message displays “A re Y ou Sure Y ou Want to Stop V ideo Sharing? ” 7.
Call Functions 24 soft key . When you select a ta b, you are viewin g either the Missed Call folder or the Me ssag ing Inbox, or call ing the V oice Mail number . Note: If you select the Voicemail icon, pressing or the Dial soft key will dial the Voicemail center so that you can listen to your voice mail messages.

Y ou can press the k ey at any time to exit t he Missed Call feature. Call Ti me Call time refers to the amount of time used in calls, both calls sent and calls received.

Call Functions 28 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that y ou can use during a call. Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiec e volume, use the Volum e keys on th e left side of the ph one.
29 4. Press the key to end the remaining call. Using t he Spe akerp hone Key 1. During a ca ll, press the spea kerphone key . 2. Use the volume keys (loca ted on the left side of your phone) to adjust the volume. In Call Option s During a call, the two soft key s become call Options (left soft ke y) and Mute (right soft key).
Call Functions 30 When you want to finish, end each ca ll normally by pressin g the key . Muti ng or Sendin g K eypad T ones These options allo w you to turn the keypad tone s off or on. If the Mute Keypad T one option is selected, it al lows you to press k eys without hearing keypad tones during a call.

37 Section 5: Cellular Video Y our phon e is equipped with a W AP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser which allows yo u to access the Internet and upload media files directly to your phone. These media files display using the bu il t-in Medi a Player .

39 J um p to trac k time This feature pauses th e current media cont ent and display s a “Jump to track time” pop-up which allows you to enter an Hour , Minute, and Second value which corresponds to the media’ s timeline.
Cellular Video 40 Using the Video Categories This grouping of med ia categori es provides access t o an additional l isting of strea ming media. Where th e previous Favorites list of med ia stream can be user edited and updated, this list of categories is defi ne d by Cellular Vide o’ s homepage and can not be changed.

43 Section 6: Entering T ext This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text input mode when entering characters into yo ur phone. This se ction also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entr y system t o reduce the amount of key strokes associated with entering text.
Entering T ext 44 Symbols This mode allows you to enter sy mbols, such as punctuation marks. 䊳 T o select the Symbolic input method, sele ct Menu ➔ Messaging ➔ Create New Message , and press and hold the key until the symbol grid displays on the message input screen.
45 Using the T9 Input Method T9 Predictive T ext input method is based on a bui lt-in dictionary . Enter a Word i n T9 Mode 1. In T9 method, begin entering a word by pressing the through keys. Press each key only once for each letter . The built- in dictionary lists w ords that match the keystrokes yo u have ent ered.
Entering T ext 46 • T o shi ft case in T9 mode, use the key . There are 4 cases: Initial capital, Capital lock, Lower case, and Numeric. • Y ou can move the cursor by using the Left and Right Navigation keys. T o delete letters, pre ss the key . Press and hold the key to clear the disp lay .
47 3. T o select a symbol from that group, pres s the corresponding number key . 4. T o c lear the symbol(s), press the key . When the input field is empty , this key returns the display to the previous mode. 5. T o return to your mes sage, press the OK soft key or the key .
Messaging 48 Section 7: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive different types of messages. It al so inc ludes the features and fu nctional ity associated with messaging.
49 Creating and Sending T ext Messages The Short Message Servic e (SMS) allo ws you to se nd and receive short text messages to and from other mobile phones. T o use this feature, you must subsc ribe to your servic e provider’ s message service. Creat ing a New T ext Me ssa ge 1.
Messaging 50 – Record Audio : allows you to temporarily exit the me ssage, record an audio clip usin g the phone’ s microphone, a nd then add it to your message. – Record V i deo: allows you to tempo rarily exit the message, reco rd a video clip usin g the phone’ s camera, a nd then add it to your message.
51 – Favo r it e s : allows you to add a web ad dress from your Favorites list of Internet sites as an atta chment to the message. • Sending Options: allows you to save a copy or adjust you r T ext Message Center Settings. • Save to D rafts : allows you to save the message to the Drafts folder .
Messaging 52 3. Use the Down Navigation key to access the t ext field and begin creating your message. 4. Select Options ➔ Change to Multimed ia Message and press the key . Note: A multimedia message should only be sent to a phone which can support the receipt and display of this message type.

55 Using Message Options While viewing the content of a message, press the Options soft key to access t he follo wing messa ge options: Options for SMS Messages • Reply : allows you to reply to the message via T ext mess a ge. • Forward : allows you to forward the mess age.
Messaging 56 Using Instant Messenger (IM) The Instant Messenger function allows you to send and receive instant messages using AIM, Windows Live, and Y ahoo communities. Y ou must first create a default communit y account before accessing it on your phone.
57 Using Message T emplates Y our phone has message templa tes (both SMS and MMS) which allows you to re trieve them when creat ing a message. Y ou can change the templa tes as your preference s or send a messa ge immediat ely . 1. At the Idle screen, select Menu ➔ Messaging ➔ T em plates , and press the key .
Messaging 58 T o view the contents in each folder , use the Right key to display the folder’ s contents or use the Left key to close the folder’ s co ntents. 4. T o delet e all of the messages in all f olders, sele ct All . 5. Press the Delete soft key .

61 Section 8: MEdia Net and WAP Y our phon e is equipped with a W AP (Wireless Application Protocol) browser which allows yo u to access the Internet. This section explains how to access th e W AP se rvices of your servi ce provider and navigate the WAP browser .

MEdia Net and W AP 64 • Send URL via : send the URL of the current page via either a mess age or to another party via a Bluetooth dev ice. • Enter URL : allows you to manually enter the URL address of a W AP site. After entering an address, press the OK soft key to go there directly .

MEdia Net and W AP 66 Using your Histor y The Histor y list provides you with a list of the most recentl y visited web sites. These entries can b e used to return to previously unmarked web pages. 1. At the Idle screen, select Menu ➔ MEdia Net ➔ History and press the key .

This page gives you quick access to information such a s local weather , sports scores, horo scope information and quick links to the previousl y mentioned shoppin g sites.
73 Section 10: A T&T Music A T&T Music is a group of music services and a pplications which provide you access to Streami ng Music, Music Videos, Music store, Music communities, Musi c applications, and a unique MusicID appl ication. Accessing A T&T Music 䊳 At the Idle sc reen, select Menu ➔ AT & T M u s i c and pre ss the key .
A T&T Music 74 T ransfer ring Music from the Digital Mu sic Stores In order to download music from the computer to your handset, a microSD™ card and USB da ta ca ble are required. These items are sold separately; go to att.com/mobile-mu sic . 1.
75 4. Use the USB adapter cable (sol d separately) to connect the handset to the target PC. When an activ e connection is established, a USB icon ( ) displays on the screen. 5. Once the USB connection is established, the handset displays " Connected " and the computer screen then displays your device.
A T&T Music 76 Using the Music Player The Music Player is an applicatio n that can play music files. The music player supports files with exten sions AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA, 3GP , MPEG, MP4, and M4A. Launching the Music Player allows you to navigate within your Music folders and select playba ck materi al.

Using the Applications 86 Section 11: Using the Applications The on-board applic ations in clude such functions as came ra, camcorder , calendar , a larms, and other tools. These functions can be supplemented with additional applications which can be purchased via the A T&T Mall.
87 Note: The number that displays in the lower-left of the screen indicates the maximum number of pictures that can be saved to the selected media at the current resolution. 7.
