10 Section 1 Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are prov ided with a plug-i n Subscriber Identity M odule (SIM) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your Personal Identifi cation Number (PIN), any optional services availabl e, and many others.
Section 1: Getting Started 11 Activating Y our Phone Section 1 Insert the SIM car d by doing the follo wing: 1. Gently slid e the SIM card into the SI M card socket so that the card locks into place. Make sure the go ld contacts of the card face into the p hone.
12 Section 1 Note: When you need to remove the SIM card, remove the ba ttery and sli de the SIM card, as shown belo w, and take it out of the socket. Charging the Battery Y our phone is powere d by a r echargeable Li-ion battery . A partially-char ged battery comes with your phone.
Section 1: Getting Started 13 Charging the Battery Section 1 T o charge the battery , do the following: 1. With the batter y in position on the phone, plug the connector of the tr avel adapter into the jack at the bottom of the phone. 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC wall outlet.
14 Section 1 Low Batter y Indicator When the battery is weak and only a few minutes of talk time remain, a warning tone sounds and the “W arning Low Battery” message r e peats at regular intervals on the display . When this happens, your phone turns off t he backlight to co nserve the r emaining battery power .

28 Section 3 Making a Call When the idle screen displays, enter the ar ea cod e and phone number , and press the key . Note: When you activate the Auto redial option in the Extra settings menu, the phone will automat ically redia l up to 10 times when the person does not answer the call or is already on the phone.

30 Section 3 Making a Call from the PhoneBook Y ou can store phone numbers that yo u use r egu larly on the SIM card or in the phone’s memory . These entries are colle cti vely called PhoneBook. Once you have stor ed a number in the PhoneBook, you can dial it by pressing a fe w keys.

Note: T o reject an incoming call, press and hold the V olume keys on the left side of the phone before opening the phone, or press the Reject soft key or key .
32 Section 3 Recent Calls In this menu, you can view misse d calls, call r eceived, and calls made. Viewing Missed Calls When you are unable to answer a call for any r eason, you can find out who is ca lling you, if this ser vice is available, so that you ca n call the person back.

If the Mute keys option is selected, your phone does not transmit the DTMF (Dual T one Multi-Frequency) tones of the keys, whic h allows you to pres s ke ys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.

This is made possibl e by changing sets of characters the keys enter or the method of entry . Each character set or entry method (symbol, number , etc.
