Make sure that t he card’ s gold contacts face into the phone and that the upper-le ft angled corn er of the card is positioned as shown below .
7 Reinstall the battery cover by sliding it back onto the phone until you hear it securely c lick. Make sure the b attery is properly installed befo re switching on the phone. Charging a Batter y Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li -ion batter y .

Low Batter y Indic ator When the battery is weak an d only a few minutes of talk time remain; a warning to ne sounds and the “Low battery” message repeats at regular intervals on the di splay .

Wi-Fi 20 Connecting to Wi-Fi for the First Tim e What This Means to Y ou When you are not in range of a Wi-F i connectio n, your normal cellul ar network takes over and keeps you connected.
21 If you have a T -Mobi le router , select Ye s . This a ction acqui res the security key or passphrase so that yo u are not required to manually type it into your phone. If you do not ha ve a T -Mobile router , select No . Y ou are then required to enter your key or passphrase.
Wi-Fi 22 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks The signal bars are always vi sible when a call is activ e . The bars change correctly when you are on a call to indica te which network you are on. The name of your network displays on the idle screen as seen here.

Wi-Fi 24 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks 7. When prompted, press the Ye s soft key to save the network to your Saved Networks list. 8. Create a profile na me for your network, press the Options soft key , select Save and press t he Select soft key .
25 A v ailable Netw orks Options From t he Available Net works menu, press the Options soft key to use the following options: • Connect : Connects your phone to the currently highlighted network. Th is option will not be available if your phone is currently connect ed to a Wi-Fi network.
Wi-Fi 26 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks Sav ed N etw orks The Saved Networks list display s all of the Wi-Fi networks that are sa ved on your phone. If you set up your phone for automatic connec tions, you automatically connect to a W i-Fi net work on your Saved N etworks List each time you are within range of that network.
27 Sav ed Networks Options In the Saved Netw orks menu, press th e Options soft key to use the follo wing options: • Edit Details : Allows you to edit the highl ighted Wi-Fi network's parameters. Note that this option is not available for y our T -Mobile-de signated Wi-F i network profiles.
Wi-Fi 28 Connecting to Wi-Fi Networks Quick Connect Select the Quick Connect option from the Wi-Fi menu to scan for any av ailable preferred or open Wi-Fi network and connect to the network with the best signal strength.
29 T urn Wi-Fi On/O ff Select the T urn Wi-Fi ON/OFF option from the Wi-Fi menu to activate/deactiv ate the Wi-Fi feature. Y our phone's de fault state is Wi-Fi On (Act ive Mode). Wi-Fi should be left on to ta ke advantage of th e seamless t ransfer betwee n regular cellula r networks.
Wi-Fi 30 Use Get Security Key For T -Mobile routers without encr yption en abled, follo wing this sequence turns on WP A and sends the security key to your T -Mobile phone. If encryption is enabled, the light is constantly lit on the T -Mobile router , an d the curre nt router settings are sent to the phon e.
31 Y ou can also enter a security key manually in the phone. If connecting via a vailable networks, the phone prompts you to enter the k ey for WEP or passphrase for WP A. Y o u can also follow the st eps for manually adding a network seen in a subsequent section of the manual.
Wi-Fi 32 Add From Available Network Option Add From A vailable Network Option T o add a new network to your Saved Network s list from your l ist of avai lable networks: 1. In Idle mode, press the Menu soft key to access Menu mode. 2. Using the Naviga tion keys, scroll to Settings .
33 Note: The Security T y pe refers to th e particul ar security pro tocol being used for a sp ecific wirele ss network. WPA is the current security standard for wireless networks and is recommen ded by T -Mobile. WEP is an older , and less robust secur ity standard, but it prov ides wider compa tibility.

Call Functions 36 Making a Call Cor recting the Number 1. T o clear the last digit displayed, press the key . 2. T o clear any other digit in the number , press the Left or Right Navigatio n key until the c ursor is immediately to the right of the di git to be c leared and then press the key .
37 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, use the Volume ke ys on the left side of the phone, to ad just the speaker volume. 䊳 Press the key to increas e the volume le vel and the key to decr ease the level. In Idle mode, you ca n also adjust the ring volume using th ese keys.
Call Functions 38 Call Records The following Ca ll Record options are a vailable: All calls This menu lets you view th e 90 most recent calls you received, dialed, and missed. The name or number , if already stored in your Phonebook, displays with the number of occurrences for each number .
39 Incoming call s This menu lets you view the 30 most recent calls you received. The name and numbe r , if already stored in your Phonebook, i s then displayed with the number of occurrences for each number . Outgoi ng calls This menu lets you view the 30 mo st recent calls you dialed.
Call Functions 40 Silent Mode Silent Mode Silent Mode is convenient when you wish to stop the phone from making any noise, (in a theater for exampl e). In Idle mode, pres s and hold the key until the “Sil ent Mo de On” message and the Silent Mode icon ( ) display.
41 Selecting Options T o view the various functi ons and options available, you must select the one you want by: 1. Press the appropriate soft key . 2. T o select the function display ed or the option highlighted, press the Select soft key or th e key.
Call Functions 42 Selecting Functions and Options Putting a Call on Hol d Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want . If your network supports this ser vice, you can also make ano ther call while a call is in progre ss. T o place a call on hold: 1.
43 Muting or Sending Key T ones These options allo w you to turn the key tones o ff or on. If the Keypad tone option is Off, your phone does not tran smit the DTMF (Dua l T one Multi-Frequenc y) tones of the keys, which then allows you to press ke ys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.

Entering T ext 54 Using T9 Mode 1. Press the Right soft key ( ) to change the text input mode. Note: Each time you press the Right soft key ( ), a different T ext inpu t mode indicator d isplays in th e lower righ t corner o f your displa y . 59 T e xt Messages Short Messag e Servi ce (SMS) allows you to send and receiv e short text messag es to and from other mobile phones. In addition, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Ser vice (EMS), whic h enables yo u to include simple graphics, melodies, and animated images in your messages.
Messages 60 Picture Messages • Attach : allows you to attach a Name card, Schedule, Anniversary item, Miscellaneous item, or T asks to your message. • Save to Drafts : save the message to your Phone or SIM card. • Select language : allows you to set the langua ge to English, Français, and Español.
61 A Picture Messaging message is a multimedia presentation cont ained in a single file . It is not a text file with attach ments. Y ou must first retriev e a picture message from T-Mob ile’ s network before you can view the message. The displays in your Inbox list to indicate any not yet retrieved Picture messages.

Storing a Number in the Phone’s Memor y The default storage location for saving phone numbers to your phonebook is your phone’ s built-in memory .
