Y our Phone 11 Key Descri ption In the Menu Mode, scroll through th e menu options and phonebook memory . In idle mo de, allow you to access your f avor ite menu options directly (for more information on shortcuts, see page 87). In the menu facility , return to the previous menu level and select the current menu respe ctively .
Y our Phone 12 Makes or answers a c all. When held down in idle mode, recalls the last numbers dialed or received. In the menu facility , selects a menu function or stores information that you have entered (such as a name) in the phone or SIM memory .
Display 13 Display Display Layout The display is comprised of three areas. Area Description First line Displa ys v arious ic ons (see pa ge 14). Middle lines Display messages, instructions and any information that you enter (number to be dialed, for example).
Display 14 Icons Icon Descrip tion Shows the receiv ed signal s trength. The greater the number of bars, the better the signal strength. Appears when a call is in progress.
Display 15 Backlight The display is illuminated by a backlight. When yo u press any key , the backlight illum inates. It turns off if no k ey is pressed within a given p eriod of time, depend ing on the Back Light menu option. T o specify the length of time for which the backlight is active, set the Back Light menu option ( Menu 5.
Getting S tarted 16 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with yo ur subscriptio n details, such as your PIN, any optional services available and so on.
Getting S tarted 17 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card holder so that the holder locks the card in posi tion. Make sure that the cut corner is top right and the gold contacts of the card face into the phone. Note: When you need to remove the SIM c ard, slide it, as shown, and take it out of the holder .
Getting S tarted 18 5. Slide the battery tow ards the top of the phone until it clicks into plac e. Mak e sure t hat th e battery is properly instal led before switching on the power . Charging a Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechar geable Li-ion ba ttery .
Getting S tarted 19 2. Connect the adapter to a standard AC w all outlet. 3. When charging is finished, disconnect the adapter from the power outlet and from the phone by pressing the grey tabs on both sides of the connect or and pulling the connector out.
Getting S tarted 20 Switching the Phone On/Off 1. Hold down the key until the pho ne switches on. 2. If the phone asks for a password, key in the password and press the OK soft key . The phone password is facto ry set to 00000000. For further details , see page 107.
Getting S tarted 21 Locking or Unlocking the keypad Y ou can lock the k eypad to a void pressing k eys by mistak e. In Idle Mode, press and hold the key until th e LOCK icon and “K eypad Locked” appear on the display . Y ou can answer incoming calls using any keys, ev en if you lock the keypad.

Call Functions 23 Ending a Call When you hav e finished your call, briefly press the key . Redialing the Las t Number The phone stores the numbers you dialed, received or missed.
Call Functions 24 Adjusting the Volume During a call, if you want to adjust the earpiece v olume, use the keys o n the left side of th e phone. Press the key to increase and the key to decrease the volume. In idle mode, you can adjust the k e y volume using the and keys.
Call Functions 25 Viewing Missed Calls If you are unable to answer a call for any reason, yo u can find out who w as calling y ou, provide d that this se rvice is av ailable. This option pro vides the ab ility to call the person back, if necessary . The number of missed ca lls is displayed on the idle screen immediately after a call was missed.
Call Functions 26 Editing a Missed Call Num ber Note: If the number corresponding to the missed call is not available, the Edit Number option is not displa yed. 1. Press the Options soft k ey . 2. Press the or key to highlight the Edit option. 3. Press the Selec t soft key .
Call Functions 27 Switching Quickly to the Silent Mode The Silent Mode is convenient when discretion is required and you a wish to stop the phone from making any noise, in a theater for example.
Selecting Functions and Options 28 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functi ons that allow you to customize your phone. These functions are arranged in menus and sub- menus, accessed via the two soft keys marked and . Each menu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

Phonebook 30 Phonebook Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in the memory of your SIM card . In addition, you can store up to 1000 numbers in the phone memory . The SIM card and phone memories, although physically separ ate, are used as if they were a single entity , called the phonebook.
Phonebook 31 5. Enter a name and press the OK soft k ey . The maximum length of a name depends on your SIM car d. For information on how to en ter characters, see page 39. The phone now displays the first free location in the last memory used to save a number and name.

Entering T ext 39 Entering Text When using your phone, you will often need to enter text. For example, when storing a name in the phonebook, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events in y our calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric char acters by using yo ur phone’ s keyp ad .
Entering T ext 40 Using the T9 Mode The T9 predictive text input mode allows you to key in an y character using single k eystrokes. This text input mode is based on a built -in dictionary . 1. When you are in the T9 predictive text input mode, start entering a word by pressing ke ys 2 to 9 .
Entering T ext 41 Using the Upper/Lower-Case Character Mode Use the 1 to 0 keys to e nter you r text. 1. Press the k ey labeled w ith the required le tter: ● Once for the first letter ● T wice for the second letter , and so on 2. Select the oth er letters in the same way .
Entering T ext 42 Using the Symbol Mode The symbol mode enables you to insert symbols in a text message. Use the na vigation k eys to scroll to the desired sym bol and then press OK soft key to insert the highlighte d symbol into y our message.
In-Call Options 43 In-Call Options Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can mak e another call whi le you ha ve a call in prog ress if this service is supported by the netw or k.
In-Call Options 44 Switching the Microphone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily swit ch your phone’ s microphone off , so that the other party cannot hear you. Example : Y ou wish to say somet hing to another person in the room but do not w ant the other party to hear you.

T ext Messages 56 Text Messages The SMS (Short Message Service) function is a network service and may not be supported by yo ur network. Messages can be sent by text, fax, Email and paging messaging systems, provide d that t hese s ervices are s upport ed by your networ k.

Picture Message 64 Picture Message Multimed ia Messa ge Service (MMS ) is a messaging service very similar to Short Message Service (SMS). It provides autom atic and imm ediate deliv ery of persona l multime dia message s from phone to phone or from phone to e-mail.
Picture Message 65 While viewing the informati on, press the Optio ns soft key to use the following options: Retrieve : shows you the message contents. Delete : deletes the mes sage. More Informa tion : shows you detailed information about the message.
Picture Message 66 Cut Address : allows you to extr act the destination number from the message, so that you can call the number or sav e it in your Ph one boo k. Forward : allows you to forward the message to another person . Save P ictur e : allows you to save an image from the message into your phone.

Picture Message 69 Add Page : allows you to add more pages. Y ou can move to each page using the Left or Right key when Page highlights on the message screen. Delete : deletes the item from your messag e. Duration : allows you to set how long one page displays.

Call Reco rds 73 Call Records Via this menu, you can view the phone calls: ● Misse d ● Re c ei v e d ● Dialed Note: Y ou can ac cess all numbe rs in the th ree types of call records by pressing the key in idle mode. Missed Calls This option lets you view the last 20 unansw ered calls.
Call Records 74 Outgoing Calls This option lets you view the last 20 numbers dialed . The number and name, if av ailable, are displayed, together with the date and time at which the call w as made.
Sound Settings 75 Sound Settings Y ou can use the Sound Settings feature to customise various settings, such as the: ● Ring melody , volume and type ● Sounds made when you press a key , make an error or receive a message Note: When the phone is in the Silent mode (see page 27), you cannot change the sound settings.
Sound Settings 76 Vibrat ion : the phone vibrates but does not ring. Vibra+M elody : the phone first vibrates three times and then starts ringing. Keypad Tone This option allows you to se lect the tone t hat the k eypad generates w hen you pres s a key .
Sound Settings 77 SMS CB Tone This option allows you to select how the phone informs yo u that a new cell broadcast (CB) message has been received . The following option s are available. OFF : the phone does not use the CB tone. Light Only : the service light at the top of the phone fl ashes.
Sound Settings 78 The following option s are available. Error Tone : sets whether the phone informs you that you have made a mistake or not . Minute Minder : sets wh ether the ph one must beep ev ery minute during an outgoing call to ke ep you informed of the length of your call.
Phone Settings 79 Phone Settings Many different features of your phone can be customised to suit your p references. All of the s e features are accessed via the Phone Sett ings menu. Display Settings Y ou can change the background image and the color of the components in the display a ccording to yo ur preference.
Phone Settings 80 Auto Key Lock When the Auto Key Lock feature is enabled, t he phone keypad is locked and you must press the Unlock soft key then pres s the ke y . The phone displays Keypad activ e. If you wi sh to keep your phon e unlocked , you must go int o the settings and change the option to OFF .
Phone Settings 81 Back Light Y ou can select whether or not the phone uses the backlight. A marginal increase in standby /talk time can be achiev ed by turning the backlight o ff . The following option s are available. OFF : the backlight is not used.
Phone Settings 82 Service Light This option allows you to select whethe r or not the service light on the top of the phone is used or in which color it flashes. he following opti ons are a vailable. Off : the service light does not display . Servi ce Light 1 : the service light displays red.
Phone Settings 83 This function is a memory aid, which you can use to check your own phone numbers if you need to do so. Any changes made here do not in any w ay affect the actual subscriber numbers o n your SIM card. Language Y ou can select a display language.
Phone Settings 84 Change PIN This feature allows you to change your current PIN to a new one, provid ed that the P IN Chec k feature is enabled. Y ou must enter the current PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you have entered a new PIN, you are asked to confirm it by entering it again.
Phone Settings 85 FDN Mode The FDN (Fixed Dial Number) mo de, if supported by y our SIM card, allows y ou to restrict y our outgoing calls to a limite d set of phone numbers. The following option s are available. Disable : you can phone any number . Enable : you can only call phone numbers sto red in the phonebook.
Phone Settings 86 Extra Settings Y ou can turn the automatic redialing or answering features on or off. The following option s are available. Auto Redial : when this option is checked, the phone mak es up to ten attempts to redial a phone number af ter an unsuccessful call.
Phone Settings 87 ShortCut The navigation keys can be used as shortcut keys. When held down in idle mod e, they allow you t o access sp ecific me nu option s direc tly . Organizer 95 Voice Memo V oice Memo allows you to record v oice messages for y our convenience. The following opti ons are available. Copy a task to the calendar Highlight the task. Press the Options soft key . Select the Copy to calendar option. Change the tex t and deadl ine for the task and set the alarm as required.
Organizer 96 Currency Exchange Using this menu option, you can mak e currency conversions. 1. Enter the current exchange rate of y our source currency and press the OK soft k ey . Y ou can insert a decimal point by pressing the key . 2. Enter the amount for which you wish to conduct the currency conversion and press the OK soft key .
Network Services 97 Network Services These menu functions are network services. Please contact your service prov ider to ch eck their a vaila bility and subscribe to them, if yo u so wish. Call Forwarding This network service enables incoming calls to be rerouted to the number that you specify .
Network Services 98 T o set your call forwarding options, proceed as follows. 1. Select the type of call forwar ding required by press ing the or key until the appro priat e option is highlighted, and then press Select .
Network Services 99 Call Waiting This network service enables you t o b e i n f or m e d w h e n s o m e o n e is trying to reach you during another call. Y ou can specify individual call waiting opti ons for each of the following call types: ● V oice calls only ● Data calls only T o set you r call w aiting op tions, proceed as follo ws.
Network Services 100 Network Selection The Network Se lection feature e nables you to indicate wheth er the network used when roaming (outside your home area) is selected automatically or manually . Note: Y ou can select a network ot her than your home network only if it has a valid roaming agreement with your home network.

Funbox 102 http:// Selecting this optio n provides a starting point for y ou to enter the web address you wish to reach. Clear Cache Y ou can clear the information stored in the cache, the phone’s temporary memory which s tores the most recently acce ssed W eb pages.
Funbox 103 Sounds In this menu, you can view the list of sounds downloaded from the server . Y ou can set the downloaded sounds as the current ring tone, but cannot send the sounds to other phones. When the m emory is full, a w arning message is displaye d and the phone rejects additional so unds until you erase obsolete ones.
Solving Problems 104 Solving Proble ms Before contacting the after -sales service, perform the following simple checks. They may sa ve you th e time and expense o f an unnecessary service call. When you switch your p hone on, the following messages may appear Insert SIM Card ● Check tha t the SIM ca rd is correc tly installed.
Solving Problems 105 “No service, ” “Network failu re” or “Not do ne” is displayed ● The network connection was lost. Y ou may be in a weak signal area (in a tunnel or surrounded by buildings).
