4 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section describes how to start using your phone by activating your ser vice an d setting up your voicemail. Activating Y our Phone When you subscribe to a cellular network, a plug-in SIM card is provided with your subscription details, such as your PIN and other optional ser vices.
Getting Started 5 Import ant!: The plug-in SIM card information and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratching or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card. Keep all SIM cards out of reach of small children. Re mo ving the SIM Card 䊳 T o remove the SIM card, slide it a way from the socket.
6 Note: Make sure the battery is properly installed before s witching on the phone. Replaci ng the Batter y Co ver 1. Place the batter y cover onto the back of the phone and press down on the bott om of the c over (1). 2. Press down on the top of the co ver (2) until you hear a light cli ck.
Getting Started 7 3. Plug the adaptor int o a standard AC wall outlet . When charging is finished, unplug the adaptor from the power outlet. 4. Remove the adap tor from the charger port. Note: Y ou must unplug the adaptor before removing the battery from the phone during charging to avoid damage.
8 Po wering On or Off the Phone 1. Press and hold the key o r the key until the phone power-on sc reen displays. 2. If the phone asks you to enter a pass word, enter a password and press the OK soft key ( ) or the key . For more information, refer to “Change Phone Password” on page 55.
Getting Started 9 Refilling Y our Account Y ou can refill your a ccount using your phone. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ Contact L ist. 2. Highlight A T&T Refill Y our Account and press Options ➔ Call . 3. When connected, follo w the in structions to refill your account.

12 12. Power on/off/Me nu Exit key : Ends a call. Press and hold this key for a few seconds to powe r your phone On or Off. While in the main menu, it re turns the phone to Idle mod e and canc els your input . Wh en you receive an incoming call, press it to rej ect the call.
Understanding Y our Phone 13 Icons This list identifies the symbol s that appear on your phone’s display and Indicator area: Shows the received signal strength. The greater the number of bars, the stronger the signal. Appears when a new text me ssage has been receive d.
14 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functi ons that ca n be customized for your ease and specific needs. These functions are arranged in menus and submenus, accessed u s in g the two soft key s. Each menu and submenu allows you to vi ew and alter the set tings of a particular function.

16 Send K ey The Send key is used to answer calls, dial calls, and to recall the last numbers dial ed, received, or missed. • Press and hold the Send key to turn on your phone. • Press the Send key once to answer calls. • Enter a number and briefly press the Send ke y to make a call.
Menu Navigation 17 Section 3: Menu Na vigation This section explains the menu navigation for your phone. Accessing Menus Menus and submenus can be acce ssed by sc rolling using the Navigation keys or by u sing the shortcut ke ys. Access ing a M enu Function by Scrol ling 1.
18 Navigation Keys The Navigation Keys (see "Navigation Keys" on pa ge 14) come preset. T o change the Navigation Keys, follow th ese steps: 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Ph one ➔ Shortcuts . 2. Y ou can change the Up , Down , Left , and Right menu options by highlighting th e op tion and pressing the Options soft key .

Call Functions 21 Adjusting the Call V olume During a call, if you wa nt to adjust the earpiece volume, use the Up or Down volume key . Answ ering a Call When a call is received, t he phon e rings and displays the caller’ s phone number or name, if stored in the Address Book .
22 Viewing Missed Calls The number of call s you have missed displays on the Idle screen when a call is miss ed. T o view the number de tails, use the following steps: 1. Press the Vie w soft key . The mo st recent missed call displays. Note: If there is a voicemail sent by the same number , associated icons display and can be selected.

24 Putting a Call on Hold Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want. Y ou can also make a nother call while you have a call in p rogress, if your network supports this service. T o put a call on hold: 1. While on a call, press the left soft key Options .
Call Functions 25 Switchin g off the Mi crop hone (Mut e) Y ou can temporarily switc h your phone’ s microphone off so that the other person cannot hear you. Exampl e: Y o u want to say something to a per son in the room, but do not want the person on the ph one to hear you.

Entering T ext 27 Section 5: Entering T ext This section outlines how to sele ct the desired te xt input mode when entering char acters into your phone. This section also describes how to use the T9 pred ictive text entry system to reduce the amoun t of key strokes associated wit h entering text.

Entering T ext 29 Using T9 Predictive T ext Mode T9 Predictive text input mode ma kes it easier to enter words by offering word suggestions based on a built-in dictionary. Y ou can also add words to the dictiona ry to make fut ure text entry even easier .
30 Using Alphabet Mode The Alphabet, or ABC, mode d oes not make wo rd suggestions. 1. Press Option s ➔ Te x t M o d e ➔ Abc . Abc appears as the text input mode indicator in the upper right corner of the screen. 2. Press each key only once for each letter .
Entering T ext 31 Entering T e xt in an Edit Field When you are editing a field, such as a contact name, the Abc mode is used by default. • T o enter numbers or punctuation marks, press and then press the key that corresponds to the number or punctuation mark.

Speed Dial List Once you have stored phone num bers from your Address book list, you can set a maxi mum of 8-spe ed dial entries and then dial them easily whenever y ou want, simply by pressin g and holding the associate d numeric key .
44 Reject List The Reject List option shows num bers tha t you have set to be rejected during an incoming call. Reje cted callers are sent directly to Voicemail. Adding New Entries to the R eject List T o add one or more new entries to the Reject List, use the Add New option.

46 SIM Management Y ou can copy your phone contacts to your SIM, copy your SIM contacts to your phone, and de lete contacts from your SIM. Note: When adding or copying a Contact to the SIM card, only the name, phone number , and slot location are saved on the SIM card.
Understanding Y our Address Book 47 Deleting SIM Card Entries Y ou can delete selected SIM Card entries or you can delete All the entries stored on the SIM Card. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ SIM Managem ent ➔ Delete Contacts from SIM .

Changing Y our Settings 4 9 Sound Settings This list describe s the sound settings for the following categories (tabs): • Call : – Call Alert T ype : allows you to select the way in which the selected ringtone is played whe n a call comes in on the phone.

Note: The Silent profile can also be activated by pressing and holding the key or by reducing the volume to 0. An on-screen message notifies you that the Silent prof ile is on .

52 Greet ing Me ssa ge This menu allows you to set a gr eeting to be di splayed briefly when the phone is switched on. For details about entering characters, see “Using Alphabet Mode” on page 30. Time & Date This menu allows you to change the current time and da te displayed.

54 2. Enter your 4- to 8-digit ph one password and press the OK soft key or the key. Lock SIM Card When the SIM Lock feature is enabled, your phone only works with the current SIM. Y ou must enter the SIM lock code to unlock the SIM so you can use a different SIM card.
Changing Y our Settings 5 5 Set FDN Mode FDN (Fix ed Dialing Number) mode, if supported by your SIM card , restricts your outgoi ng calls to a li mited set of phone numbers that are stored in t he SIM FDN list. When this feature is enabled , you can make call s only to phone numbers stored in the FDN list on the SIM card.
56 Note: User data, such as contacts, messages, pictures, and music, is not deleted. Restore Phone The Restore Phon e option allows you to reset your phone to its default settings and de lete all user data. 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Restore Phone .

72 Music Player The Music Player is an applica tio n that can play music files. The music player supports files with extensions AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, MP3, WMA, 3GP , MPEG, MP4, and M4A. Launching the Music Player allows y ou to navigate within your Music folders and select playback material.
T ools 73 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ My Stuff ➔ T ools ➔ Music Player . – or – Press the Left or Right Navigation key , highlight Music Player in the Shortcu ts T oolbar , and press the key . If you have no pl aylists, your phone prompts you with “T o get started please organize playlist”.
