Your phone 18 Icons Icon Description Shows the received signal strength. The more the number of bars, the stronger the signal. Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when you are out of a service area. When it displays, you cannot make or receive calls.
Your phone 19 Appears when you are connected to the GPRS network. Appears when your S IM card supports the Call diverting status indica tion and the Call dive rting feature is ac tivated. W hen your SIM card supports ALS (Alternate Line Service), this icon may appears wi th the number 1, 2, or both.
Your phone 20 Backlight The display and the k eypad are illuminated by a backli ght. When you pre ss any key , the backl ight illuminates. It turns off if you d on’t press any key withi n a given per iod of time , depend ing on the Backlight menu optio n.
Your phone 21 Built-in antenna Y our phone has a built-in antenna. As with other mobile radio tr ansmitting equipment, do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the phone i s switched on. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the phone to oper ate at a higher power level than ne eded.
22 Getting started Inserting/Removing the SIM card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, an y optional services av ailable and so on. • K eep all miniature SIM cards out of the reach of small ch ildren.
Getting started 23 Removing the SIM card T o remove the SIM card , sl ide the card out of the holder , as shown. Installing/Removing/Charging the battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . Use only approv ed batteries and chargers.
Getting started 24 2. Press the battery against the back of the phone until it clicks int o place. Removing the battery 1. Switch off the phone by pressing and ho lding the key . 2. T o remove the battery , pull the battery catch toward t he top of the phone and hold it in th at position.
Getting started 25 Charging the batter y by using the travel adapter Note : The phone can be used whi le the battery i s being charged, but this causes the battery to charge mo re slowly . 1. Plug the connector o f the tra vel adapte r into the jack at the bottom of the phone.
Getting started 26 3. When charging is finished, disconnect the adapter from the pow er outlet and from the phone by pressing the grey tab s on both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out.
Getting started 27 Switching the phone on or off T o switch the phone o n: 1. Hold down the key until the phone switches on. 2. If the phone asks for a PIN, enter the PIN and press the Ok soft key . Getting started 28 Selecting functions and options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customise your phone. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed via the two soft k eys marked and Each me nu and sub-menu allows you to view and alter the settings of a particular function.

31 Call functions Making a call Using the number ke ypad When the idle screen is displayed, en ter the area code and phone number , and press the key . Note: If you have set the Auto redial option to On , the number is redialled au tomatically up to ten times if the p erson you called does no t answer or the line is busy .
Call functions 32 Making an internation al call 1. Press and hold the 0 key for the international prefix. The + character appears. 2. Enter the country code, area code and pho ne number and press the k ey .

Call functions 35 Adjusting t he volume During a call, if you wish to adjust the earpiece volume, use the v olume k eys on the l eft side of the phone. When you hear a sound, such as ringtone, you can also adjust the earpie ce volume . But it is not fixe d.
Call functions 36 Switching the microphone off (Mut e) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’ s microphone off so that the other person cannot hear you. Example : Y ou may wish to say something to another person in the room but do not want the calling person to hear you.
Call functions 37 The Phonebo ok entries are listed. 4. Enter the first a few letters of the name that you want to find. The Phonebo ok entries are l isted starting with the first entry matching your i nput. Note : Y ou can also scroll through the Phonebook from the beginning, by pre ssing the Up or Down key .

Call functions 42 Setting up the multi-party call 1. Call the first particip ant in the normal way . 2. Call the sec ond participant in the normal w ay . The first call is autom atically put on hold. 3. T o join the first participant to the multi-party call, press the Options soft key and select the Join option.
Call functions 43 T o answer an incoming call when you have the multi- party call in prog ress and another call on hold: 1. Press the Accept soft key . 2. Select the End held option to end the call on hold. Or , selec t the End current option to end the cal l in progress.

78 Phonebook menu Phonebook offers the following features: • Phonebook : allows you to find, create or set up the speed-dialling feature and manage Phonebook entries. • Management : allows y ou to create or remov e your own number , set up caller groups and check the memory status.
Phonebook menu 79 Changing the phone memory entries Scroll to the c ategory that y ou want to edit by pressing the Left or Right key . Foll ow in g ca te gor ie s are available and yo u can edit information of each category by pressing the Opti ons soft key .
Phonebook menu 80 Changing the SIM me mory entries T o change the SIM memory entry ’s information, press the Options soft key . The following options are availab le: Edit number This option allows you to change the number . Y ou can also add a new number if none has been stored for the selected category .
Phonebook menu 81 Add entry Y ou can store phone numbers and the corresponding names in the memory of your SIM card. In addition, you can store up to 1000 names in the p hone memory and each name c an be associated with up to five numbers. 1. Enter the number you want to save.

Phonebook menu 85 Send all via infrared Via the infrared connection, you can send your Phonebook entries to another IrDA- com pliant devices and vice versa. Note : This feature may not be available depending on the devices. Sending your phonebook 1. Align the IrDA ports o n both sides each other .

Scroll to a desired memory selection and place a check mark ahead of it by pressing the Sele ct soft key . Selecti ng All places check marks on all of the memories.

Phonebook menu 90 Memory status Y ou can check how many names are stored in SIM card and phone’s m emory . When you have fi nished, pr ess the soft key or the key to exit. Service directory Note : This feature may not be available depending on your SI M card.

92 Call records Via this menu, you can view the: • calls you missed, received or dialled. • cost of your calls. • length of your calls. Note : Y ou can access the numbers in the three types of call records by pressing the key in Id le Mode.
Call records 93 By pressing the Options soft key , you can also: • delete the current call record from t he list. • delete all of the calls. • paste the number into Phonebook. Dialled calls This op tion le ts you vi ew the la st 20 di alled numbers.
Call records 94 Call time This option lets y ou view the timers for call s made and received. Notes: • If your SIM card supports the AL S (Alternate Li ne Service) feature, yo u must first select the appropriate line.
Call records 95 The following options are availab le: Last call cost : cost of the last call made. Total cost : total cost of all calls m ade since the cost counter was last reset. If the total cost exceeds the maximum cost set via t he Set max cost option, you can no longer make any calls until you reset the counter .
96 Network services These menu functions are network services. Please contact your service provid er to check their av ailabilit y and subscribe to them, if you wish. Call diverting Note : The call divert options ma y be different depending on you r SIM card and those not supported by y our network oper ator may not be shown.

Press the Remove soft key . The phone sends your settings t o the network and displays the network’ s acknowledgement.
Network services 99 Cancel all : all call barring options are dea ctiva ted; calls can be made and received normally . Change barring password : allows you to chang e barring password.
Network services 100 Deactivating s pecific ca ll barring o ptions 1. Select the call barring option to be deactivate d. 2. Select the type of calls to wh ich this option applies. 3. Press the Deactivate soft key . 4. Enter your call barring password supplied by your servic e provider .
Network services 101 Call waiting This network servic e informs you w hen someone is trying to reach you during another call. Y ou can specify individ ual call waitin g options for each of the fo llow.
Network services 102 Network select ion The Network selection feature enables you to automatically or manually select the network used when roaming outside your home area. Note : Y ou can select a network other than your home network only if it has a val id roaming agreement with your home network.
Network services 103 Caller ID Y ou can prevent your phone number from being display ed on the phone of the p erson being called. Note : Some networks do not allow the user to change this setting. The following options are availab le: Default : the default setting pro vided by the network is used.
104 Sound settings Y ou can use the Sound setti ngs feature to customise v arious settings, such as the: • ringtone, v olume and type for incomin g calls or messages. • sounds made when your call is connected or when you press a key . • quiet mode which your phone switches to when you hold down the key in the Idle Mode.
Sound setting s 105 Ring volume : allows you to adjust the ring volume. Use the Up and Down key s or the volume keys on the left side of the phone. T he more bars you see, the louder the volume. Alert type : let s you spec ify ho w you are infor med of any incoming calls.
Sound setti ngs 106 Vibration : the phone vibrat es but does not ring. Vibration then tone : the phone first vibrates and then starts ringing . Repetition : allows you to specify how often the phone informs you of a new message. Y ou can choose either Once or Periodic .
