Your Phone 11 Key (s) Desc rip tio n In Menu mode, scrolls through the menu options and Phone Book. In Idle mode, allo ws you to access yo ur favourite menu options directly . For further details about shortcuts, see page 121. In Menu mode, the Left key ret urns to the previous menu level and the Right key selects the current menu.
Your Phone 12 Ends a call. Also switches the phone on and off when held down. In Menu mode, cancels your input and returns to Idle mode. In Idle mo de, acce sses your voic e mail when held down. Enters numbers, letters and some special ch arac ters. Enters special char acters.
Your Phone 13 Display Display Layout The display has three areas: Area Descriptio n First line Displays various ico ns. See page 14. Middle lines Displays messages, instruct ions and any information that you enter , such as the number you are dialling.
Your Phone 14 Icons Icon Description Shows the received signal strength. The greater the number of bars, the stronger the signal. Appears when a call is in progress. Appears when you are out of your service area. When it displays, you cannot mak e or receive a call.
Your Phone 15 Backlight The backlig ht illumi nates the display and the keypad. Wh en you pres s any key or ope n the fold er , the backlight turns on. It tu r n s o f f w h e n n o k e y s a r e pressed within a giv en period of time, depending on your setting i n the Back Light menu ( Menu 6.
Your Phone 16 External Display Y our phone has an external display on the folder . It indicates when you hav e an incoming call or a message. It also alerts you at the specified time when you hav e set an alarm by turning on its backlight and showing the corresponding icon on it.
Your Phone 17 Camera The camera module on the folder of your phone allows you to take a photo and record a video while on the move. For further details about the Came ra featu re, see page 97.
18 Getting Started Installing the SIM Card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in S IM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, an y optional services av ailable and so on.
Getting Started 19 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM ca rd socket, as shown, so that it locks the card into position. Make sure the g old contacts of the card face into the phone. Note : When you need to remov e the SIM card, slide it upw ards, as shown, and take it out of the so cket.
Getting Started 20 5. Press the battery down until it clicks into place. Make sure that the batter y is properly instal led before switching the power o n. Charging the Battery Y our phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery . A trav el adapter com es with yo ur phone for charging the battery .
Getting Started 21 2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC wall outlet. 3. When charging is finished, unplug the adapter from the power outl et and disconnect it from t he phone by pressing the but tons on both sides of the connector and pulling the connector out.
Getting Started 22 Switching the Phone On or Off 1. Open the folder . 2. Press and hold the key unt il the phone switches on. 3. If the phone asks you to enter a passw ord, enter the password and press the OK soft k ey . It is preset to “000000 00” at the facto ry .
23 Call Functions Making a Call When the idle scre en displays, enter the area code and phone number , then press the key . Note : When you activ at e the Auto Redial option in the Extra Settings menu ( Menu 6.7 ), the phone automatically redials up to ten times if the perso n does not an swer th e call or is already on the phone.
Call Functions 24 Ending a Call When you want to end your call , brief ly press t he key or close the folder . Redialling t he Last Number The phone stores the numbers you’ve dialled, received or missed if the caller is ide ntified. See “Call R ecords” on page 92 for further details.
Call Functions 25 Making a Call from Phone Book Y ou can store the phone numbers that you use regularly in the SIM card or the phone’ s memory , which are collectively ca lled Ph one Book. Simply select a name to recall th e associated number . For further details about the Phone Book features, see page 32.
Call Functions 26 Answering a Ca ll When somebo dy calls you, the phone rings and displays the incomi ng call im age. When the caller can be identified, the caller ’s phone number or name, if stored i n your Phone Book, displays . 1. If necessary , open the folder .
Call Functions 27 Viewing Missed Calls When you are unable to answ er a call for any reason, you can find out who called you so that y ou can cal l the per son back. The number of calls you missed displa ys on the idle screen immediately aft e r a call is missed.

30 Selecting Functions and Options Y our phone offers a set of functions that allow you to customise it. These functions are arranged in menus and sub-menus, accessed using the two soft keys marked and . Each menu and sub-me nu allows you to view and al ter the settings of a particular function.
Selecting Fun ctions and Option s 31 T o view the various functions and options av ailable and to select the one you want: 1. Press the appropriate soft key . In some functions, you may be asked for a password or PIN. Enter the co de and press the OK soft key .
32 Phone Book Y ou can store phone numbers and their corresponding names in both your SIM card and your phone’s memories . They are physically separate but are used as a single entity , called Phone Book.
Phone Book 33 4. Select a memory loca tion, eit her SIM or Phone , by pres sing the Up or Down key and pres s the Select soft key . Note : When y ou change phones , any numb ers stored in your SIM card memory are automatically available with the new phone, whereas any numbers s tored in the phone’s memory must be reentered.

Phone Book 35 Using Phone Book Entry Options While accessing any Phone Book entry , press the Options soft key to access the opti ons for the entry . The following options are availab le: Paste : allows you to paste the number into the normal dialling mode.

Caller Group : allows you to organise your Phone Book entries in caller group s so that the phone alerts you in a specific way w hen a person from one of your groups calls y ou.

44 Entering Text When using your phone, you w ill often need to enter text, such as when storing a name in Phone Book, creating your personal greeting or scheduling events on your calendar . Y ou can enter alphanumeric characters by using your phone’ s keypad.
Entering Text 45 Changing the Text Input Mode When you are in a field that allows characters to be entered, you will notice the tex t input mode indicator on the display . Example : Writing a text message Note : Additional text input modes may be av ailable, depending on your country .
Entering Text 46 Using T9 Mode T9 is a predictive text inp ut mode that allows yo u to key in an y character us ing single keystrokes. This text input mode is based on a built -in dictiona ry . T o enter a word in T9 m ode: 1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by pressing the 2 to 9 keys.
Entering Text 47 T o add a new word into the T9 dictionary: 1. After pressing the k eys corresponding to the word you want to add, press the 0 , Up or Dow n key to display the alternative words. 2. 50 Options During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. Putting a Call on Hold Note : This serv ice is not av ailable on your O 2 Play & Go mobile. Y ou can place the current call on hold whenever you want.
Options During a Call 51 When you have an activ e call and a call on hold, you may switch between the two calls, changing the one on hold to active and placing the other on hold.
Options During a Call 52 Switching the Mic rophone Off (Mute) Y ou can temporarily switch your phone’ s microph one off s o that the ot her pers on on the phone cannot hear you. Example : Y ou wish to say som ething to another person in the room but do not want the person on the phone to hear you.
Options During a Call 53 Muting or Sending Key Tones These options allow you to turn the k ey tones off or on. If the Mute Keys option is selected, y our phone does not transmit the DTMF (Dual T one Multi- Frequency) tones of the keys, which allows you to press keys without hearing annoying key tones during a call.
Options During a Call 54 Searching for a Number in Phone Book Y ou can search for a number in Phone Book during a call. 1. Press the Options soft key . 2. Press the Down key to highlight the Phonebook option. 3. Press the OK soft k ey . The Phone Book entries are listed.

66 Text Messages Short Message Service (SMS) a llows you to send and receive short text me ssages to and from other GSM mobile phones. In addition, your phone supports the Enhanced Messaging Service (EMS), which enables you to include photos, melodies, and animated images in your messages.

Text Messages 77 Edit : use to change the ID and title of an e xisting channel. Language : allows you to select your preferred language to display the cell broadcast messages.
78 Multimedia Messages Multimedia Message Service (MMS) is a messaging service very similar to the Short Message Service (SMS). It provides automa tic and immediate delivery of personal multimed ia messages from phone to phone or from p hone to e-mail.

Multimedia M essages 88 Delete All (Menu 2.6) This menu allows y ou to delete all o f the multim edia messages in each message box. Y ou can also delete all of your messages at one time. When a confirming message display s, press the Yes soft key to co nfirm.
Multimed ia Messages 89 Setup (Menu 2.8) Y ou can change the default settings for sending or receiving m ultimed ia messag es. The following options are availab le: Delivery Report : when this option is enabled, the network informs you whether or not your message has been delivered.
Multimedia M essages 90 Report Allowed : when this option is enabled, the sender of an incoming message receiv es a delivery report from the netw ork. Page Duration : you can set the length of time one page of outgoing message displays on the message presentation screen.
Multimed ia Messages 91 User Name : enter the user ID re quired to connect to the MMS se rver . Password : enter the password requ ired to connect to the MMS se rver . APN : enter the acce ss point name used for the address of the MMS serv er . For further details, contact y our service provider .
92 Call Records In this menu, you can view the: • calls you missed, received or dialled. • length of your calls. • cost of your calls. Notes : • Y ou can acces s the call records of a ll three types of calls by press ing the key in I dle mod e.
Call Records 93 Received Calls (Menu 3.2) This men u lets yo u view t he last 20 calls yo u received. The number or name, if av ailable, displays together with the time and date wh en the call was received. By pressing the Options soft key , you can: • edit the number , if av ailable, and dial it or sav e it in Phone Book.
Call Records 94 Delete All (Menu 3.4) This menu allows you to dele te all of the recor ds in each call record. Y ou can also delete all of your call records at one time. When a confirming mess age displays, p ress the Yes soft key to co nfirm. To Press the select a call record to clear Up or Down key .
Call Records 95 Call Time (Menu 3.5) This menu le ts you view t he time log for call s made and received. Note : The actual time invoiced for calls by your servi ce provider ma y v ary , depending on network fea tures, ro unding-off fo r billing purposes and so on.
Call Records 96 Call Cost (Menu 3.6) Note : This serv ice is not av ailable on your O 2 Play & Go mobile. This network feature le ts you v iew the cost o f calls. This menu may not be av ailable depending on your SIM card. The following options are availab le: Last Call Cost : cost of the last c all you mad e.
97 Camera Using the camer a module embedd ed in your phone, you can take pho tos of pe ople or event s while on the move. Y ou can also send photos to o ther people in a mul timedia m essage or set one as a w allpaper . Y ou can also record videos using t he phone as a camcorder .
Camera 98 2. Adjust the image by aiming the camera at the subject. • Use the Left and Right keys to adjust the brightness of the image. • Use the Up and Down keys to zoo m in or out. • Use the V olume keys on the left side of the phone to flip the image ve rtically or horizontally .
Camera 99 When you pre ss the Options soft key after sav ing a photo, the following options are av ailable: Send : allows you to send the pho to using a multimedia message. F or further details, see page 83. Set as : allows you to set the image as y our wallpaper for the idle screen or a caller ID image for Phone Book entries.

Camera 101 Photo Quality : allows you to change the image quality . Shutter Sound : allows you to select a sound when you press the shutter , the left soft key or Camera key . Default Name : all ows you to change the default prefix of the photo name. Help : shows you the functions of the k eys you can use.
Camera 102 My Photos (Menu 4.2) This menu allows you to review your photo s. When you access this menu, your phone displays them in Thumbnail mode, which shows photos as small images . Scroll through the photos using the Na vigation keys. The icon indicates that it contains the photos taken in Mu lti-shot mode.
Camera 103 Take Videos (Menu 4.3) Y ou can record a video that is currently displayed on the camera screen and save it as an MJPEG file. Recording a Vi deo 1. When the cam era turn s on, adjust th e image by aiming the camera at the subjec t. • Use the Left and Right keys to adjust the brightness of the image.
