5 Section 1: Getting Star ted This section explains how to st art using your phone by first configuring your hard ware, activating your servic e, and then setting up your voice mail . Setting Up Y our Phone Prior to us e it is necessary to i nstall both the ba ttery and SIM int o their corresponding inte rnal compartments.
Getting Started 6 Note: If the card is not inserted correctly , the phone does not detect the SIM card. Re-orient the card back into the slot. Ins tal lin g the Memor y Car d Y our phone also supports the use of a memor y card (microSD) for data stora ge of such things as da ta, music, pictures, and video files.
7 3. Replace the batter y cover onto the back of the phone in the direction shown by the arrow (1). 4. Press down along the bottom of the phone until you he ar a light click (2). 5. Press down firmly al ong the e dges to ensure that the cover is flush with the phon e (3).
Getting Started 8 2. Plug the data cable into the ba se piece provided and into the Power/Acce ssory Interfac e connector on your phone. 3. Plug the base piece into a standard AC wall outlet. 4. When the battery is fully charged, the phone displays a message telling you the batt ery is ful l.
9 Switching the Phone On or Of f 1. Press and hold or unti l th e phone switc hes on. The phone launches the activati on splash screen and then proceeds to search for the ne twor k. Once the network has been found, you can ma ke or receive calls. Note: The display language is preset to English at the factor y .

19 Section 3: Entering T e xt This section outlines ho w to select the desi red text entry mode when entering characters usin g th e QWERTY ke yboard-style keypad. This section also describes how to use the T9 predictive text entry system to reduce the numb er of key strokes needed to enter text.
Entering T e xt 20 Changing the T ext I nput Mode The avai lable T ext Input modes are: Fn ( 123 numeric), Abc , and Symbols (Sym ) . Refer to the T ext Input mode in the upper right corner of the sc reen to identif y the mode. • Abc : activates the default alphabe t keys.
21 Using SY M (sy mbol) Mode Symbol mode enabl es you to i nsert symbols and punctuation marks into text . 1. In Landscape mode, press th e key to display a matrix of symbo ls. Use the a rrow keys to display more tables. 2. Select the num ber of the corresponding symb ol and pres s the OK soft key to insert the symbol into the text me ssage.
Entering T e xt 22 Add a New W or d into the T9 Dictionar y 1. After pressing the keys corresponding to the word you want to add, press th e key to display the alt ernative words. 2. When the last alternative word displays, Spell displays. Press the Spell soft key .

25 Making a Call from the Addr ess Book Y o u can store phone numbers that you use regularly on the SIM card or in the pho ne’ s mem ory . These en tries are collec tively called the Address Book . Fo r further details about the Ad dress Book fe a ture, see “Finding an Address Book Entry” on page 43.
Call Functions 26 T o make a new call while you ha ve a call in progress: 1. While o n a call, pre ss Options ➔ Hold . 2. Dial the ne w phone number or look it up in the Address Book. 3. Press to dial the second number . – or – Press Options ➔ New Call to dial the second number .

29 Play a Video S hare R ecording During a call (while no t in a Live V ide o Sha re session) you can share a recorded vide o for the recipient. 1. Press Opti ons ➔ Vi d e o S h ar e ➔ Recorded and then select from the av ailable f iles in your Vi d e o fo lder .
Call Functions 30 Viewing Mis sed Calls The number of calls missed displays on the Idle screen. 1. From the Idle Screen, briefly press and use the Right navigation key to scroll to the Missed calls screen. The most recently missed cal ls display . If there is only o ne missed call, pressing dials th e number .
31 Deleting a M issed Call 1. Fr om the Id le Screen, briefly pr ess and use the Right naviga tion key to scroll to the Missed calls screen. 2. Highlight the desi red missed call. 3. Press Options ➔ Del ete and press the Right naviga tion key to choose Selected or All .
Call Functions 32 Call W aiting The Call Waiting feature al lows yo u to answer an i ncoming call while you have a call in prog ress, if this s ervice is supported by the network, and you have set the Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Call s ➔ Voice Call ➔ Call waitin g Menu to Activated .
33 Section 5: Messaging This section describes how to send or receive dif ferent types o f messag es. It also includes the feat ures and functional ity associated with messaging.
Messaging 34 • Sound : all ows you to choo se an exist ing audi o file from the Aud io folder . • T emplates : allows y ou to insert pre-writ ten se ntences, such as “Call me when you get this message”. •E m o t i c o n : all ows you to add emoticons, such as a happ y face to your mess age.

Messaging 36 Deleting Messages When your p hone’ s memory is full, an noti fication message displays and you cannot receiv e any new messages. Use the Delete option t o erase obso lete messages, freeing memor y for new messages. Y ou can delete th e messages eith er individually or all at one tim e.
37 – Message Siz e : you can set the maximum allowed size for a multim edia message. – Get Del iver y Re port : when this option is enabled, the netwo rk informs you whether or not your message was delivered. – Get Read Report : when this optio n is enabled, your phone s ends a request for a reply along with your mes sa ge to the reci pient.
Messaging 38 V oicemail The V oicemail option allows you ed it the existing num ber and create a new number to use wh en accessing remote voicemail. Impo rtant!: Changing the Voicemail Center Address can affect your ability to access your voicemail. Check with your provider’ s Customer Service before changing.

47 R e naming a Cal ler Gro up 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ Groups . 2. Highlight t he group that you want to rename. 3. Press Opti ons ➔ Rename . 4. Backspace over the original na me and use the ke ypad to enter a new name for this group, th en press Save .

49 Deleting all entries fr om the SIM 1. In Idle mode, press Menu ➔ Address Book ➔ SIM Management ➔ Delete Contacts from SIM . 2. Highlight a member from t he list or highlight All and press to crea te a checkmar k. 3. Press Delet e . 4. At the prompt, press Ye s to delete th e contact, or No to cancel .

Note: Light settings can affect the length of time before batter y recharge is necessary . – Brightness : allows you to adjust the display brightness for the LCD t o see it better in different lighting conditions .

A corresponding area of the world map displays. 4. Highlight the Daylight saving checkbox and press if Daylight Saving time a pplies, then press OK .
55 Shor tcuts The Shortc uts option allows yo u to change the applica tions assigned to your Navigation keys. 1. In Idle mode, selec t Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Phone ➔ Shortcuts . 2. Use the Navigation keys to se lect the Up, Down, Right, or Left key .
Changing Y our Settings 56 Own Number The Own Number option displays the number assigned to the SIM card in your phone. Y ou can ch ange the number , but entering anothe r number may prevent y ou from ma king or rece iving calls on the handset. Y ou may also ad d other names a nd numbers into your phone for easy referral.
57 The follow ing opti ons are av ailable: – Off : the phone conn ects directly to the network wh en you switch it on. – On : you must enter the PIN each time the pho ne is switched on. Note: Before disabling the Check PIN Code feature, you must enter your PIN.
Changing Y our Settings 58 Change PIN Code This option a l lows you to c hange your curr ent PIN, provided that the PIN Check fea ture is enabled. Y ou must ente r the current PIN before you can specify a new one. Once you enter a new PIN, you are asked t o confirm it by ente ring it again.
59 R e stor e Phon e The Restore Phone option is t he same as the Reset Phone option described above in tha t all setti ngs are reset to factor y de faults. However , wit h the Restore Phone option, all user da ta delete s. Warning!: All User Data such as contacts, messages, pictures, videos, and music is deleted.

61 Bluetooth Ac tivation T o use the Bluetooth option you m ust first activate it. W hen the Bluetooth is deactiva ted, you cannot send or receive informa tion via Bluetooth. T o save batt ery life or in situa tions where Bluetooth use is prohibited, you can tu rn off the Bluetooth wireless technology headset.

69 TTY Settings TTY (also known as a TDD or T ext T elephone) is a telecommuni cations devi ce that al lows people who are dea f or hard of hearing, or who have sp eech or language disabilities, to communicate via a telephone. Th is phone co mes TTY -ready and only requ ires the inse rtion of the TTY devi ce to enable this feature.
Camera 70 Section 8: Camera This section explains ho w to use the camera on you r phone. Y ou can take photographs and shoot video by usin g the built-in camera function ality . Y our 2.0 megapi xel camera produces photos in JPEG format. Impo rtant!: Do not take photos of people without their permission.

This page gives you quick access to in formation such as local weather , sports scores, horoscope info rmation a n d quick links to the previousl y mentioned shopping sites.

87 Section 12: A T&T GPS Y o ur device is equipped with a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver . Y our device can re ceive loca tion informa tion from the GPS satell ite through the inte rnal antenna. A T&T GPS provides you with access to real-time GPS-driven applications.
