20. When using iFIT.com programs, an electronic “ chirping” sound will alert you when the speed and/or incline of the treadmill is about t o change. Always listen for the “chirp” and be prepared for speed and/or incline changes. I n some instances, the speed and/or incline may change before the personal trainer de- scribes the change.

ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call toll-free 1-800-445-2480. Asse mbly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispos e of the packin g mat erials until assem bly is compl eted.

8 7. Attach the Console Back (104) to the console assembly with five 3/4” Screws (33). Be careful not to pinch any wires. 104 33 Console Assembly 33 33 7 76 52 77 101 80 6. Turn the Console (101) upside-down; be careful not to scratch the Console. Remove the Console Back (104 [see drawing 7]) from the Console.
11. Make sure that all parts are properly tightened before you use the treadmill. Note: Extra hardware may be included. Keep the included allen wrenches in a secure place; the large allen wrench is used to adjust the walking belt (see page 26). To protect the floor or carpet, place a mat under the treadmill.
10 THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
1 1 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec- tive. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a button.
12 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER Plug in the power cord (see page 10). Locate the reset /off c ircuit breaker near the power cord. Make s ure that the circuit breaker is in the reset position.
13 The left display will show the incline level of the treadmill and the elapsed time. The display will a lso show your heart rate when you use the hand- grip pulse sensor or the optional chest pulse sen- s or. N ote: Each time the speed setting changes, the di splay will s how your pace (in minutes per mile) for a few seconds.
14 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 12. S elect one of the four preset programs. To select one of the four preset programs, press the Select Program button repeatedly until “P1,” “P2,” “P3,” or “P4” appears in the left display.
15 Follow your progress with the displays. See step 5 on page 12. Measure your heart rate if desired. S ee step 6 on page 13. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 13. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. See step 8 on page 13.
16 E nter a target heart rate setting. If pulse program 5 is selected, the maxi- mum target heart rate setting of the program will appear in the left d isplay. If desired, press the Heart Rate increase and decrease but- tons to change the maximum target heart rate set- ting (see EXERCISE INTENSITY on page 28).
17 HOW TO CONNECT THE TREADMILL TO USE IFIT.COM PROGRAMS To use iFIT.com MP3 or CD programs , the treadmill m ust be connected to your MP3 player, CD player, p ortable stereo, home stereo, or computer. See pages 17 and 18 for connecting instructions. To use iFIT.
18 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO N ote: If your stereo has an unused LINE OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the LINE OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. A. Plug one end of a long 1/8” to RCA stereo audio cable (available at electronics stores) into the input jack on the console.
19 HOW TO CONNECT YOUR VCR N ote: If your VCR has an unused AUDIO OUT jack, see instruction A below. If the AUDIO OUT jack is b eing used, see instruction B. If you have a TV with a built-in VCR, see instruction B. If your VCR is connected to your home stereo, see HOW TO CONNECT YOUR HOME STEREO on page 18.
20 If the speed or incline settings are too high or too low, you can manually override the settings at any t ime by pressing the Speed or Incline buttons on the console. However, when the next “chirp” is h eard, the speed and/or incline will change to the next settings of the program.
21 HOW TO USE AN IFIT.COM PROGRAM DIRECTLY FROM OUR WEB SITE Our Web site at www.iFIT.com allows you to access basic programs, audio programs, and video programs directly from the internet. Additional options are s oon to be available. See www.iFIT.com for details.
22 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een operated and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved.
23 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be- come permanently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
24 HOW TO MOVE THE TREADMILL B efore moving the treadmill, convert the treadmill to the storage position as described above. Make sure that the c atch is securely held by the latch pin. 1. Hold the treadmill and place one foot on a wheel. 2. Tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely on the wheels.
25 PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a. Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor, and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet (see page 10). Use only a sing le-out let su rge su ppres- sor that meets all of the specifications described on page 10.
26 Locate the Reed Switch (47) and the Magnet (35) on the left side of the Pulley (36). Turn the Pulley until t he Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. M ake sure that the gap between the Magnet and the R eed Switch is about 1/8”. I f necessary, loosen the Screw (48), move the Reed Switch slightly, and then retighten the Screw.
27 PROBLEM: One of the upper body arms squeaks during use S OLUTION: a . Correcting this problem requires a small amount of white marine grease, available at most hardware s tores. Turn the Resistance Knob (83) counterclock- wise until it can be removed.
28 The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity.
29 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
