Getting S t arted Your PREMIO ® sy stem consists of three compon ents: a mid- tow er or desktop sy stem un it a key board a mouse Add y our choice of m onitor, and your s ystem is ready to use.
2 PREMIO Sy stem Manual Setting Up To set up your PREMIO s ystem , sim ply conn ect your m onitor, the m ouse, the key board, and any additional components y ou wan t to use to the system unit. Follow these easy steps: 1 Attach y our monitor’s v ideo cable to the video con nector.
Switches and Indicators 3 Sw itches and Indicators The sys tem un it’s front pan el provides access to th e CD-ROM and fl oppy drives , and to the s yst em’s sw itches an d indicator lights. The illustration below show s a mid-tow er system . If you have a desktop system , turn to the illustration on the nex t page.
4 PREMIO Sy stem Manual The reset button restarts the system. The hard drive indicator lights when the hard drive is in use. The power indicato r lights wh en the system is on. The power switch turns the system on and o ff. The CD-ROM drive read s information on CDs.

6 PREMIO Sy stem Manual Opening the Sy stem Unit Note Opening the system unit could affect your warranty. Check with the dealer where you purchased your system before opening the system unit. To o p en the sy stem unit, f ollow these steps 1 Turn off the sys tem an d unplug the power c ord .
Installing an Expansion Card 7 Inst alling an Exp ansion Card To install an expans ion card, open the sy stem un it as described on the previous page. The n follow these steps: 1 Rem ove the screw securing the slot brack et cover for the expansi on slot you want to use.

Follow these g eneral guidelines w hen adding m emory: Use o nly the same type of memory througho ut.
Installing Memor y 9 Removing a SIMM To remove a SIMM, follow these steps : 1 Press the holding clips on both side s o f the SIMM outw ard to release it. 2 Tilt the SIMM to a 45° angle. 3 Pull the SIMM up and ou t of the socket. Installing a DIMM To install a DIMM, follow these steps: 1 Insert the DIMM vertically into the socket.
10 PREMIO Sy stem Manual Removing a DIMM To remove a DIMM, follow these st eps: 1 Push down and out on the plas tic clips at either end to releas e them .
Installing a Hard Drive 11 Inst alling a Hard Drive To install a hard dr ive in your system , follo w these steps: 1 Disconnect th e hard drive cable and pow er connector. 2 Rem ove the tw o screws securing th e drive bay. 3 Slide the bay tow ard the rear of the system unit to remove it.

Troubleshoot ing 13 Keyboard Does Not Work If the Nu mLock indicator in the u pper right corner of the key board does not lig ht w hen th e sys tem pow ers up, or the key board does not w ork: Check that th e keyboard cable is securely attach ed to the sy stem u nit’s k eyboard conn ector.
14 PREMIO Sy stem Manual Sy stem Unit Problems The fa n inside the system unit should make a low, stead y sound wh en operating properly. If the fan is totally silent: Check th at the sys tem pow er cord is securely attached to the back of the sys tem u nit and to a pow er outlet.
