Owner’s Manual: Treadmill Safety Features 10 Using the Handrails T o maint ai n your ba lance, alw ays gr asp a handr ai l when yo u step on or off the treadmill, and when you use the keypad. T urning the Unit ON and OFF T o turn the unit ON and O FF , use the I/O power switch located at the front of the unit, near the power cord.
Owner’s Manual: Heart Rate Features 11 Heart Rate F eatures Heart rate and SmartRate ® features are available when you wear the chest strap or gr asp both touch-sensitiv e handrail grips. W hen a heartbeat is detected, the Heart Rate display shows your heart rate and the SmartRate LE D pulses and indicates your target zone.

Owner’s Manual: Workout Options 22 Choosing QU ICK ST ART 1. Press QU IC KS T ART at the Precor banner to bypass the setup prompts and access the Manual (MAN L) program. QU IC KS T A RT applies the following defaults: T o use the SmartRate feature, you need to specify your age.
Owner’s Manual: Workout Options 23 Selecting a User I D Choosing a user I D enables the treadmill to identify you and track your cumulative workout statistics. It also lets you personalize your workout sessi on and stores information about your preferred program, workout time, we ight, and age.
Owner’s Manual: Workout Options 24 Selecting a Program 1. At the Precor banner , press E NTE R, and then press the arrow keys to cycle through the available programs. The abbreviated program name and a portion of the program profile appear in the display .
Owner’s Manual: Workout Options 25 3. A progr am time blinks in the center display . If a time from the previous workout is available, it replaces the default time. Press the arrow keys to select a program time (between 0 and 240 minutes) and then press E NTE R.
Owner’s Manual: Workout Options 26 T o prematurely end the 5-minute cool -down period, do the following: 1. Grasp the handrail with one hand. 2. Press the red ST O P button with your other hand. The treadmill enters pause mode . 3. Press R E S ET to view the workout summary .

Owner’s Manual: Programs 31 Run (R U N_) Programs The Ru n programs provide varying levels of exertion from an easy run (R U N1) to a more advanced level (R U N3) and have preprogrammed inclines similar to the w alk programs. The percentage of incline and the frequency with whic h the profile ch anges determine the level of difficulty .

Owner’s Manual: Programs 33 W eight Loss (WTLS) Program W ith the W eight Loss progr am, the w orkout time is fixed at 28 minutes and consists of seven, 4-minute intervals. Y ou are not prompted for a workout time . Us e the arrow keys to set the speed or the incline for t he rest or work interval.
Owner’s Manual: Programs 34 Heart Rate Control (H RC) Program The Heart Rate Control program lets you set a target for your heart rate. The program adjusts the incline to maintain your heart rate within two beats per minute of the target heart rate while you work out.
Owner’s Manual: Programs 35 Using the H RC Program W hen the w arm-up period concludes: • The treadmill automatical ly adjusts the incline to ke ep your heart rate at the selected target. Pressing the I N C LI N E arrow keys no longer affects the lift motor and incline, but does c hange the t arget heart ra te.
