12 Getting Started How to Make Calls F rom home screen, en ter a phone number . Press the Send Ke y to place the call. Using the Address Book F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > Addr ess Book . Highlight a cont act and press the Send K ey to call the con tact.
Adjusting the V olume During a call, press the V olume Up/Down Ke ys to adjust the earpiece or speaker volume. Using Call Histor y F rom the home screen, pr ess the Send Ke y to check the All Calls log f or a list of recent calls.
17 Address Book Configuring Speed Dial F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > Addr ess Book . Use the 4- W ay Navigation Ke y to select a contact, press the L eft Soft K ey f or Options and select Set as Speed Dial . Press Up or Down on the 4-W ay Navigation K ey to select an Unassigned slot.
Press ( Shift Ke y ) to switch the upper case and lowercase letters. Press the Shift Ke y twice to change to all caps. Press ( Alt Ke y ) to ent er a number or alternat e character shown on a k ey . Press the Alt Ke y twice to change to numeric mode. T o enter symbols, press ( Symbols Ke y ), then use the 4- Wa y Navigation K ey to locate a symbol.
Messaging This phone supports the following message types: • T ext Messages (SMS) • Multimedia (Picture) Messages (MMS) Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive te xt messages to and from other mobile phones and email addresses.

Email Setting Up Y our Email Account With the Email applica tion, you can access your email fr om various pro viders including AOL, ® Y ahoo! ® Mail, Gmail, ™ AIM, ® and Hotmail. ® F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > Email . Select the name of your email pro vider .
Browsing the In ternet Browse the web directly fr om your mobile phone. Check the wea ther , visit your fav orite websit es, and enjoy access to the In ternet on the go. Using Mobile W eb F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > Mobile W eb . Press the Left Soft Ke y for O ptions and select New Link [*] to ent er a website address.
When you pair y our phone with another device, you will be giv en the option to set incoming security . There are two options for incoming security: Always Ask and Always Connect. Always Ask: Require the other Bluetooth de vice that is connecting to y our phone to request connections in the futur e.
The Camera fea ture allows you t o take phot os and shoot video clips. Z431 also fea tures a V oice Recorder for capturing notes. Capturing and Viewing Pictures Y our phone has an integrated digit al camera, which allows you t o capture images. Photos tak en with the camera can be stored in the phone’s memory or on the microSD card.
Shop Music This option allows you to pur chase and download your f avorite songs f rom a full music catalog. Choose fr om current top hits, or sear ch by song title or artist, and preview bef ore y ou buy . Music Player The Music Player allows y ou to listen to the songs y ou have stor ed on your phone.
V oice Recorder This function allows you to r ecord a voice memo . Y ou can also set the voice memo as a ringtone. F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > M y Stuff > T ools > V oice Recorder . Select Start to start recording your voice memo .
Y ou will see the icons for all of your configured social networks display ed. Select a social network with the 4- W ay Navigation K ey and press the OK K ey t o view recent upda tes. Change Notification Settings T o change your notification settings, from the Social Net home screen, press the Left Soft K ey f or Settings .
Press right on the 4- W ay Navigation Ke y to highlight F ind and press the OK Ke y . Scroll down to view search r esults. Use the 4- W ay Navigation K ey to highligh t an item from the search r esults, and press the OK K ey to view det ails.
T ools Alarm This fea ture allows you t o set an alarm to ring at a specific time. F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > M y Stuff > T ools > Alarm . Press the OK Ke y to edit and configure the alarm as needed. Alarm Switch: T urns the alarm clock on or off .
Tip Calculator The Tip Calculator will automa tically calculate the tip a t a restauran t, and it can also divide the bill according to the number of people in the party . F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > M y Stuff > T ools > Tip Calculator .
Recent Calls With this f eatur e, you can check the call log and call dura tion. F rom the home screen, pr ess the Left Soft K e y for Go T o and s elect Recent Calls . There are f our tabs on the Screen: All Calls, Missed Calls, Dialed Calls, and Received Calls.
• Auto K eypad L ock: Configure your phone to lock the k eypad when it is not in use. Y ou can select the time delay from the available choices. If you select Off , the phone will not lock the keypad aut omatically . • Main Menu Style: Set the main menu to be displayed as a list or a grid.
Call F orwarding: Allows you to reroute y our incoming calls to another phone number . C on tact your service pro vider for mor e informa tion and availability . Call W aiting: If a call comes in when you ar e already on a call, you will be notified with a call waiting tone.
PIN2 and PUK Codes PIN2 codes are used for some settings. T o change the PIN2 code, use the s ame procedure as outlined abov e f or the PIN code. A PUK code is the unlock code for the SIM car d. This code can be used to unlock a SIM card when you hav e enter ed the wrong PIN code 10 times.
Accessibility TT Y Mode Y our handset is a T TY -compatible device. Simply connect the TTY equipment to the headset jack. F rom the home screen, select Main Menu > Settings > Phone Set tings > TT Y Setting . Select one of the following options and pr ess the OK Ke y .
• When disposing of a batt ery , be sure it is nonconducting by applying vinyl tape to the (+) and (-) terminals. • Do not attempt t o disassemble or modify the battery . • Do not drop or throw the handset.

Road Safety • Y ou must exercise proper con trol of your v ehicle at all times. Giv e your full atten tion to driving. • Pull over t o the side of the road and park bef ore making or answering a call, if driving conditions require it.
