1. Get started Insert SIM card and battery A USIM card is an enhanced version of the SIM card and is supported by UMTS mobile phones. 1. To remove the back cover of the device, press the back cover with your fingers, slide th e cover open (1), and lift the cover off.
2. Place the card in the slot with the contact area facing down (2). 3. Push the card gently to lock it into p lace. Cl ose the slot cover (3). Remove a memory c ard Important: Do not remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed.
Switch the device on and off Press and hold the power key to switch the device on and off. A short press of this key ends calls and applications. If the device asks for a PIN code, enter the PIN code, and select OK . If the device asks for the lock code, enter the lock code, and select OK .
Settings wizard Select > Settings > Sett. wizard . The Settings wizard application configures your device for operator and e-mail settings based on your service provider. Configuring other sett ings may also be p ossible. To use these services, you may have to contact your service provider to activate a data connection or other services.

Remember to switch off your device when wireless phone use is prohibited. Display indicators The device is being used in a UMTS network or a GSM network (network service). The b ar next to the icon indicates the signal strength of th e network at your current location.
High-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) is supported and available (network service). T he icon may vary between regions. indicates that the connection is act ive. indicates that th e connection is on hold. Your device is connected to a computer with a USB data cable.
Keypad lock (keyguard) To lock the keypad in the home screen, press the left selection key and * within 1.5 seconds. To set the device to automatically lock the keypa d after a certain time, select > Settings > Settings and General > Security > Phone and SIM card > Keypad autolock period > User defined and the d esired time.

Wrist strap Thread the wrist strap, an d tighten it. 3. Support In-device help Your device contains instru ctions to help to use the applications in your device. To open help texts from the main menu, select > Settings > Help > Help and the application for which you want to read inst ructions.

Nokia Software Checker Nokia Software checker Select > Settings > SW checker . Nokia may produce software updates for your device that offer new features, enhanced functionality, and improved performance. Software updates may not be available for all products or their varia nts.
To make a call using the log, pr ess the call key to view up to 20 numbers that you last called or attempted to call. Scroll to the desired number or name, and press the call key. To adjust the volume of an active call, use the volume keys. To switch from a voice call to a video call, select Options > Switch to video call .
2. When the participant an swers, select Options > Ne w call . 3. When you have made a phone call to all the participants, select Options > Conference to merge the calls into a conference call. To mute the microphone of your device during the call, select Options > Mute .
For the best noise cancellation, hold the device with the earpiece to your ear and the main microphone (1) towards yo ur mouth. Do not cover the microphone (2) a t the back of the device. Video calls Make a video call Warning: Do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud.
Call settings Call settings Select > Settings > Settings and Phone > Ca ll . Select from the following: ● Send my caller ID — Display your phone number to t he person you are calling. ● Call wait ing — Set the dev ice to notify you of incoming calls while you are in a call (network service).
To stop diverting calls, scroll to the diverting option, and select Options > Deactivate . Call barring Select > Settings > Settings and Phone > Ca ll barring . You can bar the calls that can be made or received with the device (network service).

5. Music Warning: Listen to music at a moderate level. Continuous exposure to high volume m ay damage your hearing. Do not hold the device near your ea r when the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud. You can listen t o music and po d cast episodes also when the offline profile is activated.
Tip: You can als o start the Say and Play application by selecting > Internet > Music search . The voice commands are based on the meta data (artist's name and song title) of the songs in your device. Say a nd Play supports two spoken language s: English and the language you have chosen as the de vice language.
6. Positioning About GPS The coordinates in the GPS are expressed in the degrees and decimal degrees format usin g the international WGS-84 coordinate system. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operated by the government of the United States, which is solely responsible for its accuracy and maintenanc e.
About Maps With Maps, you can see you r current location on the map, browse maps of different cities and countries, search for places, plan routes from on e location to another, save locations, and send them to compatible dev ices.

To clear the destination set for your trip, select Stop navigation . Retrieve positi on information Select > Settings > Connectivity > GPS data and Position . In the position view, you can view the position inform ation of your current location.
To erase a charact er, press the clear key. Press and hold the clear key to erase more than one character. To enter the most common punctuation marks, press 1 repeatedly until the desired p unctuation mark is displayed. To add special characters, press an d hold * .
8. Messaging Only devices that have compat ible features can receive and display multimedia m essages. The ap pearance of a messag e may vary depending on the receivi ng device. Messaging main view Press , and select Messaging (network service). To create a new message, select New message .
4. In the message field, write the message. 5. To add a media object to a multimedia message, select Options > Insert content , the object type or sour ce, and the desired object. To add a business card, slide, note, or some other file to the message, select Options > Insert content > Ins ert other .

Ringing tones, imag es, and call te xt for contacts You can define a ringing ton e for a contact or group , and an image and a call text for a contact. When the contact calls you, the device plays the selected ringing tone and sh ows the call text or image (if the caller’s ph one number is sent with the call and your device recognises it).

13. Personalisation Themes Change the display theme Select > Settings > T hemes . To change the theme used in all applications, select General . To change the theme used in the main menu, select Menu view . To change the theme for a particular applicat ion, select the application-specific folder.
To set the profile to be active until a certain tim e within the next 24 hours, scroll to the profile, select Options > Timed , and set the time. When the time expires, the profile changes back to the previously active non-timed profile. When the profile is timed, is displayed in the home screen.
To change the alarm tone, select Clock alarm tone . 15. Office applications PDF reader Select > Applicatio ns > Organiser > Adobe PDF . With PDF reader, you can read PDF documents on the display of your device; search for text in the documents; modify settings, such as zoom level and pag e views; and send PDF files using e-mail.
1. Select Option s > Currency rates . 2. The default name for the cu rrency items is Foreign. To rename a currency, select Options > Rename currency . 3. Add the exchange rates fo r the currencies, and select Done . 4. In the other Unit field, se lect the currency to which you want to convert .
Active notes Active notes allows you to crea te notes that contai n images and sound or video clips . You can also link a not e to a contact. The note is dis played during a call with the cont act. Create and edit notes Select > Applicatio ns > Organiser > Active notes .
● Synchronisation — Synchronise the notes with compatible applications on a compatible device, or define the synchronisation settings. Zip manager Select > Applicatio ns > Organiser > Zip .
To define which profile is activated wh en you attach an accessory to your device, select the accessory and Default profile . To set the device to answer phone calls automatically after 5 seconds when an accessory is attach ed, select Automatic answer > On .
Important: Only install and use ap plications and other software from trusted sources, such a s applications that are Symbian Signed or ha ve passed the Java Verified testing.
If you remove software, you can only reinstall it if you have the original software package or a full backup of the removed software package. If you remove a software package, you may no longer be able to open documents created with that software.
Configuration settings may in clude connection and other settings used by different appl ications in your device. The available options may vary. The remote configuration connection is usually started by the server when the device settin gs need to be updated.

Open the blocked devices tab, and select Opt ions > Delete . If you reject a pairing reques t from another device, you are asked if you want to block all future connection requests from this device. If y ou accept the qu ery, the remote device i s added to the list of blocked devices.
