✔ DO ensure that all instructions have been f ollowed before po wer is applied to system. The installation shall be carried out in accordance with all applicable installation rules. ✔ DO use only M&S systems brand cable (e xcept for Cat-5 & RG-6) as called out in these instructions.
1 ✔ DO NO T install the dmc1 system until after the application of any wall covering material. ✔ DO NO T install any satellite speakers that are rated other than 45-ohms impedance. Damage to the amplifi er will occur . ✔ DO NO T power up the dmc1 Master Station unit until all remote stations and speakers are connected.
2 T OOLS REQUIRED The fi nish-out installation should be made after the application of any w all covering material. 3 D OOR ST A TION INST ALLA T OIN Door stations are an intercom speaker that mounts b y a home entrance door . Models are av ailable with and without a doorbell button. 1. At each Door Station location, strip approximately 4 inches of jack et from the cables and separate the colored wires.
4 E XTERNAL MUSIC SOURCE The dmc1 Master Station can pla y audio from an external source. The Model A WP (white) or Model A WP A (almond) A udio Input W all Plate features two stereo pairs of RCA jacks that can be connected to a stereo receiv er , tele vision, D VD , or por tab le music play er .
5 Press-on Connector Cable T ermination 1. Gather all room, patio , and Door Station cables together and cut them to the same length leaving appro ximately 12 inches entering into the wall housing. BE SURE THA T THE CABLES REMAIN LABELED . ✔ IMPORT ANT : V er ify all cable run locations prior to connecting if they were not labeled at rough-in.
6 Optional Chime Module Installation The dmc1 suppor ts the 3-note Model MC3 and 8-note Model MC8 chime modules. The chime module installs inside the wall housing and is activ ated by the Door Station pushbutton. 1. Install the chime module circuit board by snapping it onto the f our plastic mounting standoffs in the wall housing.
7 Door Station Connection to Master Station The Door Station connects to the two scre w ter minals between the quic k connector sockets . If the Door Station has a bell button, it connects to the optional chime module . 1. Connect the BLACK wire from the Door Station to the scre w terminal labeled DOOR BLACK on the dmc1 Master Station.
8 Mounting in a Master Station Only Installation When the dmc1 Master Station is used without the optional CD Pla yer , the dmc1 mounts inside the dmc1H wall housing. F ollow these steps f or mounting the Master Station. 1. V erify that the circuit breaker controlling the po wer to the wall housing transformer is OFF .
