DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS The DXS-31 and DXS-32 sensors monitor doors and windows . They send r adio signals to the Console. One type of signal is sent when the door or window is opened, and a diff erent type of signal is sent when the door or window is closed.
E X AMPLE S Y S TEM ✦ The e xample shows a typical D VS-2400 system. ✦ Any or all of the accessories shown can be used. ✦ A total of 24 sensors can be used with each Console . DESIGN THE INS T ALL A TION 1. Dra w a fl oor plan for the installation.
DOOR/WINDOW SENSOR ✦ Sensor mounts on door or window with adjacent magnet. ✦ Opening door or window mo ves magnet a wa y , trigger ing sensor . ✦ Pressing the case causes sensor to send a test signal. ✦ Jumper inside f or INST ANT or DELA YED alar m setting.
1 24-HOUR BUTT ONS ★ Pressing FIRE for two seconds sounds the fi re siren and sends a “fi re” message to a central monitoring station through the digital communicator (if the system is monitored).

CONSOLE LOCA TION ✎ NOTE: Wireless sensor signals must be ab le to reach the Console. ✔ T r y to centrally locate the Console. ✔ Keep Console a wa y from large metal appliances. ✔ Maximum recommended sensor range is 400 f eet (system tested at 1000 feet).
E XTERNAL CONSOLE SPE AKER CONNECTION ✦ An e xter nal console speaker sounds system tones and aler ts occupants with a loud siren during alar m. ✦ With the VB-2 module installed, the Central Station can talk to the occupants through the e xter nal console speaker .
TELEPHONE LINE CONNECTION ✦ Connect the Console to the telephone line if the system is monitored, requires 2-wa y audio, or requires telephone remote command. ✦ T elephone RING & TIP terminals are for connection to the incoming telephone line.
CONSOLE POWER CONNEC TION ✦ The Console is powered b y a low voltage plug-in transf ormer . ✦ Use up to 25 f eet of 20 A WG or larger two-conductor wire to connect the transf or mer to the Console. 1. Route the po wer wires from the plug-in transf or mer to the Console.
✦ In a new installation, when po wer is fi rst applied the system's master user code is “1234” . CRE A TE THE MAS TER USER CODE ✎ NOTE: Local programming m ust be entered on the Console's keypad, not on a wireless remote keypad. 1.
PROGRAMMING DIFFERENT SENSOR TYPES ✦ F ollow the instructions on the previous page to select a sensor number to progr am the sensor into . ✎ NOTE: A sensor can be programmed into more than one location. Be sure to choose an UNUSED sensor number .
✦ Each accessor y sensor is packaged with its o wn set of installation instructions specifi c to the model of sensor . ✦ Refer to the sensor's instructions f or details on installing, operating, and testing of the sensor .
D XS-3 1 & D XS-3 2 DOOR/WINDOW SENSORS ✦ The DXS-31 and DXS-32 sensors can be used to monitor doors, windo ws, cabinets, cr awl space doors, gates , freezer doors, and man y other moving objects that could be used f or intrusion or need to be monitored.
✦ The Console can be customized f or the specifi c installation. ✦ A label sheet with sensor location names is provided with the Console . ✦ Labeling the sensors allows quic k and easy ident.
OFF MODE ✦ Use this mode to disarm the burglar y por tion of the system. ✦ Switching to Off Mode stops an y alarms in progress. ✦ The 24-hour functions are still active in Off Mode and can be triggered by pressing the FIRE or EMERGENCY button.
HOME MODE ✦ Use this mode when sleeping or when any one is sta ying inside. ✦ Home Mode causes an instant alarm when any perimeter sensor is tr iggered. ✦ Home Mode causes a dela yed alarm when any e xit/ entr y sensor is triggered (except in Home Instant Mode when they are instant).
A WA Y MODE ✦ Use this mode when no one will be sta ying home. ✦ Each burglary sensor can trigger the siren once per arming per iod. ✦ A wa y Mode causes an instant alar m when any perimeter sensor is tr iggered. ✦ A wa y Mode causes a delayed alarm when any e xit/entr y sensor is triggered.
TES T MODE ✦ Even though this is a self-monitoring supervised system, the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association recommends that all security systems should be tested manually on a regular basis. 1. The Console must be in Off Mode bef ore switching to T est Mode.
✦ The D VS-2400 Console is a self-monitor ing super vised wireless system. ✦ If the Console detects a problem with an y of the super vised system sensors or with its pow er , it will displa y t.
✦ Adding additional sensors will increase the protection provided b y the system. ✦ All ground-le v el perimeter openings and accessible upper-stor y openings need protection. ✦ Motion detectors can protect interior areas and areas where valuab les are kept.
MAKING A SENSOR A 24-HOUR DOOR CHIME ✦ Sensors can be programmed to cause the Console to chime any time the y're activated. ✦ Chime-only sensors will not be able to trigger the alarm in any Console mode. ✦ The sensor must ha ve already been prog rammed into the Console (see “Adding Sensors to the System” f or details).
MAKING A SENSOR PERFORM A DIFFERENT FUNC TION ✦ Sensors can be reprogrammed to perf or m different sensor functions. ✦ The sensor must ha ve already been prog rammed into the Console (see “Adding sensors to the System” f or details). 1. Star t with the Console in T est Mode.
