3 INST ALLA TION SQUARE W A VE TIG 175 3 a) A metal underground water pipe in direct contact with the earth for ten feet or more. b) A 3/4” (19mm) galvanized pipe or a 5/8” (16mm) solid galvanized iron, steel or copper rod driven at least eight feet into the ground.
4 INST ALLA TION SQUARE W A VE TIG 175 4 Electrode/Gas Output Receptacle on the front of the welder and turn it clockwise until it is tight. This is a quick connect terminal and also provides the gas con- nection for the shielding gas to the torch. T o avoid receiving a high frequency shock, keep the TIG torch and cables in good condition.
5 INST ALLA TION SQUARE W A VE TIG 175 5 REMOTE CONTROL CONNECTION A remote control receptacle is provided on the case front of the welder for connecting a remote control to to the machine. A Foot Amptrol tm , foot activated remote control, is included with the Square W ave TIG 175.
6 OPERA TION 6 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Square W ave TIG 175 is a constant current, single range AC/DC TIG (GT A W) arc welding power source with built-in arc starter / stabilizer .
7 OPERA TION 7 1. POWER SWITCH & LIGHT - T urns power on or off to the welder . When switched “ON”, the cooling fan runs and the light will illuminate indicat- ing that the power is on. 2. TIG/STICK SWITCH - Selects the mode of output, either TIG (GT A W) or Stick (SMA W).
8 OPERA TION 8 6. REMOTE CONTROL CONNECT OR - This connector provides connection for a remote control. See Remote Control Operation in this section of the manual.
9 OPERA TION 9 to weld through the complete range of 12 to 175 amperes in AC TIG or DC- TIG requiring only one electrode, a 3/32” 2% thoriated tungsten. WELDING IN STICK MODE 1. Put the electrode holder and cable quick connect plug into the electrode output receptacle.
10 ACCESSORIES 10 OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES K964-1 Undercarriage with Pivoting Single Gas Cylinder Platform - This undercarriage features a piv- oting platform to easily load and unload the gas cylin- der without lifting. It was designed specifically for the Square W ave TIG 175 power source, and accommo- dates 7” to 9 1/4” diameter gas cylinders.
