Y our Phone’ s Menu Y our phone is preloaded with the Piv ot Theme. The Pivot Theme is the first scr een you see when you turn on your phone, and it gives you one-touch ac cess to the Main Menu , Mobile TV , Mobile Email , and the Mobil e Web . Al ways use the email link fr om the Pivot Theme.

Viewing the Display Scr een Y our phone’ s display scr een pr ovides a wealth of information about your phone’ s status and options. This list identifies the symbols you’ll see on your phone’ s display screen: indicates y our phone is using SSL (Secur e Sockets Layer) pr otocol for client/server c ommunication.

F eatur es of Y our Phone Congratulations on the pur chase of your phone. The Muziq TM by L G ® is lightweight, easy-to-use, and r eliable, and it also offers many signific ant featur es and service options.
Y our phone’ s outer scr een display allows y ou to monitor the phone’ s status and to see who’ s calling without opening the phone. T9 T ext Input l ets you quickly type messages with one ke ypres s per letter (see page 29). Speed dial lets y ou dial phone numbers with one or two ke ypres ses (see page 27).
T urning Y our Phone On and Off T urning Y our Phone On T o turn your phone on: Pr ess and hold for appro ximately two seconds. Once your phone is on, it may display “Sear ching for Service,” which indicates that y our phone is searching f or a signal.
Using Y our Phone’ s Battery and Charger Sprint- or manufactur er-approv ed batteries and acc essories can be f ound at Sprint Stor es or thr ough your phone’ s manufactur er, or contact your cabl e provider f or more information. Battery Capacity Y our phone is equipped with a Lithium Polymer battery .
Installing the Battery T o install the battery: 1. Place the edge of the battery that has the batt ery terminals into the opening on the back of the phone (1), and then pr ess it into plac e (2). 2. Align the tabs on the battery c over with the sl ots on the back of the phone (3), and then pr ess the co ver down until it clicks (4).
Char ging the Battery Y our phone’ s battery is r echar geable and should be char ged as soon as possibl e so you can begin using your phone. Keeping track of your battery’ s charge is important. If y our battery l evel bec omes too lo w, your phone automaticall y turns off and you will l ose all the information you wer e just working on.
Navigating Thr ough Phone Menus The navigation key on y our phone allows y ou to scr oll thr ough menus quickly and easil y . The scroll bar at the right of the menu keeps track of y our position in the menu at all times. T o navigate thr ough a menu, simply pr ess the navigation k ey up or down.
Backing Up Within a Menu T o go to the pre vious menu: Pr ess . T o return to s tandby mode: Pr ess . Displaying Y our Phone Number Just in case y ou for get your phone number, your phone can r emind you. T o display your phone number: Select Main Menu > Settings > Phone Information > Phone Number .
Making and Answering Calls Making Calls Placing a call fr om your phone is as easy as making a call fr om any landline phone. Just enter the number and pr ess , and you’r e on your way to clear calls. T o make a call using your keypad: 1. Make sur e your phone is on.
Dialing Options When you enter numbers in s tandby mode, you will see a variety of dialing options appear on the phone’ s display scr een. Call dials the displayed phone number . Contacts Match allows y ou to find Contacts entries that match the displayed number .
Answering Calls T o answer an incoming call: 1. Make sur e your phone is on. (If your phone is off, incoming calls go t o voicemail.) 2. Pr ess to answer an incoming call. (Depending on your phone’ s settings, you may also answer incoming calls by opening the phone or by pr essing any number key .
Answering a Roam Call With Call Guar d Enabled Call Guar d is an option that helps you manage your r oaming char ges when making or r eceiving calls whil e outside the Sprint National Network. Please see “Contr olling Y our Roaming Experience” on page 62 f or mor e information about r oaming.
Calling Emer gency Numbers Y ou can place calls to 911 (dial ), even if y our phone is lock ed or your ac count is r estricted. During the call, pr ess the desired menu lis t to display among menu lists. T o select menu, highlight it and pr ess . Mute or Unmute to mute your micr ophone, or to unmute the micr ophone if it was muted earlier .
Enhanced 911 (E911) Inf ormation This phone featur es an embedded Global Positioning Syst em (GPS) chip neces sary for utilizing E911 emer gency location services wher e available. When you place an emer gency 911 call, the GPS featur e of your phone begins to seek inf ormation to cal culate your appr oximate l ocation.

Saving a Phone Number Y our phone can stor e up to five phone numbers in each of 500 Contacts entries. Each entry’ s name can cont ain up to 32 characters. Y our phone automaticall y sorts the Contacts entries alphabeticall y . (F or mor e information, see Section 2F: Using Contacts on page 74.
4. T o dial the number, scr oll to Call and pr ess . Dialing and Saving Phone Numbers With Paus es Y ou can dial or save phone numbers with pauses for use with automated syst ems, such as voicemail or cr edit car d billing numbers.
Dialing F r om Contacts T o dial directl y from a Contacts entry: 1. Pr ess to access the main menu. Cont acts may also be acc essed by pr essing Contacts (right softkey) fr om the standby scr een. 2. Select Contacts . 3. Scr oll to Find/Add Entry and pres s .
Using Speed Dialing Y ou can stor e up to 99 numbers in your phone’ s speed dial memory to make c ontacting friends and family as easy as pr essing a button or two. With this f eature, you can dial speed dial entries using one keypr ess for l ocations 1-9 or two ke ypres ses for locations 10-99.
Entering T ext Sel ecting a T ext Input Mode Y our phone provides c onvenient ways to enter wor ds, letters, punctuation, and numbers whenev er you ar e pr ompted to enter te xt (for e xample, when adding a Contacts entry or when using Sprint Mail and SMS T ext Mes saging).
Entering T ext Using T9 T ext Input T9 T ext Input l ets you enter text in your phone by pr essing ke ys just once per l etter . (T o select the T9W ord mode when entering te xt, see “Selecting a T ext Input Mode” on page 28.) T9 T ext Input anal yzes the letters you ent er using an intuitive wor d database and cr eates a suitabl e word.
Adding a Wor d to the T9 Database If a wor d you want to enter is not display ed as an option when you ar e using T9 T ext Input, you can add it to the dat abase. T o add a wor d to the T9 T ext Input database: 1. Select the Abc char acter input mode.
Entering T ext Using Abc Mode T o enter text using Abc Mode (multi-tap key entry): 1. Select the Abc mode. (See “Sel ecting a T ext Input Mode” on page 28.

Sound Settings Ringer T ypes Ringer types help you identify incoming c alls and messages. Y ou can assign ringer types to individual Contacts entries, types of calls, and types of messages.
Selecting Ringer T ypes for Messages T o select a ringer type f or messages: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Sounds > Ringer T ype > Messages . 2. Select V oicemail , T ext Messages or Picture Mail . (The list of pr eprogrammed ringers is display ed.
3. Using the navigation ke y, choose a volume l evel and pr ess . Al ert Notification Y our phone can alert you with an audibl e tone when you change service ar eas, once a minute during a voice c all, when a call has been connect ed, or when the signal fades or a c all is dr opped.
Display Settings While y our wir eles s phone has the capability to support various display settings and downl oadable themes, it is r ecommended that you k eep the Pivot theme that is currentl y your default s tandby scr een.
Changing the Backlight Time Length The backlight setting lets y ou select how l ong the display scr een is backlit after any ke ypr ess is made. T o change the backlight setting: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Display > Main Scr een > Backlight .
Changing the Display Scr een for Inc oming Calls Y ou can set the screen saver t o be shown on the Incoming Calls display . T o set the incoming calls display: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Display > Main Scr een > Incoming Calls . 2. Select Caller ID or No Caller ID .
Changing the Multitasking Al ert Multitasking is a way of keeping one applic ation active whil e using another . While your curr ent music selection is playing, you can activ ate the Menu option and choose fr om a list of availabl e applications which can be run in t andem with your music.
Changing the Theme Color Y ou can customize your phone’ s display appearance by selecting a c olor scheme t o r eflect y our personality . T o change the display’ s theme color: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Display > Main Scr een > Skins .
Changing the Clock Display Choose whether you want your phone’ s clock to be displayed in analog mode, digital mode, or with time and dat e. T o change the clock’ s appearanc e on the standby scr een: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Display > Main Scr een > F oregr ounds > Clock/Cal endar .
Changing the Keypad Light Time Length The ke ypad light setting lets y ou select how l ong the ke ypad is backlit after any ke ypr ess is made. T o change the keypad light setting: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Display > Keypad Light . 2. Select Always Off , 8 seconds , 15 seconds , or 30 seconds and pr ess .
Location Settings Y our phone is equipped with a Location featur e for use in connection with l ocation-based services. The Loc ation featur e allows the network to det ect your position. T urning Location off will hide your l ocation fr om everyone ex cept 911.
Messaging Settings Staying connect ed to your friends and f amily has ne ver been easier . With your phone’ s advanced messaging c apabilities, you can send and r eceive many differ ent kinds of text messages without placing a voic e call. (For mor e information, see “Using SMS T ext Mes saging” on page 156.
Callback Number 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Messaging > Callback Number . 2. Select None , My Phone Number , or Other and pr ess . (If you select Other , enter a number and pr ess .
Adding a Customized Signatur e Each message you send c an have a cust omized signatur e to r eflect y our personality . T o add a customized signatur e to each sent message: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Messaging > Signatur e > Custom .
T o add a new pr eset message: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Messaging > Pr eset Messages . (The list of pr eset messages is displayed.) 2. T o add a new pr eset message, sel ect <Add New> . 3. Enter your mes sage (see “Entering T ext” on page 28), and pr ess .
Airplane/Music Mode Airplane/Music Mode allows y ou to use many of your phone’ s featur es, such as listening to music, playing games, or using the Notepad or V oice Memos, when you ar e in an airplane or in any other ar ea wher e making or r eceiving calls or dat a is pr ohibited.
TTY Use With Pivot Servic e TTY (also known as a TDD or T ext T elephone) is a t el ec om mu nic at io ns device that allows peopl e who are deaf, har d-of-hearing, or who have speech or language disabilities, to communic ate by tel ephone. Y our phone is compatible with sel ect TTY devices.

Shortcuts Y our phone offers you the option of assigning a short cut key t o a favorit e or often-used function. Pr essing the navigation key to the l eft in standby mode will launch your per sonally designated shortcut. T o assign your shortcut key: 1.
Auto Answer Mode Y ou may set your phone to automaticall y pick up incoming calls when connect ed to an optional hands-fr ee car kit. T o set Auto Answer mode: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Mor e... > Call Setup > Auto-Answer . 2. T o sel ect an option, highlight it and pr ess .
Abbr eviated Dialing Y our dialing match options allow you to enabl e or disable Abbr eviated Dialing and Speed Dialing (page 27). T o set your abbr eviated dialing options: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Mor e... > Call Setup > Abbr eviated Dialing .

Using Special Numbers Special numbers ar e important numbers that you have designated as being “always av ailable”. Y ou can call and r eceive c alls fr om special numbers ev en if your phone is lock ed. Y ou can save up to 10 special numbers in addition to your Contacts entries.
Restricting Y our Phone Ther e may be occasions when y ou want to limit the numbers your phone can c all. Y ou can use the Limit Calls setting to do just that. (The Limit Calls setting does not appl y to incoming calls, calls made t o 911.) T o res trict your phone: 1.
Resetting F avorites This will delet e all favorit es set by the user . T o reset f avorites: 1. Select Main Menu > Settings > Mor e... > Security , and then enter your l ock code. 2. Select Erase/Reset . 3. Select Reset F avorites and pr ess .

Checking for Voic email Messages Whil e Roaming When you ar e roaming off the Sprint National Network, you may not r eceive on-phone notific ation of new voicemail messages.
Setting Y our Phone’ s Roam Mode Y our phone allows you to contr ol your r oaming capabilities. By using the Roaming menu option, you can determine which signals your phone acc epts. Set Mode Choose fr om thr ee differ ent settings on your dua l- ba nd phone to contr ol your r oaming experience.
Using Call Guar d Y our phone has two ways of alerting you when you ar e r oaming off the Sprint National Network: the onscr een r oaming icon and Call Guar d. Call Guard mak es it easy to manage your r oaming charges by r equiring an extra step befor e you can place or answer a r oaming call.
Using Data Roam Guar d Y ou will be asked if you want to continue using y our br owser or other online applications when you ar e in a data roaming ar ea. When Data Roam Guar d is turned off, your phone will establish or maintain a dat a connection in a data r oaming ar ea without asking you for permis sion.

Viewing History Y ou’ll find the Call History featur e very helpful. It is a list of the last 50 phone numbers (or Contacts entries) f or calls you placed, ac cepted, or mis sed.
Call History Options F or additional information and options on a particular c all, highlight a Call History entry and pr ess . This featur e displays the date and time of the call, the phone number (if availabl e), and the call er’ s name (if the number is already in your Contacts).
Making a Call F rom Call His tory T o place a call fr om Call History: 1. Select Main Menu > Call History , and then select Missed Calls , Incoming Calls , Outgoing Calls , or Recent Calls . 2. Use your navigation k ey to sel ect a Call History entry and pr ess .
5. Use the keypad t o type in the new entry name and pr ess . – or – Use your navigation k ey to scr oll through your e xisting Contacts entries, highlight a name, and pr ess . 6. Use your navigation k ey to sel ect a phone number type (Mobile, Home, Offic e, etc.

Adding a New Contacts Entry Y our phone can stor e up to 50 0 Contacts entries. Cont acts entries can stor e up to a total of five phone number s, and each entry’ s name can contain 32 char acters. T o add a new entry: 1. Select Main Menu > Contacts > Find/Add Entry .
Finding Contacts Entries Ther e ar e several ways t o display your Contacts entries: by name, by speed dial number, and by gr oup. F ollow the s teps outlined in the sections below t o display entries fr om the Contacts menu. Finding Names T o find Contacts entries by name: 1.
Finding Gr oup Entries T o find entries designated as part of a group: 1. Select Main Menu > Contacts > Gr oups . 2. Scr oll thr ough the gr oup titles using y our navigation ke y . T o display entries belonging to a gr oup, highlight the gr oup and pr ess .
Contacts Entry Options T o acc ess a Contacts entry’ s options, display the entry, highlight <Edit Entry> , and press . T o select an option, highlight it and pr ess . [Add Name] to add a new contact name to the entry . [Add Number] to add a phone number to the entry .
Adding a Phone Number to a Contacts Entry T o add a phone number to an entry: 1. Display a Contacts entry . (See “Finding Contacts Entries” on page 76.) 2. Scr oll to <Edit Entry> and press . 3. Highlight [Add Number] and pres s . 4. Enter the new phone number and pr ess .
6. Pr ess Done (left softk ey) to sav e the number . – or – Pr ess Options (right softkey) f or additional options. When you'r e finished, press Done (l eft softkey) to save your new settings. Assigning Speed Dial Numbers Y our phone can stor e up to 99 phone numbers in speed dial loc ations.
T o assign a speed dial number to an existing phone number: 1. Display a Contacts entry . (See “Finding Contacts Entries” on page 76.) 2. Scr oll to <Edit Entry> and press . 3. Highlight the phone number for which you wish t o assign a speed dial number, and pr ess Options (right softke y).
Sel ecting a Ringer T ype for an Entry Y ou can assign a ringer type to a Cont acts entry so you can identify the call er by the ringer type. (See “Ringer T ypes” on page 34.) T o select a ringer type f or an entry: 1. Display a Contacts entry . 2.
Send All Contacts This allows you t o send all contacts inf ormation in your phone to other party via Bluetooth. T o Send All Contacts: 1. Select Main Menu > Contacts > Send All Contacts . 2. If Bluetooth is not set to on, set to On . 3. Highlight a device t o send the contacts inf ormation to and pr ess to send.
5. Use the Navigation Pad to highlight Buy and pr ess again to pur chase this service. 6. Within a few minut es, you will r eceive a text mes sage with the W eb addr ess ( www.wir elessbackup.sprint.com ) and passwor d for your personal backup f older .
