16 Google TM Ac count Set-up The first time y ou power on your phone, y ou will be prompted to touc h the Android logo to begin using y our phone. During setup y ou will be asked to sign into your e xisting Google account. If you do not ha ve a Google account you can create one.
17 Getting to Know the Home Scr een The Home screen is y our st arting point to access all the f eatures on your phone. It displa ys application icons, widgets, shortcuts, and other f eatures. Selecting a Home screen There are two Home screens y ou can select.
18 Getting to Know the Home Scr een T o view other Home screen panes • Slide your nger lef t or right across the Home screen. The Home screen spans fiv e screen widths allowing more space for icons, widgets, shortcuts, etc. • T ouch and hold Home screen pane L ocation indicator to view Home screen pane thumbnails.

23 T ouchscreen The main w ay to control Android f eatures is b y using your finger to manipulate icons, but tons, menu items, onscreen keyboard, and other items on the touc hscreen.
24 T ouchscreen NOTE: T o turn this feat ure on and off , from the Home screen, press the Menu Key and touch Settings > Sound & display > then, select/deselect Orientation . Rotate the phone counter -clockwise for landscape orientation. Rotate the phone clockwise f or portrait orientation.
25 Calling & Contacts Placing and Ending Calls T o place a call by dialing 1. T ouch the Phone icon on the Home screen or in the Launc h screen. • If you’ re already in the Contacts list or the Call log , touc h the Phone tab. 2. T ouch the number touc h keys to enter the phone number .
26 Calling & Contacts T o answer a call • Drag the green Call but ton to the right. If you w ere already on a call, the first call is placed on hold while you answ er the new call. T o decline a call and divert it to voicemail • Drag the red Decline but ton to the lef t.
27 Calling & Contacts T o access y our voice mail from y our wireless device 1. T ouch the Phone icon on the Home screen or in the Launc h screen. 2. T ouch the V oicemail Key or touc h and hold . 3. F ollow the prompts to enter your password and retrie ve your messages.
28 Setting Up Email Y our device will provide instant access to your Gmail, Google Contacts, and Google Calendar as soon as you set up y our Google account during activation. Linking all of y our other email addresses to your device is quic k and easy .
29 Setting Up Email OR If you must set up the account manually , continue to Step 5. 5. Select the type of email account. (If the account t ype is unknown, c heck with y our email provider . POP3 is the most common.) 6. Enter your Incoming server settings , then touc h Next .

31 Using the Menus There are two a vailable types of menus: Options menus and Context menus. Options menus Options menus contain tools that apply to the activities of the current screen or application, and not to any specific item on the screen. T o open the Options menu, press the Menu Key .
32 Using the Menus Conte xt menus Context menus contain tools that apply to a specific item on the screen. T o open a Context menu, touch and hold an item on the screen f or 2 seconds. Note that not all items hav e Context menus. If you touc h and hold an item that has no av ailable Context menu, nothing will happen.
33 Searching Y ou can search f or information on your phone and on the w eb with the Quic k Search B ox. NOTE: Y ou can also search the w eb by voice with the Voice Searc h application. F rom the Home screen, touch the V oice Search icon and then say what you w ant to search.

40 Safety TIA Saf ety Information The f ollowing is the complete TIA Safety Information for wireless handheld phones. Exposure to Radio Frequency Signal Y our wireless handheld portable phone is a low power radio transmit ter and receiver . When ON, it receives and sends out Radio F requency (RF) signals.
