11 Getting Started Instal ling t he SIM card a nd battery 1. Remove the battery cover Use your thumb to press on the top center of the back cover , then slide the cover downwar ds (as depicted below).
12 Getting Started 3. Install the SIM card Slide the SIM card into the SIM card slot (as shown below). Make sure that the gold contact area on the card is facing downwar ds. T o remove the SIM card, slide it gently in the opposite direction. 4. Install the battery Insert the top of the battery first into the battery compartm ent.

15 General Functions Making a Call 1. Make sure your phone is powered on. 2. Enter a phone number including the area code. T o edit a number on the display screen, simply press the Clear/Back Key to erase one digit at a time. Ź Press and hold the Clear/Back Key to erase the entire number .
16 General Functions Ending a Call T o end a call, press the End/P ower Key . Making a Call from the Contacts Y ou can store frequently called names and phone numbers in the SIM card as well as in the phone memory known as the Contacts. Y ou can dial a number by simply highlighting a name in the Contacts List and pressing the Send Key .
17 Adjusting the Volume Use the Volume Keys during a call to adjust the earpiece volume. While in standby mode, you can adjust the Master Volume using the V olume Keys . Vibrating Mode (Quick) Vibrating Mode can be activated by pressing and holding down or the down Volume Key .
18 General Functions T9 Mode The T9 mode allows you to enter words easily with only one keystroke per letter . Each key on the keypad has more than one letter . The T9 mode automatically compares your keystrokes with an internal linguistic dictionary to determine the correct word, thus requiring far fewer keystrokes than the traditional ABC mode.

20 General Functions 3. Complete each word with a space by pressing or the Right Navigation Key . T o delete letters, press the Clear/Back Key . Press and hold down the Clear/Back Key to erase all of the entered text.
21 Characters in the Order Displayed Keys Using the 123 (Numbers) Mode The 123 Mode enables you to enter numbers in a text message (a telephone number , for example) more quickly . Press the keys corresponding to the required digits before manually switching back to the appropriate text entry mode.
22 In-Call Menu During a Call Y our phone provides a number of control functions that you can use during a call. T o access these functions during a call, press the Left Soft Key Options . Making a Second Call Y ou can select a number you wish to dial from the Address Book to make a second call.
23 In-Call Menu Muting the Microphone Y ou can mute the microphone during a call by pressing the Right Soft Key Mute . The handset can be unmuted by pressing the Right Soft Key Unmute . When the handset is muted, the caller cannot hear you, but you can still hear the caller .

28 Address Book Contact List This menu allows you to save and manage contact address information. The Contact List’ s functions allow you to add a new address or search saved contact addresses by name. T o access Contact List, from the standby screen, press the Right Soft Key Menu , A T&T Address Book , and Contact List .
29 New Contact This menu allows you to add a new contact to the Contact List. Y ou can enter contact address information including name, phone numbers, email addresses, group information items, memos, ring tones, and a contact Picture ID.
30 Service Number Y ou can view the list of Service Dialing Numbers (SDN) assigned by your network provider . Such numbers could include the emergency services, directory assistance and voice mail numbers. 34 Messaging Inbox Y ou will be alerted when you receive a message. New messages are stored in the Inbox. In the Inbox, you can identify each message by icons. If you are notified that you have received a multimedia message, you can download the whole multimedia message by selecting it in the Inbox menu.
35 Messaging Ź Select Multiple: Allows you to select multiple messages to delete. Ź Message Details: Allows you to view the details of the message. Outbox Outbox is the storage place for recently sent messages. When you press the Send Key , you can call the recipient of the selected message.
