Explanation of har d disk capacity Dear user , While using your computer , you may discover that the n ominal hard disk capacity indicated i s somewhat different from th e disk capac ity displayed by the ope rating system. For example , a nominal 80GB hard disk will appear as less than 80GB in the operating system.
If a portion of the hard disk space ha s been used for some specific purpose, then the capacity indicated by the op erating system will be even less than X × 0.

Y ou can set th e HDD password with Set HDD user password in Security . T o set a supervisor pass wor d: Only a system a dministrator will be able to perform this pr ocedure.

Y ou need to set a HDD user password, or even a HDD master passwor d (for some model), as the Hard Di sk Password. Either of th e passwords can be used to access the ha rd disk.

The next time you turn on your computer , you will have to enter the HDD user or master pass word to get access to your operating syst em.

50 Chapter 4. T roubleshooting Sleep or hibe rnation problems The computer enter s sleep mode une xpectedly . If the processor over heats, the computer automatically enters sle ep mode to allow the computer to cool and to protect the pro cessor and other internal components.
Chapter 4. T roubleshooting 51 If the sleep indica tor is on, your computer is in sleep m ode. Connect the AC adapter to the compu ter , then press any key or the power button. If the sleep indicator is off, your computer is in sle ep/hibernation mode or power-of f state.

Chapter 4. T roubleshooting 55 The computer does not operate with a fully c harged battery . The surge pr otector in th e battery might be active. T urn off the computer for one minute to rese t the protector; then turn on the computer again. The battery does not charge.

Upgrading and replacin g devices Note: If only one DIMM is used on the computer you ar e servicing, the car d must be installed in SLOT -0 ( : lower slot ), but not in SLOT -1 ( : upper slot).
