1. Close other applications, then r estart the backup process. 2. Check if the destination medium is damaged, try t o select another le path and then try again.
Putting your computer into sleep mode If you will be away from your computer for a short time, put the comput er int o sleep mode. When the computer is in sleep mode, you can quickly wake it up t o r esume use and bypass the startup process.
Using the ac power adapter The power to run your computer can come either from the lithium-ion battery pack pr ovided with it, or from ac power through the ac power adapter . While you use ac power , the batt ery char ges aut omatically . The ac power adapt er has two basic components: 1.
• Recharge the batt ery complet ely befor e using it. The batt ery is fully char ged if the battery indicator shows green when the ac power adapter is plugged in. Handling the battery DANGER Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the battery pack. Attempting to do so can cause an explosion, or liquid leakage fr om the batt ery pack.

B490 The keyboar d has keys that can work as a 10-key numeric keypad when enabled. T o enable or disable the keypad, pr ess Fn+F8. B590 The keyboard has a separate numeric keypad. T o enable or disable the keypad, pr ess the Numeric L ock key (NmLk). Note: The numeric lock indicat or is on when the numeric keypad is enabled.
The r ecovery button enables you to launch the r ecovery progr ams preinstalled on your comput er . • F or the Windows 7 oper ating system: – When the computer is turned off, pr ess this butt on and then follow the on-screen instructions to launch the Pr oduct Recovery pr ogr am.

T aking care of your computer Although your comput er is designed to function reliably in normal work envir onments, you need t o use common sense in handling it. By following these important tips, you will get the most use and enjoyment out of your computer .
• Be sure to turn off the power and close the L CD when not in use. • When you leave the computer in your car , place it on the back seat to avoid being insolated.

The battery pack cannot be char ged. Y ou cannot char ge the battery when it is too hot. If the batt ery feels hot, r emove it fr om the comput er and allow it t o cool t o r oom temper atur e. After it cools, reinstall it and rechar ge the batt ery .
• Pr ess Fn+F2 to conrm whether the L CD scr een has been turned off. If the problem persist, follow the solution to “The screen is unr eadable or distorted. ” on page 47 The screen is unreadable or distorted. Make sure that: • The display device driver is installed correctly .
• When you carry your computer . This is a normal char act eristic of a hard disk drive and is not a defect. The hard disk drive does not work. On the Startup ➙ Boot menu of the BIOS, make sure that the hard disk drive is on the Boot priority or der list.
A sound pr oblem Print these instructions now and keep it with your comput er for refer ence lat er . No sound can be hear d from the speak er even when the volume is turned up. Make sure that: • The mute function is off. • The headphone jack is not used.
