4 RIGHT LEFT REAR SPEAKERS CENTER SPEAKER T urn the loop until y ou have the best r eception. Notes: • Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch an y other ter minals, connecting cords and power cord. This could cause poor reception. • If reception is poor , connect an outdoor single vinyl-cov ered wire to the AM EXT ter minal.
5 Connecting the subwoofer speaker Y ou can enhance the bass by connecting a subwoofer . Connect the input jack of a powered subwoofer to the SUBWOOFER OUT jack on the rear panel, using a cable with RCA pin plugs.
6 VIDEO AUDIO LEFT RIGHT MONITOR OUT OUT (REC) IN (PLA Y) OUT (REC) IN (PLA Y) DVD VCR VHS Video component connections Use the cables with RCA pin plugs (not supplied). Connect the white plug to the audio left jack, the red plug to the audio right jack and the yellow plug to the video jack.
7 Putting Batteries in the Remote Contr ol Before using the remote control, put two supplied batteries first. When using the remote control, aim the remote control directly at the remote sensor on the recei ver . 1. On the back of the remote control, r emove the battery cov er as illustrated.
8 T urning the Power On and Off (Standby) On the front panel: T o turn on the po wer , press POWER. The ST ANDBY lamp goes of f. The name of the current source (or station frequency) appears on the display . T o turn off the po wer (into standby mode), press POWER again.
9 Adjusting the V olume On the front panel: T o increase the v olume, turn MASTER VOLUME clockwise (+). T o decr ease the volume, turn it counterclockwise (–). • When you turn MASTER V OLUME rapidly , the volume le vel also changes rapidly . • When you turn MASTER VOLUME slo wly , the v olume level also changes slo wly .
10 Attenuating the Input Signal When the input le vel of the playing source is too high, the sounds will be distorted. If this happens, you need to attenuate the input signal level to prevent the sound distortion. On the front panel ONL Y : Press INPUT A TT .
11 Changing the Source Name When you hav e connected an MD recorder to the T APE/MD jacks on the rear panel: Change the source name shown on the display when you select the MD recorder as the source. On the front panel ONL Y : When changing the source name from “T APE” to “MD”: 1.
12 T o store the sound settings 1. Press ONE T OUCH OPERA TION. The ONE T OUCH OPERA TION lamp lights up, then the previously memorized settings are recalled. 2. Adjust the sound using the functions listed to the left. The newly adjusted settings are memorized.

14 Selecting the FM Reception Mode When an FM stereo br oadcast is har d to receive or noisy Y ou can change the FM reception mode while receiving an FM broadcast. On the front panel ONL Y : 1. Press FM. The last station of the selected band is tuned in.
15 Using the DSP Modes The built-in Surround Processor provides three types of the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) mode — 3D-PHONIC mode, DAP (Digital Acoustic Processor) mode and Surround mode (Dolby Pro Logic and JVC Theater Surround). * Manufactured under license from Dolby Laboratories Licensing Corporation.

18 From the r emote contr ol: 1. Press SOUND CONTR OL. The 10 keys are activated for sound adjustments. 2. Press SURR OUND repeatedly until the D AP mode — D ANCE CLUB, LIVE CLUB, HALL, or P A VILION — appears on the display . The D AP indicator also lights up on the display .
19 8. ONL Y FOR JVC Theater Surround: Press MUL TI CURSOR @ / # to select an effect lev el you want. • Each time you press the button, the ef fect level changes as follows: As the number increases, JVC Theater Surround becomes stronger .
20 Using the DVD MUL TI Playback Mode This receiver provides the DVD MUL TI playback mode for reproducing the analog discrete output mode of the DVD player . Before playing back a DVD, refer also to the manual supplied with the DVD player . 7. Press MUL TI CURSOR @ / # to adjust the left rear speak er output level (fr om –10 to +10).
21 COMPU LINK Remote Contr ol System The COMPU LINK remote control system allows you to operate JVC audio components through the remote sensor on the receiver .
22 Operating JVC’ s Audio/V ideo Components Y ou can operate JVC’s audio and video components with this r eceiver’s remote control, since control signals for JVC components are preset in the remote control.
23 VCR Y ou can always perform the following operations : VCR POWER :T urns on or off the VCR. VCR CH +/– : Changes the channels on the VCR. After pressing VCR, you can perform the following operations on the VCR: 3 : Starts playing. 1 : Re winds a tape.
24 PROBLEM The display does not light up. No sound from speakers. Sound from one speaker only. Continuous hiss or buzzing during FM reception. Occasional cracking noise during FM reception. Howling during record playing. “OVERLOAD” starts flashing on the display.
