6 EN Basic Connections CHECK CONTENTS 1 Make sure the package contains all of the accessories listed in “SPECIFICA TIONS” ( Z pg. 60). SITUA TE VCR 2 Place the VCR on a stable, horizontal surface. CONNECT VCR TO TV 3 The connection method you use depends on the type of TV you have.
EN 7 INITIAL SETTINGS Plug & Play The Plug & Play function sets the clock and tuner channels automatically when power is first connected to the VCR.
8 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) Language This VCR offers you the choice to view on-screen messages in English, Spanish or French (not including messages superimposed on the TV picture). Select the desired language using this procedure. The default setting is "ENGLISH".
EN 9 Clock Perform clock setting only if the clock has not been set correctly by the Plug & Play function. Access the Override Auto Clock Set screen to choose the Auto, Semi-Auto or Manual clock setting procedure. Each procedure starts from step 5 .

18 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) The VCR Plus+ timer programming system eliminates the need to input channel, date, start and stop time data when setting the timer record function. Simply key in the PlusCode number for the TV program you wish to record (found in most TV listings) and the VCR’ s timer is automatically programmed.

The following procedure is required if you receive satellite channels through a DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) receiver and you want your VCR to change to receiver's channels during timer recording. The VCR can control the DBS Receiver during timer recording using its Controller .
EN 21 Set DBS Receiver Output Channel TURN ON THE VCR 1 Press POWER . ● Set the VCR to the channel (3 or 4 or AU) on which the signals from the DBS receiver are received.
22 EN INITIAL SETTINGS (cont.) Set DBS Receiver Brand TURN ON DBS RECEIVER 1 Select a channel other than channel 55, 100 or 205 on your DBS receiver . ACCESS DBS RECEIVER BRAND SET SCREEN 2 At the Custom Set screen, press CH 5 ∞ or SHUTTLE PLUS %fi to move the highlight bar (arrow) to “DBS RECEIVER BRAND SET”, then press OK.
EN 23 SIMPLE PLA YBACK AND RECORDING Simple Playback LOAD A CASSETTE 1 Make sure the window side is up, the rear label side is facing you and the arrow on the front of the cassette is pointing towards the VCR. Don’ t apply too much pressure when inserting.
24 EN Simple Recording LOAD A CASSETTE 1 Make sure the record safety tab is intact. If not, cover the hole with adhesive tape before inserting the cassette. SELECT RECORDING CHANNEL 2 Press CH 5 ∞ . Or press the appropriate NUMBER keys, then press ENTER .
EN 25 Playback Features PLA YBACK AND RECORDING FEA TURES Still Picture/Frame-By- Frame Playback P AUSE DURING PLA YBACK 1 Press P AUSE . If there is vertical jitter , use the CH 5 or ∞ button to correct the picture. ACTIV A TE FRAME-BY - FRAME PLA YBACK 2 Press P AUSE repeatedly to advance one frame at a time.
26 EN Manual T racking Once playback begins, the VCR’ s automatic tracking function is engaged. If noise appears in the picture, you can override this and make the adjustment manually .
EN 27 Video Stabilizer Y ou can correct vertical vibration when playing back unstable EP recordings that were made on another VCR. When this function is set to "ON", vertical vibration will be automatically corrected. *The default setting is "OFF".

34 EN PLA YBACK AND RECORDING FEA TURES (cont.) Auto Picture Auto Picture compensates for variations in tape characteristics to ensure the best possible playback picture. It checks and compensates for the condition of the tape at the beginning of automatic tracking when playback is selected.

38 EN VCR Plus+ Timer Pr ogramming ● Before VCR Plus+ T imer programming, see "VCR Plus+ Setup" on page 18. ● T urn on the TV and select the VCR channel 3 or 4 (or A V mode). T imer recording allows you to program the VCR to automatically record a program which will be broadcast at some future time.
