User’ s Guide 1–1 1 Pr oduct Features Y our flat panel monitor has an acti ve matrix, thin-film transistor (TFT), liquid crystal display (LCD). The monitor features include: ■ 17-inch (43.18 cm) vie wable area display . ■ 1280 x 1024 resolution, plus full-screen support for lo wer resolutions.

User’ s Guide 3–1 3 Setting Up the Monitor Before setting up the monitor , ensure that power is turned of f to the monitor , computer system, and other attached devices, then follo w these steps: 1. Place the monitor in a con venient, well ventilated location near your computer .

If your monitor displays an image, installation is complete. Å W ARNING: T o reduce the risk of electr ic shock or damage to y our equipment: ■ Do not disable the po wer cord grounding plug.
Setting Up the Monitor User’ s Guide 3–3 Remo ving the Monitor Base The monitor base is remov able, which allows flexible mounting solutions. If you choose to mount the monitor onto a swing arm or other mounting fixture, use the follo wing steps to remove the base from the monitor .

These buttons are also direct access buttons f or the brightness feature .
Operating the Monitor User’ s Guide 4–5 The On-Screen Display (OSD) adjusts the screen image based on your vie wing preferences. T o access the OSD: 1. Press the Pow e r button to turn on the monitor , if the monitor is not already on. 2. Press the Menu button to display the On-Screen Display menu.
4–6 User’ s Guide Operating the Monitor Using the OSD Menu Y our OSD menu has the following feature settings. Use the + or - buttons to adjusts the OSD menu functions. Menu Function Brightness Adjusts the screen brightness. When the OSD is not on the screen, press the + or - button to adjust brightness.
Operating the Monitor User’ s Guide 4–7 Image Lock Use to fine tune and get the best image by removing noises that create unstab le images with jitters and shimmers. If satisf actor y results are not obtained using the Fine adjustment, select the Coarse adjustment, and then the Fine adjustment again.
4–8 User’ s Guide Operating the Monitor Reset Use to reset the geometr y and color parameters. These par ameters are replaced with the f actor y default v alues. If you d on ’ t want to reset y our monitor , use the - adjust button to select No .

4–12 User’ s Guide Operating the Monitor Monitor Messages Special messages will appear on the monitor screen to identify the follo wing monitor conditions: ■ V ideo mode not supported - If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the screen goes blank although the po wer indicator light is still on.
Operating the Monitor User’ s Guide 4–13 Energ y Saver Feature When the monitor is in its normal operating mode, the monitor utilizes less than 40 watts of po wer and the Po wer light is green.
4–14 User’ s Guide Operating the Monitor User Modes The video controller signal may occasionally require a mode that is not preset if: ■ Y ou are not using a Compaq standard graphics adapter . ■ Y ou are not using a preset mode. If this occurs, you may need to readjust the parameters of the monitor screen by using the on-screen display .
