1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal dis play) monitors have an active matrix, thin -film transistor (TFT) panel. The monitor models and features include: ● Wide viewing angle .
2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, use only a power source and connection appropriate for this monitor. For infor mat ion on the correct power cord set to use with the monitor, refer to the Power Cord Set Requirements on page 38 in Appendix C.
● Be sure the total ampere rating of the products connected to the outlet does not e xceed the curre nt rating of the electrical outlet, and the total ampere rating of th e products connected to the cord does not exceed the rating of the cord. Look on the power labe l to determine the ampere rating (AMPS or A) for each device.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, ensure th at the power is turned off to the monitor, co mputer system, and other attached devices, then fo llow the instructions below. Attaching the Monitor Base 1. Set the base on a flat surf ace such as a table top.

Connecting the Cables WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the equipment: Do not disable the power cord gr ounding plug. The grounding plug is an important safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed ) electric al outlet that is easily accessible at all times.
LE1851wt Model (Connectin g for MultiSeat Computing) 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-v entilated location near the computer. 2. Connect the VGA signal cable to the VGA connector on the rear of the monitor and the other end to the VGA connector on the T1 50 multiseat computing device.
LE2001wm Model 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-v entilated location near the computer. 2. Connect a VGA signal cable or DVI-D signal cable. NOTE: The monitor is capable of supporting either analog or digital input. The video mode is determined by the video cable used.
Adjusting the Monitor Tilt the monitor's panel forw ard or backwa rd to set it to a comfortable eye level. Figure 3-7 Tilting the Monitor Turning on the Monitor 1. Press the power button on the computer to turn it on. 2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to turn it on.
CAUTION: Before beginning to disassembl e the monitor, be sure the mo nitor is turned off and the power and sign al cables are bo th disconnected. 1. Disconnect and remove the signal and powe r cables from the back of t he monitor. 2. Lay the monitor face down on a flat surface.
4. To attach the monitor to a swing arm, insert four 10mm screws th rough the holes on the swing arm plate and into the mounting holes on the monitor. Figure 3-9 Installing the Monitor on a Swing Arm .
Mounting the MultiSeat Computing Device to the Monitor (Sold Separately) You can connect a multiseat computing device to the rear of the LE1851wt model only. 1. Install the bracket for the multis eat computing device to th e rear of the monitor using the two 10mm screws provided.
2. Slide the multiseat computin g device onto the bracket. Figure 3-11 Inst alling the Mult iSeat Compu ting Device 3. Connect the cables. Refer to LE1851wt Model (Connecting for MultiSeat Computing) on page 7 for instructions on connecting the cables.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contains files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Image Color Matching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you determine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM files from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM files on the computer from t he CD: 1. Insert the CD in the compu ter CD-ROM drive.
To use the auto-adj ustment featur e: 1. Allow the monitor to warm up for 20 minutes before adjusting. 2. Press the OK/auto button on the monitor front panel. ● You can also press the Menu button, then select Image Control > Auto-Adjustment from the OSD Main Menu.
Front Panel Controls Table 4-1 Monitor Front Panel Controls Control Function 1 Menu Opens, selects or exits the OSD menu. 2 Minus Volume/Minus (LE2001wm model only) If the OSD menu is on, press to navigate backward through the OSD menu and decrease adjustment levels.
Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor s ettings can be adjus ted from the O n-Screen Dis play (OSD) menu or from the HP Displ ay Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a problem with the display settings, try resetting th e settings to the factory default s by opening the OSD and selecting Factory Reset from the OSD menu.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Scre en Display (OSD) menu selections and their functional descriptions. After changing an OSD menu item , and if the menu screen has these opt ions, you may choose to: ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.

Optimizing Imag e Performance Two controls in the on-screen disp lay can be adjust ed to improve image performance: Clock and Clock Phase. NOTE: The Clock and Clock Phase controls are adjustab le only when using an analog input. These controls are not adjustable for digital inputs.
To correct screen position (Horizon tal Position or Vertical Position): 1. Press the Menu button on the monitor's front panel to open the OSD Menu, and then select Image Control > Horizontal Position and/or Vertical Position .
Identifying Monitor Conditions Special messages will appear on the monitor screen when identif ying the following monitor co nditions: ● Input Signal Out of Range—Change resolution setting to 13 6.
Sleep Timer Mode The Sleep Timer mode is an energy-saving feat ure that enables you to set a time for the monitor to power on and off at the same time every day.
sRGB Support The monitor is designed to support sRGB for colo r managemen t, which adapts to the color standards used in the image technology industry. To take advantag e of the sRGB su pport, you will need to change the monitor’s color temperature to sRGB and install the sRGB color profile (ICM) file.
7. On the Devices tab, click the Add button. 8. Select the RGB Color Space Profile.icm file, then click the OK button. 9. To activate a color pro file for th e monitor, you must set it as th e Default Monitor Profile. Select sRGB Color Space Profile , then click the Set as Default button .
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table lists possible problems, the po ssible cause of each problem, and the rec ommended solutions. Problem Possible Cause Solution Screen is blank. Power cord is disconnected. Connect the power cord.
Problem Possible Cause Solution OSD Lockout is displayed. The monitor's OSD Lockout function is enabled. Press and hold the Menu butt on for 10 seconds to disable the OSD Lockout function. Power Button Lockout is displayed. The monitor's Power Button Lockout function is en abled.

Recognizing Preset Display Resolutions The display resolutions lis ted below are the most commonly used modes an d are set as factory defaults. This monitor automatically reco gnized these preset modes and they will appear properly sized and centered on the s creen.
Entering User Modes The video controller signal may occasionally call for a mode that is not preset if: ● You are not usin g a standard g raphics adapter. ● You are not using a preset mode. It this occurs, you may need to readjust the parame ters of the monitor screen by using the on-screen display.
